My Favorite Household Appliances

Happy Monday, ladies and gents!
Did y’all have a nice weekend? I hosted a party on Friday, cleaned my house on Saturday, and helped a friend move on Sunday. K had a business trip so it was one of those wine-&-popcorn-in-bed + books kind of weekends. Totally not mad about it 😉

Alright, on to today’s topic (which was slightly inspired by this post from Kristen).

Appliances

I don’t consider myself materialistic in the least. If our house caught fire the only non-living thing I’d try to save would be my stuffed bunny rabbit from childhood (appropriately named “Bunny”). That said, there are some things in our house that I really, really love.

(These are not affiliated links. I’m not tech-savvy enough to do that. I actually own & love this stuff!)
(If you use affiliated links in your posts I’m a-ok with that. I just don’t.)

Our Vacuum
We bought our vacuum with wedding giftcards/return credit from BB&B. When we walked in we thought we were going to walk out with a Dyson, but we ended up with a Shark because the sales woman told us that they constantly get returned Dysons but people love their Sharks. Yep, she was 100% right about loving the Shark vacuum. We have this one (I think) and it’s perfect for our daily dirt and dog hair collection. It’s my favorite cleaning tool!

Our Smart TV
We have two TVs in our house and the living room one is a smart TV. (I’m not sure of the brand and for the sake of this post, it doesn’t matter.) Most of the shows we watch together are on streaming platforms and it’s so amazing to access Netflix/Hulu/iHeartRadio/Amazon Prime with the touch of a button. I love it. In my opinion, if the choice should ever arise, a smart TV is worth it.

Our Blender
I am a firm believer in glass blenders. Not to be morbid and inappropriate, but I’ve told my grandma that I’d like to inherit her old-school glass blender “when she’s done with it.” (Ok, that’s totally morbid and inappropriate… I swear it’s a running joke now, though.)

accessories

When we got married I registered for my own glass blender and we received it, and I’m soooo happy to have it. Honestly, things just taste better coming from a glass blender; it’s science.

Our Pots & Pans
We blindly registered for pots&pans before our wedding and by sheer luck we ended up with some absolute winners. I will recommend Calphalon to anyone that will listen. We received this set (I think) from some very generous guests. (Yes, I still remember who gifted us what.) They’re easy to clean and they’re durable. I also think they look classy- but that’s not what matters most, I guess. Honestly, I’m a mediocre cook and I let dirty dishes sit way too long, and these guys still hold up.

Things I’d like to own…

Shark Steam Mop
Our kitchen & dining room are hardwood. Someday we’d like to make the living room hardwood. Before that day come, I need a steam mop!

An electric griddle
For the love of everything, I have been asking for an electric griddle for yeaaars. Maybe it’s time to suck it up and buy myself one like an adult. Ha.

Food processor
I’m pretty sure owning a food processor is the only way to be a good chef. So I guess I need one. #logic

. . .

What household items do you love? Is there anything on your wishlist that you need 😉 ?

You know, I wanted to write a blog post like this a while ago… I guess if I did it know, it’d be stealing haha!

Sometimes I think about my favourite kitchen things like the lame adult that I am.

Hands down, my favourite is my blender. Followed by my steamer. Then this giant pizza cutter thing my husband got on amazon because a standard pizza cutter wasn’t good enough. Oh and I love my dustbuster too 🙂

You can totally still write it! I borrowed the idea from Kristen (and I sincerely hope she doesn’t mind).
I would say our kitchen is 75% the reason we (or maybe I) bought our house. I love it. And I love all my appliances in it 🙂

I want a steam mop so badly myself – I just told Ricky that this weekend. My kitchen floors are crying for it.
I also need a food processor. How am I 45 & never had one?
That’s funny about the blender. My mom had one just like that when I was growing up.

Um, when that kitchen is all remodeled and b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l. you’re gonna NEED that steam mop 😉 In the winter all my soup recipes call for a food processor!

Nah. You’re growing a human- you can let cleaning slide by the wayside 😉
I loooooooove our vacuum. It’s unnatural how much I talk to people about it. Ha!

That vacuum sounds wonderful!!! I wouldn’t mind getting a new one now that we no longer have Gracie. She shed a ridiculous amount and our vacuum cleaner is forever ruined from it I think. Mac doesn’t really shed since he has hair instead of fur. I am a fan of Shark, I have a handheld shark I have had for years and years that I use to clean the cars with now but before I used it around my tiny apartment when I lived in Atlanta.

I love Calphalon too and that is really all I buy unless I see something that looks cool at TJ Maxx or something. I love seeing what other people use daily!

We actually need to get our carpets professionally cleaned, but until I pull the trigger on that our Shark does an amazing job. I’m actually pretty good about cleaning out the vacuum, too, and it’s easy enough to do with the one we have 🙂
TJ Maxx/Marshalls are the BEST places to find kitchen gadgets!

I totally laughed out loud about the blender. Glad it’s a running joke now!

I LOVE our vacuum. Before putting it on our registry I researched the heck out of them! It’s a Miele Contour S2, and it’s AMAZING. Vacuuming, even though technically we don’t have any carpet is my favourite job ever. I’m lazy so instead of sweeping, I vacuum.

The very first time I said it- which was YEARS ago- I was like, “Oops. Wait. That came out wrong…” Now it’s just a funny fact that while my grandparents have antiques and vintage cars and everything else… the only thing I’ve ever asked for is the blender. Ha!

I HAVE A STUFFED BUNNY FROM CHILDHOOD NAMED BUNNY.
    How dare you.
Also, I totally remember some of the things people gifted us. Isn’t that weird what stays in your head and what you forget?

Hahahaha! I LOVE my bunny! He still resides on my nightstand 😀
It’s such a brain-waste that I remember gift-givers, but I absolutely do! All the more pressure to gift me the right though, right?? (Just kidding.. ha!)

  7. Love the shark, but love canister vacs even more now (mine is Panasonic).

I say buy the electric griddle AND the food processor. The food processor makes a million things so much easier.

My mom used to have a canister vacuum but it was cheap. (Although for being a cheap-y, it wasn’t bad!) I used my mom’s griddle when I was a teen and I’ve been SO SOUR for SO LONG about not having my own. I’ll give my family one more birthday/Christmas to gift it to me, then I’m treating myself 😉 Hahaha!

  8. hehe fun list! Someday I need to invest in a really good vacuum. The one we got 4 years ago for our wedding is still kicking just fine… but I can tell it’s not going to last forever. I really love our cast iron enameled dutch oven – we use it ALL THE TIME! Also, the second blender we got – to replace the crappy registry one! – is fab. It’s glass and has metal ice crunching blades with metal gear turny things on the bottom. It’s kinda retro looking and it works like perfection. I looooove it. Also my citrus reamer. EVERYONE laughed and laughed and said I would never use it at my shower. It was also onsale for like $5 and they thought it was hilarious. I use that sucker anytime I need to juice a lemon/orange/lime. It’s THE BEST! 😛 XO – Alexandra

Dutch ovens intimidate me because I have NO idea how to cook in them. Haha.
Glass blender, my friend! The only way to go!
I’ve never even heard of a citrus reamer! (I just googled it.) I think we have a fancy crystal one that came to me through a family member, but I’ve never used it! Haha!

Never thought I’d say this, but I kind of want a food processor, too! Most recipes I’ve been saving on Pinterest require a food processor, so there’s that. Bahaha!

All the soup recipes I find have a food processor step some where in there! Plus, can’t you chop nuts and veggies and stuff with one? Either way, we both need one 😉

(I fixed your comment for ya! Haha!)
