Let’s get into this life update, shall we?

Thinking about 100% of the time… selling the house. When the buyers (who’d put in an offer 2 days after our house was listed and had us cancel our first Open House) backed out of the contract K and I felt pretty defeated. We’re not discouraged, just let down. I promise we’re trying to bounce back and stay positive.

Working on… Chelsea and Ryan‘s 31 Days of Kindness! It’s not too late to join in!

Reading… four different stories at the moments… I’m making my way through Erin’s Challenge, slowly but surely.

Listening to… a lot of country music. Especially Kenny Chesney. He’s my feel-good artist of the summer. We saw Incubus & Jimmy Eat World last week so I’ve been mixing a little alternative rock in, too.

Watching… nothing really. I’m getting my film list ready for Jenn’s challenge and I just shared the Fall shows I’m looking forward to.

Loving… the cool evening temperatures around these parts. I sleep with the windows open when it dips below 70* and I love it!

Hating… loud neighbors, contrary house hunters, the p.o.s. potus, half-ass sunscreen, drama, stress, ticks, keeping the house in pristine condition for last minute showings.

Experiencing… summer concerts, races at Mid-Ohio raceway, outdoor parties and bar-hopping.

Planning… so many things. Bridal showers & Bachelorette parties, a potential lake-day, business trips for this fall & winter, a Halloween party (WOO!), Christmas gifts, etc.

Wanting… kayaks for the husband and I.

Craving… a fall getaway. I’m thinking maybe a girls’ trip, but I haven’t reached out to anyone yet…

Eating… cherries! I freaking love cherries.

Drinking… sweet wine or amaretto & rootbeer because my aunt-in-law has me hooked.

Looking forward to… being in a new house with some warm sunlit rooms and quiet neighbors 😉

Incubus!! I was supposed to see them years ago but the concert was cancelled due to illness. They hardly ever come to Europe so I still haven’t managed to actually see them.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 11:43 am

When I was younger I was a fan of Incubus, but last week I really enjoyed Jimmy Eat World. They are SO dang talented! (Of course Incubus is, too.)

A Fall getaway sounds amazing!! Our anniversary is coming up this month and I don’t know when we will be able to go, but I want to take an anniversary trip with Nick sometime this year!

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 11:56 am

Oooh, you guys definitely need to take a trip together!
I’m thinking a fall cabin w/ the girls & some hiking and kayaking maybe!

  3. Lindsay August 3, 2017 / 7:08 am

Ugh, I hate that they backed out! That’s crazy. I’m talking about the kindness challenge on my post, too. So many good ideas! Definitely get the kayaks, girl!! They’re so much fun.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 11:57 am

I hate it, too. It definitely ruined my day when I found out. Nothing to do but bounce back, though, I guess!
I was pricing them out yesterday at Dick’s! I’m so excited to get K in the store to pick two out!

  4. kathy @ more coffee, less talky August 3, 2017 / 8:40 am

ugh the loud neighbours are the worst. I had to call the city by-law enforcement twice this year because they were being such rude aholes and playing basketball at 12am! WTF.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 11:58 am

We call the cops two or three times a month on this dude 9esp. in the summer). And K has even tried talking to him and he’s like, “You can’t hear my music in your house.” Um. Sir. You literally shake the dishes. Such a turddd.

I’m excited to see your list for Jenn’s challenge! I just don’t have time this go around but I love seeing other people’s choices.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:00 pm

I am struggling HARD with the categories. Hopefully I have it all sorted out by Thursday when the post is scheduled. Ha!

  6. Nadine August 3, 2017 / 9:55 am

Amaretto and root beer???? I am intrigued! I love amaretto sours. I my favorite wine is sweet wines too. There is this local blush that I am obsessed with. Stay positive, another buyer will come along. The housing market is a crazy ride. Holla to all the cherries right now!!! I have been buying a bag every week since the price dropped.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:33 pm

Amaretto & Dr. Pepper is also a delicious mix 😉 Sweet wines are just so delicious after a long day!
Ughhhh. My fingers are cramping up because they’re crossed so hard. Hahaha.

  7. Rebecca Jo August 3, 2017 / 10:52 am

    Kayaks? How fun!
I think I have ate more cherries this summer than my whole life.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:35 pm

This is the last summer/fall of cherries and kayaks 🙂 Haha!

I have 2 vacation days that aren’t allocated anywhere yet for the year, so I’m hoping to do something fun with them. Thinking I may save one for a long day hike during fall since my husband and I often have different schedules, I could take off a random weekday and spend with him – we have a 12 mile hike we’ve been wanting to cross our bucket list FOREVER, and it’s the perfect FALL hike!

But no idea what to do with the other day.

Clicked over from What’s New With You. 🙂

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:45 pm

Oooh yes! Go do something fun! My husband is NOT a hiker but I’m trying to warm him up to the outdoor life with some kayaking. Hahaha. He enjoyed canoeing so fingers crossed!!

