Easter Motivation: Home Improvements

For the first time in a long time I’ve been slacking this week blog-wise… oops! I have a good reason, though!

This Sunday we will be hosting Easter for K’s family. Our house is average size and in pretty good condition, but we decided that we wanted to finish some of our big projects before Easter. This means we’ve been busting our butts to get some stuff done!

I am so, so, so pleased to announce that our spare bedroom is FINALLY painted & furnished!

We want to paint a light yellow horizontal stripe around the room mid-way down (or up?) the wall, but I’m just so pleased that the room is useable and pretty!

Not great lighting in the morning… the walls are light green!

Additionally, my husband and I finally said enough is enough and got the materials to finish our half-bathroom that we’d torn apart MONTHS ago. Again, we still are planning to add (shelves above the toilet) but now the bathroom has a fresh coat of paint, a beautiful vanity, a centered mirror, and nifty lights.

My friend Kayla came over a few weeks ago and we knocked out the painting part!

Found this nifty little trick on Pinterest. Covered the toilet with a trashbag!

The bedroom was my project (with the help of my momma) and the bathroom was more of K’s project. We are horrible at working together professionally, but on a personal level we’re an all-star team.

A week ago I also coaxed K into hanging some of our new-ish artwork and spruce up his office area.

I LOVE this corner of the dining room. Also, my incredible husband BUILT me this wine rack two Christmases ago. Not from a kit... he designed, built, and stained it.

Again, horrible lighting, but here's the new organized corner in K's office.

I just feel like such a HUGE weight has been lifted because we can check these things off the list! On to the landscaping!

K is usually super busy with his business (and things are about to get crazy again), but I’m so grateful I could steal his attention for these last 2 weeks to get some stuff done!

Do you have any home improvement projects looming over your head? How’s your Spring Cleaning list going? Seriously though, how amazing is that wine rack? (Taking advantage of bragging rights! Sorry!)

  1. what! he MADE that wine rack?! that is too cool and highly impressive. also GO TEAM for getting so much accomplished, that’s excellent. i love working on tangible things where you can actually see progress.

i’m also storing away that trashbag-over-toilet-for-painting idea. thanks for the reminder that spring cleaning should happen soon…or not.

I was pretty blown away when he presented the wine rack to me 🙂 It’s just our style! We’re definitely feeling good about the progress we’ve made! This means we can slack on the rest of the spring cleaning list, right….? 😉
