Since Sunday I have worked 24 hours at my full time gig & 6 hours at the part time place, spent 8 hours in a car, survived IKEA, and attended a major sporting event. #BringOnTheHolidays #IWorkRetailOnBlackFriday #ICoordinateAWeddingOnSaturday #I’mPrayingForSundayToArrive
We spent Monday night in #CLE watching the #Cavs beat the Orlando basketball people… (I don’t know who they are…) #IStillDon’tGetSports #WeBoughtShirtsToFitIn
Speaking of sports… my one true love just wrapped up another season and I have to wait until next year for more races #IAlreadyMissYouNASCAR #Let’sGoRacing
Fallout Boy is in my top 3 favorite bands. I feel like that alone is a confession… #EmoKid4Ever #WhereIsYourBoyTonight #Guy-liner&SkinnyJeans
I will do everything in my power to avoid letting my food touch on my plate tomorrow. #ExceptMashedPotatoesAndGravy #YummmmyMashedPotatoes
Monday I gushed about the blog world, but we have some crazy-cool IRL friends, too. #ThanksForTheTickets,Nic&Erx #ThanksForGoingWithUs,Woz&Kelsey #ThanksForHangingChristmasLightsWithMe,Kayla
I’m secretly looking forward to working retail on Black Friday… I know that’s weird. #Hello6am #IWantToSeeCrazyPeople
And on that note, I’m off to work a full day and then enjoy four days off from my full time job! Woot woot!
What are your Thanksgiving plans? Favorite side dish? Are you venturing out Thursday night or Friday morning to score some deals??
Between the holiday posts (I went a little nuts in October) and all the link-up posts I’ve been doing I think that I’ve failed to really share where I’m at in life with y’all. Also, I know that I’ve had a little more traffic here lately (yay!) so welcome, new friends! Let’s get to know one another just a little bit better.
Some bloggers do coffee dates and some do “currently” posts, but I think I’m just going to refer to this as our little catch-up sesh. First and foremost, I need to gush about the friendly, open, kind environment I’ve entered into with this blog & the blogging world. It probably sounds silly to people that don’t blog, but I really feel like I’ve met some incredibly inspiring people and creative souls just by putting figurative pen to paper here. I hope you guys find this space to be equally inviting and welcoming ❤️
Speaking of inviting spaces… I’m done with Facebook for a while. I don’t have a blog page on there so it doesn’t affect this space, but scrolling through my news feed definitely affects my emotions and temper and heart. So I’m going to be done with all the drama for now…
On a side note, if you’d like to connect via social media please, please check me out here:
(Sorry for the shameless plug… but now my IG is public so yay for that!)
Also! I got another “celebrity tweet”! (Dom, the winning fashion designer from Project: Runway Season 12!)
Ok, how did you guys do this month with NaNoWriMo?? I know not everyone participated, but I’m always so amazed by those who pump out +50,000 words in a month! Woof!
I added a new page to my header recently: 30×30. It’s my to-do list before I turn the big 3-0. I have five years soooo…. hopefully I can cross something off between now and then. (Actually, I get to cross No. 29 off because tonight we’re going to a Cavs game!)
For the record… I don’t understand basketball. Neither does K really. This will be fun…
So I’ve started listening to Christmas music… and I also have some decorations up.
Listen… next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent so I think it’s justified- even Jesus starts the celebration in November. It’s fine…
I haven’t mentioned my dogs once in this little catch-up post… But now I have 🙂 For my birthday last month my thoughtful baby brother & his fiancee got us a 3 month BarkBox subscription. PERFECT GIFT ALERT. Let be real… had they given me money or food I’d have just given it to the fluff babes anyway.
Speaking of my babywittle younger brother… he’s tying the knot in July next year. (I gushed about his engagement here.) This was the kid that I forced to play “house” with me and who sat through hundreds of fake-school lessons. Now he’s going to be playing house for realzzz soon… I’m not crying, my eyes are just sweating.
But honestly, I’m so excited for this wedding and all the pre-wedding festivities! I’m just so thankful for my family!
And that brings us to the end. Have a good Thanksgiving week, friends. I will see you Wednesday for a few #hashtags!