I LOVE cherries, especially Ranier cherries. So, so good! Again, so sorry that your house buyer backed out but I know you’ll get another great offer! Loud neighbors are the worst. Years ago I had one who would play music so loudly late at night. GRRRRR …. I am always impressed when people read multiple books at the same time. I can’t do that, unless one is non-fiction. Otherwise I get confused. 😀

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:47 pm

I was carrying three books around the house with me last night and alternating between them. They’re all super different, though, so it doesn’t mess me up 😉
Nothing makes me more angry than when I get home, settling into the backyard to read, and the neighbor starts blasting his music. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

  10. SMD August 3, 2017 / 11:28 am

House buying and selling is so freaking EMOTIONAL. It’s hard to not take everything personally. Hang in there guys!

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:47 pm

It is SO hard not to take things personally. UGH. Thank you 🙂

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:48 pm

Every year I tell the husband we can stick to one spring or summer trip for the year… and then every year I plan an additional fall trip. Hahahaha!

  11. StephTheBookworm August 3, 2017 / 2:18 pm

I’ve been thinking about Halloween since LAST Halloween. Your parties always look so fun!

So sorry about the house disappointment. Ugh! Hope it sells quickly for you.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:52 pm

I am PRAYING that we’re in a new house by Halloween! Like… I’ve had this year’s theme in my head for two years. Haha!

  12. Ciara August 3, 2017 / 2:46 pm

How was Incubus & Jimmy Eat World?! They have always been on my bucket list – but I didn’t make it to the concert.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:53 pm

They were good! It blows my mind how old they/I am now… Jimmy Eat World was incredible- they have SO much talent!

  13. shelldbell August 3, 2017 / 2:47 pm

I’m sorry about the buyers! That stinks. I hope you get your house with quiet neighbors soon 🙂

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 12:54 pm

Oh man… Me, too. We’ve had some great read-outside days and the music next door is SERIOUSLY impeding that. UGH.

  14. Olya @ The Siberian American August 3, 2017 / 4:41 pm

I am so obsessed with cherries too! I basically eat them every day right now. Haha. Below 70 temps basically sound like a dream right now. I hope you get a fall getaway! Fall is my favorite time for vacations. 🙂

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 1:00 pm

What is up with the cherry trend this summer? Dunno. But I’m not mad about it 🙂
Fall is the best time to hit the road. It’s a beautiful journey AND destination, no matter where you go!

  15. Kelly @ Noodle to the Rescue August 3, 2017 / 6:10 pm

Buying / Selling a house is soooo all-consuming! I felt the same way last fall when we moved. It was all I could think about and made me so stressed. Keeping the house clean all the time is the worst! We had our first offer fall through but ended up with a better one so I’m hoping the same happens for you, and soon!

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 1:04 pm

Oooh- I’m going to channel your experience. Haha. It’s seriously so consuming, though. It takes up my time, brain, energy, etc. Lol. Please oh please let there be a pay off in the end! Ha!

  16. chelsea @ the new wifestyle August 3, 2017 / 7:56 pm

yay! so glad you are in on the 30 days of kindness! thanks for the shoutout, we desperately need more good and kind things going on in the world (especially b/c of your ‘hating list’ it’s very close to mine too).

uuugh i forgot you canceled the open house because they put an offer on! damn them! but better things to come. i’ve never had to sell house, only buy (in an INSANE market) so i can only imagine the other end. hang tough!

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 1:16 pm

Currently I am trying to soak in (and give back) all the kindness, happiness, and peacefulness that I can. Hahahaha. Pleaseeee let fall be a little less busy (and in a new house)!

  17. Julie Hood August 4, 2017 / 8:56 am

So much I could respond to because it really resonated with me, but your hating list is by far the funniest/most comprehensive. From government to ticks…I love it hahaha

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 1:22 pm

Hahahaha. It’s quite the list, though I try not to be hateful *too* often. Let’s be real though, ticks are the worst. Hahahaha.

  18. chelseajacobs August 4, 2017 / 9:54 am

Sorry about the buyers backing out-that is so stressful! And girl, give me allllll the cherries right now. SO GOOD.

    • Louise August 4, 2017 / 1:23 pm

Ughhh- all we need is one person who really wants it 🙂 Haha. So fingers crossed! In the meantime, I’ll be sitting here eating cherries. Lol.

  19. kristen August 4, 2017 / 4:47 pm

OH NO. I am so mad for you. what awful people. we had our house still listed until the sale went through. i am so so sorry. i hope this all gets sorted soon. it’s hard to stay positive when things like this happen, don’t worry about it, just wallow in your misery, things will happen anyway 😉 i’ll stay positive for you! i was negative during my entire process haha.

    • Louise August 8, 2017 / 4:29 pm

Hahahaha! I’m just so tired of having the house in perfect condition… especially with two dogs. I’m 100% sure you know my pain 😦 Ughhhh!

  20. Laura August 4, 2017 / 9:35 pm

Kenny Chesney is the best! That is such a bummer that the buyers backed out, especially after being so interested. 😦

    • Louise August 8, 2017 / 4:30 pm

Now that I’ve seen him once I’m ready to go to another concert of his!
