If you’ll recall, back in December of 2015 I made some goals for the new year. My mind is completely blown that we’re already past the halfway point for 2016. Some days and weeks drag on, but overall I think this year is flying. The second half (actually, the last quarter) of the year is my favorite so things are only going to speed up for me!
Today I was inspired by Chelsea to go back and look at the resolution I’d made for 2016. To be totally honest, I haven’t thought about or referenced this list since I made it. Hopefully my subconscious brain kept me on track 🙂
Start running. Alright… I’m going to half cross this off because I have started running. I’m not a consistent runner, though, so I don’t want to totally own this one yet. Still working on it…
Learn to cook more (vegetarian) meals. Nah…. this hasn’t happened at all.
Find a word for 2016. I settled on embrace. So far I think I’ve done a pretty good job at embracing changes and opportunities this year.
Read, read, read. And write. I’ve already read more books in 6 months than I didn’t in 2015. Next year I will set a numerical goal. To see what I’ve read this year you can check out my 2016 Book Nook .
Volunteer. I’ve done the orientation… I just need to get myself to the shelter.
So there ya have it. Halfway through the year with roughly half of my list checked off. I’m ok with that.
How are your resolutions or year-long goals coming along?
I think you’re on track! Halfway through the year having half of your goals down is pretty great. I just settled on a word for 2016 — fearless. I think I’m doing okay remembering to embrace this world but the biggest thing I’ve learned so far is that there really is no such thing as being fearless. All you can be is brave! I love your word – embrace.

Thank you, Carolann! I feel pretty ok about my goals 🙂 I need to put some numbers on that running goal so I can check them off. Ha. I think fearless is the perfect word- you’re going to rock that word this year!

bahaha i feel the same as j-law in cheering for you! well done on working towards making your goals happen! one thing i recommend is putting a measurable component to them, so you can tangibly feel total success in accomplishing them! take your running one for instance: alter it slightly so that it says “run for at least 20 minutes 3 times a week” or whatever your goal is! that always helps me feel more accomplished and accountable!

Thanks, Chelsea! Originally I wanted to be able to run a 5k by the one I signed up for in August (the 6th) but A. that’s not going to happen and B. the girls I’m doing it with aren’t planning on running. But I’d still like to be able to run a 5k. I need to get serious about one of those couch-to-5k apps! Same with the shelter; I need to commit to two visits a month or something and build it up from there 🙂

I know!! I think we’ll start with meatless Mondays and see how vegetarian we can get. (Shhh, don’t tell Kyle 😉 )

I think you are making good progress on your goals and you still have half the year left to accomplish the rest!!! Running is overrated. Haha. I did the C25K thing two years ago and I still hate running. An evil necessity I suppose. Good luck with the rest of your goals!

I actually think it’s encouraging to hear other runners say that they struggle sometimes. Some days I feel good after I jog for a bit and some days I feel like garbage. My running friends tell me they have good and bad days, too 🙂

Set out to read 60 books, I’m on 10…Hmmm should have said “many books” 😂

Haha- well, 10 is better than 0! I think I read two in 2015 so I’m very happy to be reading at all this year. I don’t know why I fell into such a lull but I’m glad to be climbing out of the reading-less pit 🙂

Good list and well on the way to accomplishing most of it by the end of the year. You can do it!

Thanks, Erin! I tried to make then challenging but manageable. I think based on my progress I succeeded, ha.

Except for my progression with my reading goals, that J. Law gif is appropriate for me too. 🙂

Good job! I think running at all is good, even if not regularly. That is what I’m telling myself at least 😉

I can run slightly further than I could at the beginning of the year. And I don’t feel like death afterward. I’m counting that as a success 😉

Seriously cannot believe we are halfway thru this year, holy cow! BUT- you are kicking butt! I have lots of vegetarian meals saved on my Pinterest boards, fyi!!! 🙂 Also, I’m dying to know what was said in that gif… the people’s face’s around JLaw are hilarious!!!

I can’t believe we’re halfway through the year, either. It’s so crazy to me…. (I will SO TOTALLY be checking out those boards! After my brother’s wedding next weekend life should slow down significantly- so I’ll focus on some cooking!)
The guy beside her looks so… disturbed? Haha. I have no idea what’s actually going on in the gif!

I have this post coming in a few weeks. Overall, I am doing well. Some I am totally slacking at/haven’t started and they are the “hard” ones… so that’s unfortunately to be expected. Looking back at goals monthly really helps me stay on track though which is good! 🙂 Awesome job so far! 🙂 XO – Alexandra

I think you’re definitely doing great with your goals! I love seeing what other people’s goals are since I always feel like I either push myself WAY too hard or go WAY to easy on myself. Sigh.
My ‘word of the year’ is Service and I think I’m doing okay with it but I’ve been slacking since before the move and now that we’ve moved, I know I can do better with volunteering and being more helpful towards my husband but it’s just not happening. Hoping to step it up soon when things settle down here.

You’ve got a lot going on, lady. I totally understand you falling a little behind on your word. I’m sure once you’re all settled in (and you have your stuff!) you’ll be running at 100% and checking off your goals!
