It seems that the majority of us are ready for a seasonal shift…
I am anti-wish the days away, but I’m so pro-fall someone should give me a crown and call me Queen of October. Seriously, though…
Today I bring you a list of late summer things that remind me fall is coming. (I feel like a GoT reference could be made, but I don’t watch it so I’m going to let that opportunity slide.)
Humidity-Free Breezes
You know what I mean. It’s that cool, fresh breeze that interrupts an 82 degree afternoon. We feel it, we suddenly crave more, and we obsessively check our weather apps to see if the windows can be cracked that night.
That Bonfire Smell
My husband says bonfires smell like ham. I don’t agree since I dislike ham but love the smell of burning logs.
Movies on Television (that are just a tiny bit premature)
My heart actually leaves my chest when I see films like Beetlejuice on TV. #MyFav
The Leaves
Most of ours are still green but if you look toward the top of the trees you have a few rebel leaves that are starting to protest in red and orange. Be still my heart.
The Produce Aisle
The squashes and pumpkins and other gourds are coming out to play. Is it too soon to carve a pumpkin? Asking for a friend.
I have zero shame in my fall obsession. I’m glad summer is packing her bags. Please Lord, give us a cool, breezy, uneventful fall.
Got any fall plans this year? Hopefully we’re moving houses, going on a small trip, and celebrating my b-day. (We’re definitely doing the latter π ha.)
Audrey I am going to live my fall vicariously through you! I definitely am anti-wish the days away, but on September 1 I am busting out the fall decor, even though it will still be 85 degrees in Hawaii! I already bought a pumpkin candle so that will help it feel like fall! I cannot complain because I love Hawaii, but I do miss fall. Growing up, every year my dad would tell us about why Fall is his favorite season and we would do all of the fall things, carving pumpkins and raking leaves and going out to the farms to get pumpkins and apples…. so it will always have a soft spot for me.

Oh my gosh, I love that your dad would share his love for fall with your family β€ That's adorable. I hope I pass down my love for the season to our kids someday!
Since we're in the midst of selling the house/moving I don't get to go all out for fall in September π¦ Maybe I'll have to live vicariously through you! Haha!

Yessss!!! I just drafted my own fall post yesterday because great minds think alike. And great minds love the fall. The ham thing had me laughing. I have never once associated ham with a bonfire. Hahaha!! I’m sooo ready for fall. Bye bye summer… you can leave!

I’m so excited to start reading all the fall posts that will inevitably start making their way around the internet π He has ALWAYS associated the two with each other and it’s become an inside joke of sorts. Lol.

I do love summer but I know I would feel differently if I lived somewhere with high heat and humidity (and I did feel differently when I lived in FL)! BUT I am still looking forward to fall as well. I love all the traditions that we do with the kids and the autumn leaves are so beautiful.

I really do love that Ohio gets all of the seasons, but sometimes I wish I lived in a more mild place. I’d LOVE to cycle through the season in a mountain state! I’ve only been to CO in the summer but I think I’d die of happiness to experience a snowy winter out there!

I’m most definitely ready for Fall too. I love the smell of a good bonfire too, although I don’t think they smell like ham either. And I like ham! But I’m ready to shut off my air conditioning, enjoy cool nights, snuggling under a blanket (this won’t technically happen until winter for me), and eat hearty soups and stews and I love it when the leaves changes color. It’s one thing I miss most about Minnesota, although I did not like what came after! And a big yes to Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

Hahahaha- K is such a weirdo with his weird nose.
I sleep beside our bedroom window so when the air is cool enough I get to snuggle under the comforter and enjoy the mix of warmth and cold. I loooooove it!

Yes to fall!!!!! I am so ready for this heat and humidity to chill out. LITERALLY. Fall is my favorite time of year!!! We have football, the TV shows come back, there is that crips fall scent in the mornings that warms my heart, SB gets all the fun seasonal drinks and the holiday season will be nearer.

I actually love fall at the shore, so nice to be by the ocean as the season changes. Plus it’s like a ghost town a lot of the time and that’s amazing.

I’ve been to the coast a few times in fall winter and I LOVE how empty the beach is π We went for Thanksgiving once and it was like we had the whole town to ourselves! Same with a January trip!

I already asked John how early is too early to put up Halloween decor. He said I can put it up inside on September 1. He’s going to regret that.

HAHAHAHA. That conversation sounds familiar. K HATES all my Halloween stuff. He’s lucky because we’ll be in the middle of moving so it’s going to be a pretty subtle year for us. (Of course I’m super upset by this, lol.)

Hahaha. When we listed our house I packed up all our fall and winter clothes (positive thinking…) so I need this house stuff to move along a little quicker so I can break it all out again in a new closet. Ha! Fortunately we should be in a new place the first week of October!

I LOVE Fall, but we don’t have much of a fall, or winter for that matter, in Florida. It’ll probably get cooler in late November here. We do have plans to go a bit more northern this year and hopefully I will get to see a glimpse of the season!

My favorite thing in fall is to travel along/through the Appalachian Mountains and see the colors. I could never live in the southern part of the country- I just don’t do hot weather. Haha! I hope you get some “fall” in your life this season!

YES. Since we’re moving at the beginning of October (God willing) I kind of want to leave a small straw bay and mums and pumpkin on the porch for the new buyers, lol.

I think the break from humidity and the changing scenery is SO refreshing after months of heat and green and moisture in the air. Fall just *feels* good!
