Monday I tackled the first half of the alphabet in regards to Cape Cod. Today I’ll tackle the second half.
This will essentially sum up my vacation 🙂 I have a guest post next month with Olya on The Siberian American with more details on Nantucket, so keep an eye out for that!
N -New Hampshire Motor Speedway. This was our first trip to this race track! I’m glad we got to experience it!
O – Oysters. Three of us (not K) tried oysters for the first time. Um…. we all agreed that they’re gross. Haha!
P – Pit passes. We had passes to go down into the race track pits. It was awesome to see the cars and crew up close.
Q – Qualifying. I’ve never watched the Sprint Cup (NASCAR) qualifying races but we had tickets to all three days of racing in NH!
R – Restaurants. We had a kitchen in the hotel & we ate-in a few times, but we hit up so many delicious restaurants in the cape.
S – Shipyard. We didn’t have a set plan for Boston so when K suggested the shipyard we put on our walking shoes and went!
T – Two hours and 15 minutes. That’s the length of the ferry ride from Hyannis Port to Nantucket.
U – Unscheduled. We took an unplanned, unscheduled stop in Plymouth, MA to see Plymouth rock!
V – Vehicle… er, land vehicle. We took a DUCK boat all around Boston Friday morning & learned a little about the city and it’s history!
W – Whale watching! I loved whale watching- especially seeing the moms and calves!
X – eXhaustion. (Ok, that’s a stretch…) On Wednesday I found myself tired & nauseous. I think heat exhaustion got the best of me.
Y – Yelping. Our dogs actually cried and yelped when we walked back through the door. (Or maybe that was me….)
Z – Zee end. Overall, it was a ridiculously packed vacation that came right on the eve of my brother’s wedding… Which means I’m already dreaming about a tropical beach and spiked drink 😉

did you already know the size of plymouth rock because when we went there a few years ago i was totally shocked at how tiny it is! so happy you had such a great family vacation and also you’re very brave for trying oysters.

No! We were so shocked, too! My husband really enjoys history so he was reading all the signs about how the rock is now 1/9th that size it used to be? I had NO idea it’d be so small! Haha!

From what I hear we got lucky? Some people have had great whale watching experiences and some people can sat on a boat for 4 hours and witnessed nothing… I recommend it, though!

Ah that sounds so fun! We went whale watching in Boston a few years ago and it was such a dream! I love whales the very most of any animal, it was incredible! And since we did it through the aquarium it was really cheap!! I haven’t tried oysters.. they kind of look weird.. but I want to try them eventually! 🙂 Glad that you had a great trip, and I hope that the wedding was fun! XO – Alexandra

We wanted to visit the aquarium but our truck didn’t fit in the parking garage… haha. Then we ended up parking at our hotel & walking to the shipyard instead!
Oysters were definitely not good… And that’s coming from someone who loves shellfish and seafood! Just not my thing… ha!

Ahhh whale watching would be so cool!!! I have always loved dolphins and going to the aquarium and stuff but I feel like I have a special appreciation for whales after reading Silver Bay a few months back! Food is what I live for on vacation. I love trying new places!

I’ve never read that, but on our way out to the ocean to see the whales we found ourselves amongst a pod of 300-ish dolphins. It was awesome. I think they’re one of the coolest animals!

Our fur babes were SO happy to have a home. I felt bad leaving them again for three days for the brother’s wedding! 😦
The ferry ride was long but after the bike ride on the island it was relaxing to sit and chill for a while on the way home 😉

I LOVED watching your trip on snapchat…it gave me life! because that part of the country is one of the only ones I haven’t really explored, and it’s beautiful.

Thanks, Erin! 🙂 I’ve only been to Nantucket. Being on the upper East Coast is definitely different than the Carolinas and southern coast!

I went whale watching in Canada yeeeears ago (Orcas!) and I so want to go again!!! I also dream of going to Nantucket or some other cute little coastal New England town!

Oooooh! I’d love to see Orcas! I’d really like to do an Alaska cruise and experience all that! Nantucket is definitely cute. I’ve visited from the mainland and stayed on the island- both options are enjoyable! (Also, there’s a ferry that will get you there faster than +2 hours. We were just ok with the slower, cheaper option.)

I have a rule for trying food…I’ll try anything at least twice. Twice, because my taste buds do change, and I have learned to enjoy food I didn’t used to like. But, you are correct. Oysters are gross (and that’s after my double taste test!)

For the most part, I will try anything. I’m not picky. That said, sometimes things just don’t work out. Haha! I’ll probably try them again in a few years, but the it’s the fishy, salty water that sits in them that I just can’t handle. Haha!

How cool, we’ve never been up to Cape Cod and around. I’d like to see Plymouth Rock. Whale watching is so fun. It’s awesome to see how huge they are in real life.

Cape Cod is small but cute 🙂 Very few chains and lots of rocky/shelly beaches. And Plymouth Rock is actually really small- haha!

It was awesome! I love to see animals in nature doing their thing 🙂 And our guides were environmentalists so we were sure to disturb them as little as possible. I definitely recommend the trip!
