Making Room | 12 Months of Bliss

July is over. July is OVER. JULY IS OVER?! How is July already over…?

If you recall, I am currently participating in Emily’s (Ember Grey) 12 Months of Bliss Project. (Check out last month’s Happiness Stamped challenge!)

This month was more of an internal, hold-yourself-accountable, make a change challenge. Spoiler alert: I didn’t do so hot.

July’s challenge was entitled “Making Room.” This past month I was challenged to make a list of my habits and then consciously kick a bad one out of my daily routine. This will definitely be a year-long challenge because I didΒ not do very well this month. My bad habit isΒ sleeping through my alarm/hitting snooze. I set an alarm for 6 am (then 6:30 am, then 7 am, then 7:15 am) to be at work at 8 am… I would LOVE to wake up at 6 am and spend time with my dogs, maybe take a walk, take an easy, rejuvenating shower, and munch on some breakfast.

So I will be working on this in August… and September… and October. Because I am a night owl and I have no desire to “get the worm.” But I know I should.

Next month’s challenge is called “A Life Inspired” and I’m really looking forward to it! Won’t you join us?? It’s not too late!

EG's Twelve Months of Bliss
. . .
I’d like to start a personal project this month (and hold myself accountable on my blog)! I recently realized that I have nearly 50 projects pinned on my Pinterest Craft Board, but I never take the time to do them. Total bummer, right?? So I’m going to take one pin every month- I’m calling this The Pinterest Project for now. Maybe someday I’ll come up with a better name and make it a link-up, but for now I’m going to simply tackle the pins. Feel free to join me! I’ll post at the end of the month about the pin I chose to craft and how it ended up! Do you want to informally join me? πŸ™‚

  1. thanks for being honest in how you’re doing with it! i haven’t read this book but have heard it’s life changing for those who want to become more morning people. it’s called “the miracle morning” and apparently it’s a game-changer!

i HAD to become one when we got a dog a year ago (5th floor apartment means she gets to go out early which means i have to put on some type of pants to take her). now i look forward to walking her for 15 minutes to get my morning started with fresh air and a quiet world!

Oooooh, I’ll check that book out soon! Thank you! I really, really want to be a morning person but I’m just not 😦 In college I was a total night owl, but now I get tired at night, too! Haha!

Fortunately we have a fenced in backyard so I don’t need pants to let my two pups out πŸ˜€ And one of them is just like me and follows me back to bed to snuggle for another 15-20 minutes πŸ™‚ He’s such a bad influence πŸ˜‰

  2. Well you now know that I didn’t do so hot in the Making Room challenge either, so don’t be too hard on yourself! For most of my life I was a night owl and had such a hard time waking up in the morning. And then all of a sudden, I started loving the early, quiet mornings as much as I loved the late, quiet nights – and that’s when the switch happened. (The dark is just as dark at 4:30 or 5am as it is 2am.) I did have to bribe myself with “new” coffee or creamer in the beginning… or new music that I’d only allow myself to listen to IF I woke up early enough… those bribes actually worked and now it’s easier for me to wake up early. (Most days) πŸ˜‰

And YES- I need to get in that Pinterest Project too!

Oooooh, I hadn’t thought about bribing myself like that! That might work!! Good advice! I’m trying so hard to enjoy the mornings because I think sleeping too late wastes my day (and makes me feel icky), and when we have kids I will HAVE to get up early… So I might as well try to change my outlook!
