Originally today was going to be a March book recap, but I’m going to save that for Friday (aka I need to finish the book). Instead, I’m drawing inspirations from Olya and talking about 5 USA cities that I’d like to visit soon!
1. Atlanta/Savannah
The husband has been to ATL before but I’ve never been to Georgia (other than driving through to FL). I feel like so much happens in Atlanta! I’d love to take a week and visit the city and explore the mountains and visit the Georgia coast! I know there are some fabulous islands just off the coast, too!
2. Austin
I refuse to visit Texas in the summer, but I’d be ok with venturing south any time between October and April. Maybe during SxSW? I really love the history of Texas and I’ve already been to San Antonio, so I feel like Austin a good Texan city to explore next!
3. Los Angeles
Honestly, I’ve never thought about traveling to LA… but Charlene’s post about Warner Bros Studio and all the fun things she and her husband did in LA peaks my interest! I think it’d be fun to spend a week in California and see all there is to see along that part of the coast.
4. Portland/Seattle
While we’re on the West Coast it only makes sense to tour the Pacific Northwest! Do Portlanders and Seattleites get upset when you combine their cities? (If so, I’m sorry!) This part of the US has been on my bucket list for a long time- hopefully we get to visit here soon!
5. Maine
I don’t eat lobster, so there’s no urgency to visit during one of their festivals ๐ I think that Maine is such an interesting state with all its culture and history and nature. I’m a big fan of the cool weather + coastal town combination. Is that weird? Most people want balmy beach weather…. I think Maine would be a great place to read/write/set a novel.
I want to see Hawaii and Alaska, too, but I stuck to the lower 48 states.
Any travel advice or must-see spotsย in these cities/states? What US destinations are on your bucket list?
I’ve heard amazing things about Charleston so it’s on my travel bucket list! Your list is similar to mine though!

Oooh, I won’t mind Charleston either! Charlotte is a nice town to visit, too, right? I get all my Carolina towns mixed up ๐

I would love to go to Savannah too! Actually, all of your cities listed. I’m about three hours from Austin now so I’ve been a few times – definitely a place to visit.

I’m not a hot weather person so any southern, non-coastal cities must be visited in the fall/winter ๐ I have a co-worker that spends a lot of time in Savannah and on the island down there and he makes it sound SO nice!

I want to visit NYC so badly – the hubs is like NO WAY… I’ll have to recruit someone to do it with me ๐

Definitely! I went to NYC on a whirlwind band trip when I was a sophomore in high school and it was a great time! I’d love to go & stick to my own schedule someday, though! My husband is anti-NYC, too, though! Lol!

I’ve always wanted to go to Savannah! I will never go to Atlanta again. I had to go for a week with my high school band and show choir, and well, for obvious reasons that ruined it for me ๐ Los Angeles is so much fun, despite the horrifying traffic. I have been dying to go to Seattle and Austin! I feel like I would love them both. I went to Portland and Maine as a young kid, but obviously that means I need to hopefully go back someday ๐

My husband was in Atlanta for high school band ๐ haha! I’m pretty sure he was sick with a super high fever the whole time, though, so I doubt he remembers much…
Anywhere I go I think I’d opt for public transportation because I just don’t trust myself driving in big, strange cities- especially LA!

I’m so glad my post peaked your interest about LA. I really wish we could have spent more than a couple days there. I kinda already wanna go back asap and see everything we didn’t get to. Also, having grown up in Atlanta, I can attest to the fact that it’s a great place to visit. And I LOVE Savannah. It’s one of my favorite cities in the country! I love the history and the river and just the whole feel.

You’re such a convincing travel agent! Georgia is so far from Ohio (and once you get there you might as well just keep going into FL), but I really, really want to make it a priority to see those two cities!

The only one I’ve done on your list is Atlanta – it was definitely a lot of fun so I would recommend it! I’ll be going to Seattle in August, I’ll let you know.

It seems like most people are all about Atlanta! I feel like my next step is to research some AirBnBs in the city or checkout hotel pricing ๐ Have fun in Seattle!! I want to go SO badly!

Thanks for the shoutout! ๐ I saw you promote this post on Twitter, so I had to click and see what was on your list! Austin is a great city to see Texas, though I’m partial to Fredericksburg! I LOVE Seattle-such a gorgeous city! We visited several cities in Maine on a fall foliage cruise, and I’m in love! I keep telling Chris I would love to have a summer cabin in Maine someday. ๐

Oooooh, a fall foliage cruise? SIGN ME UP! We’re checking out Massachusetts, Boston, and New Hampshire this summer but I’m so determined to visit the New England states in the fall. I can’t imagine how gorgeous that is!

I feel like I can’t call myself a true Starbucks lover until I’ve stepped foot int he original store… ya know? ๐ Since I’m from Ohio I plan on hitting ALL the Pacific NW cities in one shot!

YES! absolutely you need to go to portland/seattle (i don’t get mad when they go together since they are both cool cities)! i would recommend flying into one of the cities and then taking the amtrak train (3ish hours) to the other one. it’s an insanely gorgeous ride along the columbia river gorge and you know i’ll tell you all the best places to go/eat/see/do!
oh and you forgot to add colorado to your list. thanks ๐

I’d love to go to California someday…and I’d love to spend more time checking out Florida…and see Yellowstone with my husband…and the Grand Canyon. I think those are all the big USA destination I have in mind at this point.

I’ve never been to California but I really, really want to see the nature parks there! I went to Yellowstone with my parents when I was in hs and I LOVE it- K needs to see it, though! The western half of this country is SO gorgeous!

but when youโre in LA can you come see the southern CA wine country? because itโs GORG.

That sounds FANTASTIC! I think we can definitely spend some time sipping wine in different vineyards in southern California! ๐ I might never leave once I start… !

There’s a ‘Portland/Seattle rivalry’ but I think it’s garbage because they’re super similar in most ways. I absolutely love both of them so I don’t think looping them together is offensive! Austin and Savannah are both super high on my list.

I had this weird feeling that there might be a rivalry… Honestly, when I think I one I think of the other. But maybe people feel that way about Midwestern and Eastern cities? I don’t know ๐ I told my husband I wanted to go to Georgia soon and he didn’t argue so I feel like that’s a step in the right direction for us ๐ I’m glad to hear from you!! Your presence was missed!
