Let’s get real today, friends. Do you ever look in the mirror and thing to yourself, “Oh crap”? I consider my Facebook and Instagram to be pretty honest representations of my life (food, dogs, sarcastic interactions), but they still represent edited snapshots of my life. Here’s the real story: I wake up late every morning. I skip dogs walks at least twice a week because I’m too tired. My toe nail polish is so chipped it belongs in an ancient Greek museum. My husband left for +1 week and I drank wine every night and had cereal for dinner. I’m sitting here writing this eating Ramon noddles for breakfast.
I mean, these aren’t huge confessions, but they’re the parts of life that make me feel like I’m totally screwing everything up. I have this dream of opening a dog shelter/sanctuary… guess what I’m doing to make this dream come true? NOTHING. Guys, Emma Watson is my age and she has already been Hermione, a UN ambassador, and a college graduate. I guess one out of three ain’t bad for me. #ugh

I hate shopping for my husband. He is the worst at buying whatever he wants so we try to make a rule that after Thanksgiving, we cant buy anything for ourselves till after Christmas 🙂 haha

I accidentally came across the coloring book while browsing Amazon and decided it’d be the perfect Christmas gift for my cousin! (And then I up-ed the quantity to 2 because I just had to have it! Ha!) My husband is the exact same way! I think I’m easy to buy for but he goes out and GETS whatever he wants! Ha! So difficult! 🙂

I’m really not much of a Christmas fan. I’m not Christian, to start off with, so there’s no religious aspect for me, but I think mostly it was ruined from working Christmas retail for so many years. Christmas music makes my ears want to bleed. That said, we might get a tree for the first time this year… but we’ll wait until a reasonable day, like the first of December 🙂

I think that working in retail during the holidays (I did it last year and will this year) makes me consciously try to spread cheer. I think if I did it all the time I’d get burnt out, but I try to be happy and smile at folks, even when they TOTALLY forget how to be festive. Fortunately, I only work 1 to 3 times a week so I get a break… And just so you know, the mantelpiece is decorated but my hub won’t let me get a tree until December so I’m not THAT crazy 😉

That’s it. Neither one of us are going into my basement. Hahahaha! For the record, I arrived 30 minutes early to my dinner that night so I could park RIGHT in front of the restaurant. AND I WAS STILL CONVINCED I’D BE ABDUCTED! Oh geez….. ha!

I have a few friends doing NaNoWriMo. One of them got behind, I think the other two are on track. I love the idea of it but I so wasn’t ready for it right now. Maybe next year.
I want to have a dog sanctuary too!!!! I really just want to save all the doggies. I would much rather interact with dogs than people. I have had a dream of opening up my boutique….and I was born a lot earlier than 1990 and I still haven’t done anything to accomplish that dream….so I understand your sentiment. I haven’t heard of Casual but I really liked that guy on The Mindy Project so I will have to check it out! I am ready for all the Christmas things!!!!

I try to use NaNoWriMo to keep myself accountable but if I just don’t visit the site or login then I don’t have to worry about the guilt…. ha. Not really the right mindset.
UGH. I would quit my job right now and open a shelter tonight if I thought I wouldn’t default on my mortgage and make my own dogs homeless in the process… haha. Why is nonprofit so non-profitable?! Some day we will open our sanctuaries and we can collaborate on adopters and available dogs 😉 I LOVE Casual but it is adult content soooo… definitely NSFW. Ha!

I confess I felt a little (just a little) guilty reading this post since my post says I’m not ready for Christmas. Speaking of Criminal Minds, I watched the movie 500 Days of Summer last week and seeing Matthew Gray Gubler as anything but Dr. Reed is weird.

Don’t feel guilty!! It can be Dec. 20th and you still shouldn’t feel guilty 🙂 You set your Christmas pace and do whatever you want to do! (I just always need a project so addressing Xmas cards is this weeks tasks.) I’ve seen 500 Days of Summer but I hadn’t discovered the world of Criminal Minds yet… now I need to go back and watch that movie I guess, ha!

Ha, I promise this whole I’ve-got-Christmas-half-done thing won’t last more than another week. December 24th will get here and I’ll realize I forgot to get my brother, mom, and uncle a gift. (Last year I had a nightmare that it was Christmas Eve and we didn’t have a tree…. The holidays are going to put me in therapy.)

Oh my gosh I have so many thoughts on this I don’t even know if I can get it all in one comment. I totally bought the HP coloring book too! I told myself it was for a White Elephant gift for a party we go to every year, but that if for some reason the party got canceled I could keep it for myself. Still toying with the idea of keeping it for myself. Also, already having your Christmas cards ordered is not crazy. I don’t have mine done yet and I’m all in a panic. I also get the irrational fear about those perfect gifts too – like what if someone already saw this and knew it was “her” and bought it already?! Which now just makes me feel very, very behind on Christmas shopping. I could keep going and going, but I feel like I’m super scatterbrained today so I’ll just leave it at that. I feel like my Christmas confession has shamed the majority of bloggers… that was NOT my intention!! I vote you probably just keep the coloring book… I mean, did you flip through it?? The pictures in the back are my favorite! I’m so glad I randomly found it on Amazon!! (I originally bought it for my cousin… but then up-ed the quantity to 2 🙂 ) I should say that I have half my gifts picked out… purchasing them is another story (and another d*mn paycheck).
