The Boy Who Lived… ⚡

The stress levels around these parts are unreal. If you follow me on IG, you saw we listed our house last week. We got an offer within 2 days of it being online and we accepted it on Saturday. We’re pumped, but also stressed because inspections/appraisals/financing/buying a new home/money/moving/packing/fencing/fees/etc./etc./etc.

Also, as I mention all the time, summer is our busy season professionally. *groan*

So today I’m doing something fun that I can’t believe I’ve never done before: A Harry Potter Tag. (Thanks to Stephanie and Jenn for the questions!)

1. What is your favorite book?

The Prisoner of Azkaban. (& the Deathly Hallows)
2. What is your favorite film?
Order of the Phoenix. Although I think the Half-Blood Prince is hilarious up until the cave scene.

3. What is your least favorite book?
Goblet of Fire. I feel like most people say this one or OtP.
4. What is your least favorite film?
Probably Goblet of Fire, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve seen it.
5. Parts of the books/films that made you cry?
Probably every other scene for some reason or another. Molly v. Bellatrix, Hedwig’s final scene, the death of the twin, Dudley and Harry’s goodbye, Narcissa protecting her baby bear Draco & lying to Voldy. Also, Harry rescuing Ginny in the 2nd book always gets me since I know their end story 🙂 There are many, many more moments.
6. If you could hook up with any character, who would it be?
Movie George Weasley. Book Lupin. (Is that weird…?)

7. Who is your favorite character?
Book Ginny. Movie Molly. I like the twins, Luna, and Tonks in both forms, too.
8. Who is your least favorite character?
Umbridge is garbage. Duh.
But also Dumbledore. (Go ahead, burn me at the stake.) Snape also never won me over. And Wormtail creeped me ouuuuut.
9. What is your favorite quote?
I can’t even begin to answer this- book or movie quotes.

10. What is your least favorite quote?
“I must not tell lies.” (Crazy bitch…)
11. What would your Patronus be?
Pottermore said a basset hound, but I think it’d be a fox 🙂 Or a hawk.
12. What would your Boggart be?
A dinosaur riding a giant horse.
13. What would you rather have – the elder wand, the resurrection stone or the invisibility cloak?
The cloak.  Duhhh.
14. Which house would you be in?
Ravenclaw. (When Pottermore was revamped it re-housed me into Gryffindor. But nah.)

15. If you were on the Quidditch team, which position would you play?
I think chaser. Or I’d chill in the stands 😉
16. Which class would be your favorite?
Either Transfiguration or Care of Magical Creatures.
17. If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?
Do Tonks and Lupin count as one…? (Sorry Hedwig/Fred/Dobby) I freaking hate that they died. Or maybe Sirius. He still had a lot of fight in him.
18. What would your job be in the magical world?
I think I’d want to be a professor at Hogwarts.
19. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
Dame Maggie Smith & Emma Watson. I typically consider people to be people regardless of their “job”, but those ladies are so badass I think I’d faint.
20. Were you happy with the ending?
Yes. But I hated the spin “The Cursed Child” put on it. I refuse to believe Ron and Hermione had such a common and predictable love. And Ginny is better than that play gave her credit for.

Annnnd there we have it.

Goblet of Fire is your favorite??! It’s actually my least favorite, lol!

  2. totally agree with you on so many of these! (not all…snape got to me at the end there, and also I’m a sucker for the movie version.) I also love how you specified book vs. movie faves, because you are soooo right. they are completely different (with the exception of McGonagall, she is a badass bitch no matter what).

McGonagall will forever and always be the MOST badass bitch of all. I freakin’ love her.
Ugh… I feel like 85% (or more) of HP lovers forgave or were won over by Snape. I just couldn’t… Maybe I’m not romantic enough. Hahaha!

Congrats!!! That is so awesome that you got an offer so quickly!!! It seems the market is doing good things right now in many areas around the country. I love HP but I only read the books about 4 years ago, never seen the movies yet. I still need to read Cursed Child. I laughed at the Lupin comment.

Ughhh. Obviously I spoke to soon with the house. Sigh…
At least you’ve read the books only vs. just watched the movies. You’ve experienced the best part 😉 Although I totally would recommend watching the movies! They’re magical in their own right! (I’d skip Cursed Child… ha.)

