Spring Cleaning 2.0

Roughly a year ago I made a post entitled Spring Cleaning. Then in June I followed it up with this post and admitted to accomplishing roughly 47% of my goals.  That’s a failing grade, my friends.

So let’s give this whole Spring Cleaning thing another shot.

  • Condense three closets into two and donate/store clothes
  • Finish Year 2 scrapbook
  • Order pictures for Year 3 scrapbook (to be done after April 27th)
  • Scrub greasy build-up off kitchen cabinets
  • Landscape front yard (har har har)
  • Wash dog harnesses, leashes, beds, and blankets*
  • Re-organize Pinterest boards
  • Figure out what to do (decor-wise) in stairwell
  • Paint the front door and replace house numbers
  • Decide what to do with finished basement area… drum room? library?

For the record, I wash the dog blankets often but I just decided to throw them in with all the other canine accessories.

I ended with an even ten this time so the math would be super easy when I only complete a handful of these tasks. Set your goals low so the disappoint is greater or something like that, right? (Kidding. I have total faith I will accomplish 80-ish%.)

Okie dokie, Smokie. Let’s see how I do…

What big (or small) tasks are you going to accomplish this spring??

My list incudes decluttering, packing and selling things we don’t need for our big move that should be happening sometime in early June. Also doing a top -to-bottom clean…oh joy.

You’re going to be busy!!! I really hope we move in the next 2 or 3 years. I tell myself that if I clean and purge now I will have less to do then…
How are you planning on selling your stuff?? I’d love to find a simple way to make some money on our nicer clothes and items!

Mostly using Kijiji and also it just happens our apartment building holds a yard sale in April every year so hopefully we’ll be able to unload some things there!

I cannot even remember the last time I washed Hawkeye’s bed. So you’re already winning in my book! Good luck!

Haha! My big ol’ double-coat dog doesn’t get a bath very often. (It takes at LEAST 8 hours for her to dry. I try to plan around sunny days so I can leave her in the yard- and pray she doesn’t get muddy again.) So when the dogs get baths their beds get washed. Usually I try to do that with their two couch blankets and the one on our bed that they sleep on.

My list is so long on what I need to do to freshen up for Spring, i’ll probably finish right as Fall starts 🙂

Last year I had really high expectations. This year I feel like the list is more manageable 🙂 Although I REALLY want the landscaping to get done and I’m a little doubtful that’ll happen…

  4. I’m right there with you…I have to tackle all of this soon, because I don’t want to save it for the move this summer!

I wish I had the motivation for doing it like a move! I tell myself that if I clean and purge now then there will be less work one day when we have a kid or decide to move!

  5. since we just moved i am feeling less of a need to purse and clean since we did that however…our office needs some work and we need another desk! we foolishly got rid of the the second one because we didn’t think it would fit and this is not working well… sounds like you’ve got some things on your list!

I bet that feels awesome! I always loved when I moved into a fresh dorm room or apartment in college and I could set everything up and make my office space cozy 🙂 I just found a nice, simple desk at Target! It wasn’t too pricey either!

  6. Hahaha, I love how you included organizing Pinterest in here. Also, it had honestly never occurred to me to wash Ru’s leash! Do you just toss it in the washing machine or do you do it by hand?

I wash all of it in the machine! Their harnesses get so gross so I just throw everything in together. It makes a lot of noise, haha, but they come out good as new!

Spring cleaning is so therapeutic – still have to write my list of things to do. It is also a great way to make a little bit of pocket money by selling unused items (or give it to charity). I have good experience by selling smaller items on eBay and bigger items on Gumtree (great to sell furniture).

I love cleaning. I’m a big fan of organizing and getting everything put in its proper place (or getting rid of it)! I’ve never heard of Gumtree but I’ll have to check those sites out for selling! Thanks for the comment, Miriam!

I’m weirdly obsessive about keeping my Pinterest boards neat and tidy and up-to-date. It’s a weird way to spend my time, though… haha!