Thank you, blogging community, for being so kind and fun and welcoming. I’m so grateful to be a blogger ❤️
Welcome to Friday, my friends! ❤️ This week I’ve been very intentional about celebrating every day, but I will admit I’m happy to see the weekend! Tonight I’m going to see Christmas trees at a local museum with my mom and tomorrow my best friend and I are attempting to hang Christmas lights on the house! (K is off the hook since business is booming due to his recent trip to Texas.)
Before I launch into this week’s thankful-topic, I wanted to share some of my favorite reads from this week!
I love Amber’s heart and blog, Mr. Thomas and Me, and I think the idea of being welcome (and welcoming others) is SO important- especially right now.
I JUST discovered Ashten’s blog, Just Go Left, and I LOVE her passion for cold noses and wagging tails!
Faith at Life with Mrs. G & the Artist is starting a new “After I Do” series! I’m so excited to read more from her (& her future guest bloggers)!
Alrighty, on to today’s main topic.
This week I am thankful for the family I gained when K and I tied the knot! My mother-in-law celebrated her birthday on Wednesday and I am so fortunate to have her in my life! K was raised by two wonderful people and we’re very lucky to live so close to them and have them so involved in our life. (K’s dad actually works with him at the business!)
I also gained a sister-in-law (and her family of five) and a brother-in-law (who just got married last month)! K also has a ton of aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents that have always treated me like family and it makes get-together all the better. Thanksgiving is always a crazy, busy, yummy holiday thanks to our family 🙂
Hi hi hi, friends! We’ve made it to Wednesday and that’s something to celebrate! It feels like November days last longer… even though darkness comes earlier here in Ohio. Last Wednesday I did a #Hashtag/Confession post (which seemed to be a hit!) and today I’m mixing it up with a vlog! I hope my voice isn’t annoying or weird…
If you could have any job in the world, what would you choose?
What job would you definitely NOT want to have?
What profession do you admire a lot?
What qualities do you think a good leader or boss has?
What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you at work?
What advice would you give to current students?
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
And here are my answers!
Sorry the lighting is so terrible… I promise I’ll get better at these things someday 😉
Every time I talk about my future dog haven I get more motivated. Someday I’ll be gushing about all my four-legged residents right here on the blog! (Or I’ll start another one to highlight my forever-home-hopefuls!)
Thank you to Faith & all her co-hosts for the vlog link up! (Is my voice ok? Should I apply for a radio job?)
On Sunday night, usually around 7 or 8, I start to see the anti-Monday quotes and statuses. I’m guilty of it, too. I act as though there isn’t enough coffee in the world to get me through or the alarm is such a burden… but why do we hate Monday so much?
Monday morning means we get another day- another week- to live and love and celebrate. It’s the start of another week filled with family and friends and work and love and dog kisses and creativity and learning and breathing. How incredibly lucky we are to wake up. How many more Mondays will we have? Why wouldn’t we cherish this day like all the rest?
These thoughts stem from the unfathomable tragedies to befall Paris & Beirut this weekend. My head and heart hurt so much when I think about and pray for all the people affected by this violence. I’m amazed by all the good that rallies in a time like this. And it’s that goodness that makes me so damn happy and grateful to open my eyes on Monday morning and start another 24 hours.
Please don’t dread Monday. I’m so happy you’re awake and well.
Today I am thankful for two parents that encouraged me- and continue to encourage me- to think for myself and make well-educated decisions based on research and personal convictions. If we started throwing around labels I would say that my parents lean a little republican and I might be a smidge liberal . I mean, my dad actually threatened me one Christmas with an NRA membership. (For the record, I am not a member.) There are many things we agree about but there are also a TON of topics we end up debating at the dinner table.
I’m so thankful to have parents that not only allow me to speak my mind and disagree, but also ask me what I think about certain topics and enjoy debating the rights and wrongs of issues. Has it ever gotten heated? Yes. Does it usually stay fairly civil? Usually, yes. I was once talking with a friend who said that her dad got mad if she expressed any opinions that challenged his own. I just couldn’t wrap my head around that…
So today I’m thankful that my mom and dad allow me have a big mouth. It’s gotten me in trouble and I’ve had to eat my own foot in the past, but I feel good about forming my own opinions and having that confidence. (Thanks, Mom & Dad.)