  4. Since I’m not on IG yet, I didn’t realize you sold your house! Congratulations! And I love this tag and plan to borrow it sometimes. The Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite book too but my least favorite movie. You know how that goes – book is almost always better than the movie, so I took deep offenses to changes and things left out. 😀

I spoke too soon. Our buyers backed out so we’re still on the market. *sigh* But thank you 🙂
      Definitely use this tag!
I’m a strong believe in separating books from movies with this franchise. The books are obviously amazing and magical and undeniable, but the films have great casting and acting, awesome effects, and a beautiful score. So I think they have to be judge separately…. (otherwise I’ll get too pissed that Winky never makes an appearance and we don’t meet the older Weasley brother until #7.)

  5. Omg, those memes! I had to muffle myself laughing at “Voldetort.” So tell me more about the reasons for not liking Dumbledore. I’m intrigued.

    1. Louise says:

The Voldetort meme had me doubled over. Lol
Let me start by saying it’s been a long time since I’ve read the books. But Dumbledore was so damn secretive and manipulative, especially with Harry and his friends. I felt like he took advantage of Harry’s power without ever letting him in on the secret. He sent him on adult missions without adult information. And the backstory on Dumbledore’s climb to power didn’t paint him in a good light. I felt like he was trying to find redemption for that through Harry’s youth and call to action.
I need to reread all the books, though.

I cant believe Snape never grew on you. Maybe that’s why I liked the Cursed Child so much because I was so glad to have him back for a bit.
& the crying – the ugliest cry ever for me – when Dobby dies.. In the movie, I sobbed.

    yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
selling a house is stressful as all get out. i do not envy you that. it was awful. seriously. but just take it one step at a time, i’m sure everything will work out fine, but don’t stress about things you can’t control.
i liked dumbledore but didn’t love him. snape did win me over but i wasn’t obsessed with him.
a dinosaur riding a big horse hahahaha
my patronus was an otter i think? but i say cat, duh.
    voldetort! harry the lizard! hahahaha
i would bring everyone back – lupin, tonks (sobbing), fred.. don’t much care about dumbledore (he had enough time) but hedwig is my #1. i also never cared for dobby (am i the only one lol)
i haven’t read the cursed child.. what happened with ron and hermione?! i love book ginny. sigh.
Maggie Smith is such a badass. i think i’d cry if i met her. not just because of HP but everything she’s ever done. she’s amazing.

BLEH. Our buyers backed out, so we’re back to square one. (Apparently I need to hold back on sharing the house stuff until things actually happen. Ha.) But I’m trying to stay positive so I’m sure it’ll all work out…
I’m scared of horses and dinosaurs so…. hahaha!
Your patronus would definitely be a cat!
I liked Dobby, but I didn’t love love love him. Also, I bet he was happy to die for Harry Potter. He’d probably be pissed if we resurrected him. Lol
The Cursed Child just makes everyone so common. Regular martial fights and Ron ribbing Hermione and her being super serious and Ginny having little to no backbone. All the characters were just annoying…
Yes to Maggie Smith. She’s a freaking saint.

I am the last person to ever have not watched/read HP….but I finally watched all the movies with Devin last month in a nightly marathon kind of thing! It was pretty impressive, actually, and now I want to read the books since you’ve made so many distinctions between favorites in the books/movies!!

There are MANY distinction between the books and movies. And while the movies are amazing, the books are life changing. You should DEFINITELY read them someday!!

  9. Oh Harry Potter… weirdly, GoF was my favourite book, or maybe PoA, but that’s more of a lifelong favourite. OtP, I hate with a passion and the rest are good at best haha. There’s no love lost between me and HP haha!

I haven’t seen the movies in an age though and I’m off to HP World in London with a friend in October so I think I should get myself together and watch them.

So jealous of your trip to HP World in London!! That’d be amazing. I’ve been to the theme park in Florida, but never across the ocean to the London one!!

I think that things start to pick up and connect in PoA. I mean, JK ties everything together eventually, but PoA is when it starts to get a little darker.

    I’m seriously due for a re-read.

So so exciting about the house! Are you looking for something bigger, or a different area?

It’s the most appealing job for me in that world, lol. I’m due for a reread, too. I’ve kind of started.

Our buyers backed out so we’re still on the market. (sigh) But we’re looking for something a little less in town. We have an offer in on a house in a neighborhood outside of downtown. Our offer is complicated, though, and requires our house to sell pretty quick!

Ooo so true, Wormtail is creepy and awful, he didn’t even cross my mind! I love how no one’s answer is ever Voldemort. Just like no one’s favorite is ever Harry.
