Add It To My (Super Random) List

By skipping Mondays I lose my opportunity to recap my weekend. If you were curious, I had a good one 🙂 Fun fact: I spent every weekend in February out of town. First Cleveland, then San Antonio, then Columbus, and then Cleveland again last weekend. Some trips for business, some for pleasure. This weekend Kayla and I visited Aubrey and her fiance Alyssa because Aubs is recovering from surgery and we went up to celebrate her transformation and keep her company. (You can follow her story/creep on her here. She’s #InstaFamous)

In an attempt to stay hip and trendy I’m trying to keep track of the fun link-ups that go on in the blog world. I managed to jot down the schedule for the Add It To My List link-up with Lauren and Bre, so here we are.

Firstly, these three products were recommended by other bloggers:

I’m easily influence by others… I went out and bought this stuff immediately because I was in the market for some quality polish and comfy shoes for work. (The polish remover is cruelty-free & I needed that toiletry in c.f. form.) All three have my seal of approval!

Bamboo bedding…
Two years ago my grandparents gifted K and I some bamboo bedding. GUYS- we fell in love with it immediately. They’d bought it from Marshalls, so obviously I’ve never come across it again. Then last week this idiot (me) remembered Amazon exists and I have a Prime account. So I ordered some sheets. (How many pairs of sheets do you have for your bed? We have two. I always have to be on my laundry A-game, especially when I peel the sheets right before vacation and make the bed for the dogsitter, then come home and remember that now both sheets are dirty and I’m too exhausted to do laundry.)
I digress. Bamboo sheets are the softest and most comfy sheets ever. Go get some.

On to another random thing…

Go make this recipe:

One-Pan Veggies & Sausage

sausage-bake

I made this last week and it was a hit (with all two of us). It’s crazy simple- the “hardest” part was chopping all the veggies. We had rice with it. (I also made Brussels sprouts separately because they looked so good at the store and K doesn’t like them so I couldn’t mix them in. But then he ate some so…. that was a minor victory in my kitchen.)

(I’m pretty sure I took this recipe and another one (this!) from Nadine’s Pinterest!)

. . .

This fall K and I are planning to visit Disney. I’ve been there a handful of time, but I’ve never planned the trip. (I was a child and/or a band student on prior trips.) Kyle has never been to the happiest place on Earth, so I’m hoping to show him a good time. I’m looking for tips, tricks, and advice right now. I know how to “do” Disney, but any reminders or travel tidbits would be helpful. 🙂

Enjoy these last two days of February!

Thanks, Kathy! Yesterday I googled how early I could make reservations (180 days) and then marked it in my planner 🙂
We’re planning to go to Disney World for four days (plus one on each end for travel). We’ll do MK, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT. We’re gonna skip the water parks on this trip.

I’m so glad someone else has discovered the wonderfulness of bamboo sheets!! When we got the package we were like, “Whaaaa…?” but now we love them and we’ll never go back!

I like the remover, but it does take a little extra scrubbing. It makes my nails feel great, though!

I got the polish remover but it didn’t work for me. I might not be holding it on my nail long enough before attempting to wipe it off.

It was delicious! Then I mixed the leftovers with some fried eggs and avocado for breakfast 🙂
The remover took some extra scrubbing and originally it left some color around my nail bed, but after I washed my hands it was all gone. I’ll stick with it since it has so many good qualities.

I’m glad you like the nail polish! I’m slowly buying all the colors.

Almost as soon as you mentioned the polish I went to Walgreens with my best friend and saw it on sale at 3 for $10. So I bought 3 and so did she. Lol!

Disney!! Are you doing Disney World or Disney Land? I’ve been to both and they are so different but equally amazing. I am surely no expert, but it’s always so much fun to just get away from real life and be in the happiest place on earth! My brother goes to Disney World pretty often and he always books restaruants far in advance to make sure he gets the reservations he wants.

K is weird about our sheets. He’s hot no matter what so flannel sheets are always out of the question (*sigh* there are SO many cute patterns) and jersey sheets are a no-go, too. (He says they make him hot.) I think he’d laugh me out of the room if I tried silk… lol. Anyway, cotton has always been safe but now that we’ve discovered bamboo we’ve both sworn that we’re never going back 🙂

Yeah, K’s body temperature is ridiculous at night and he sweats like a fool. Flannel and jersey are a no-go for use for those reasons. We’re both in love with out bamboo sheets, though!