Also, Happy Birthday tomorrow to the best dad a girl could ask for! You keep hauling coal and I’ll keep fighting for the polar bears 😉
Let’s get real today, friends. Do you ever look in the mirror and thing to yourself, “Oh crap”? I consider my Facebook and Instagram to be pretty honest representations of my life (food, dogs, sarcastic interactions), but they still represent edited snapshots of my life. Here’s the real story: I wake up late every morning. I skip dogs walks at least twice a week because I’m too tired. My toe nail polish is so chipped it belongs in an ancient Greek museum. My husband left for +1 week and I drank wine every night and had cereal for dinner. I’m sitting here writing this eating Ramon noddles for breakfast.
I mean, these aren’t huge confessions, but they’re the parts of life that make me feel like I’m totally screwing everything up. I have this dream of opening a dog shelter/sanctuary… guess what I’m doing to make this dream come true? NOTHING. Guys, Emma Watson is my age and she has already been Hermione, a UN ambassador, and a college graduate. I guess one out of three ain’t bad for me. #ugh
This is my first time linking up with Lauren for #HashtagHumpDay and Alanna for Confessions, and I feel like I’m gonna knock this one out of the park…
So here we go…
I’ve already designed and ordered my Christmas cards. Some would say I’m ahead of the pack… I would say I’m a nutcase.
I’ve joined a writers FB group and made some friends on #NaNoWriMo, but I still haven’t hit 2,000 words. #writingfail #thenextgreatJKRowling #NOT
(Sidenote: If you want to be my writing buddy on the site my username is audielou)
I’M SO PUMPED FOR CHRISTMAS! #sorryThanksgiving #MyMantelIsAlreadyAWinterWonderland
I love judging all the parenting choices people make when they bring their children shopping at my retail store… Yes, the employees do absolutely judge you. #I’mSorry #IfYouThreatenToPutTheItemBackAndYouDon’tFollowThroughIAmJudgingYou
GUYS. I was watching (and cracking up to) SNL’s Weekend Update Saturday night and replied to Taylor Wolfe‘s tweet AND COLIN JOST FREAKIN’ LIKED IT! #I’mACelebrity #DoesThisMeanWe’reDating #You’reFunnyButI’mMarried
I swear I’m trying to #hashtag correctly but I just can’t leave out punctuation #ApostrophesShouldCount #ContractionsHappen
Have you guys seen Casual on hulu? I LOVE IT and I’m so obsessed with Alex. I know he was Josh on The Mindy Project but he’s MUCH cuter as a sex addict (vs. cocaine addict). #DidThatEvenMakeSense? #AddictionIsn’tCute #GonnaStopWhileI’mAhead
I don’t know what to get my husband for Christmas… but I’m killin’ it with all my other gifts… #WifeOfTheYear
Also, I have this irrational fear that when I find the perfect gift for friends or family they will some how find it and buy it before I can gift it to them. #ItHappens #CanIJustGiftYouNow?
I’m not allowed to watch Criminal Minds when K isn’t home. Truthfully, I just can’t handle it. Like, earlier this week the office phone rang (in the basement) and my first thought was, ‘Oh my gosh, someone is luring me down there so they can grab me and slit my throat! (I hope they don’t hurt the dogs.)’ #IHaveAProblem #I’mGoingToGiveMySelfAHeartAttack
I wish I was kidding… Last night I went to dinner in a downtown area of a bigger city and was scared sh*tless to walk to and from my car. #HelpMeDr.Reed #HelpMeAgentMorgan #HelpMeTomCruise
I purchased a Harry Potter Adult coloring book for myself. #IAmInsanelyHappyAboutThis #INeedMoreColoredPencils
I love following bloggers on Snerpchert. Also, my husband got the app just so he could snap me from TX. My favorite ones right now are thenewwifestyle & thedailytay #IDidn’tUsedToGetTheTrend #NowIDo #DogSnerpchertsAreMyFav
Ok…. I think that’s more than enough.
Tell me tell me, what are your major confessions this week? This was fun! I might partake more often!