  17. i think i have eight sets of sheets? the trouble is i used to work at pottery barn kids, and i’ve four sets of star wars sheets: star wars in flannel, empire strikes back, return of the jedi and millenium falcon in cotton; as well as a set of grinch ones for the holidays. then, purchased during a brief tenure at restoration hardware, a set of pale yellow ones. then mom bought me a set of flannel sheets with sock monkeys on them. i used to have a set of olive ticking striped ones from pottery barn. i got the majority of these for like half off. employee discounts are beautiful things. the falcon ones were a christmas gift. i can’t remember when i got the sock monkeys. they’re probably the oldest set.

as for disney, get maps of the parks and get your fastpasses in advance. we planned our fastpasses without looking at the park layout. i would not advise doing this, because we were walking all over the place, very often crossing a park three times in a day. i don’t think you need to do hollywood studios; it was my least favorite of the parks. each park has after hours, from eight to ten, but only one park per night. we stayed at kidani village, i think, was the name of the resort, and i loved it. i did not go to animal kingdom; my brother, his wife and the twins did, and i vaguely remember the kids saying it was their favorite. there’s a roller coaster there, something about kilimanjaro, apparently it’s pretty scary. of the four of them, the only one who liked it was my eight-year-old nephew. the aerosmith one at epcot was a little frightening to me, but then i’m a weenie when it comes to these things, and i rode it by myself. i wouldn’t do the food plans, partly because they encourage you to make reservations in advance… too much planning, too much be at this ride at this time or this restaurant at this time… it takes the fun out of it. so the fastpasses is probably the only thing i would plan. and then wing it the rest of the way. also, there was a kitchen in our suite. get some groceries when you get there. if you’re not renting a car, uber a trip to the grocery store, maybe? the only restaurant i liked was the t-rex cafe, and for that you will need to do reservations. their appetizers are really good. the restaurant’s really cool. less planning, more doing. my favorite rides were the seven dwarfs mine train or whatever at magic kingdom and the test track at epcot.

Hahaha! I don’t see any problem with having that many sets of sheets 🙂 We sleep in a king bed but before that we had a queen (which is now in the guest room). Our queen sheets have taken a beating (and now the dogs curl up in/on that bed), so we’ll need to get a new set for that room, too.

Thank you for the Disney advice! Animal Kingdom is actually my favorite park, too. Lol! We’re going to do the park hopper so if we get bored/finish all we want to do at Hollywood Studios we might pack up and spend a few more house in the MK 🙂 The first time I went to Disney was in 1994 and things have changed SO MUCH. Even since my trip in 2009!

  18. Oooh, that food looks delicious!

We have 3 sheets for our bed and 2 for the spare bed – one of the spare bed ones was Jan’s before we moved in together – he had one blue sheet and one white sheet, and we now use the blue one for the spare room along with an extra blue sheet I bought after we got a place together. I had 2 white sheets, so now we have 3 white ones for our bed. And that’s way more than you ever wanted to know about our bed sheets 😉

      Hahahaha, I mean… I asked, right?
We got a very inexpensive, low count pair of sheets when we switched to our king bed. Then we were gifted the bamboo set. Then last week I finally bought a third set (bamboo forever now).
Our spare bed is our old queen. I think we have two sets of sheets? (Which is weird, because I’ve had a queen bed forever and I can’t figure out where all my bedding went from my teen years. Lol.) Anyway, those sheets absolutely need replaced, but the bed gets used by humans maybe three or four times a year. The rest of the time the dogs go dig into the sheets and make themselves comfortable. I love my dogs, but they have four beds of their own and I’m not buying them new sheets to destroy. Lol.

One pan dinners are definitely my favorite kind. Glad you like the remover! I hate acetone removers now, I’m even more sensitive to the smell. I use the Julep polishes and the CND Vinylux line and it takes the Julep ones off in one swipe. CND ones take a little more soaking but it’s worth it.
I have 2 sets of sheets per bed, so 4 total.
For Disney, this book is super cute and fun: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1440587809/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3VDG53PGQJ8TP&coliid=I3N33SD7JVH3JN It’ll be good because you actually will get something out of it too, rather than only getting newbie advice for K.

  22. This recipes looks awesome! I just opened it. I agree, I definitely love blogger recommendations. I follow them pretty frequently! We have 3 sets of sheets I think. But one rarely gets used because we keep the fitted one on the bottom of the box spring. That keeps cats out. #annoying Disney sounds awesome, but also meh because I don’t like rides, or heat, or crowds. LOL I’m so fun! 😛 We are planning NOLA and NYC. 🙂 XO – Alexandra
