Don’t worry, nothing too deep here πŸ˜‰

Apparently I’m a hypocrite. I word vomited about having a mental diet and avoiding dramatic/violent/etc. television… then I pushed The Tudors on people. It’s about Henry VIII who had 6 wives (of which he killed 2, possibly 3), and he completely flip-flopped on religion a million times (and killed heretics with each change), and it was on Showtime. Obviously it’s not G rated. Oh well. We like what we like, right?

A teeny tiny part of me is sad to see summer go. I felt like we had a pretty mild one in Ohio. Plenty of humidity, but the temperatures were fairly enjoyable. This doesn’t change my opinion on fall’s arrival, though.

I’ve mentioned our house selling woes here so I’ll confess that we’re seeing progress right now. I know we should/could be celebrating, but we got burned so hard last time so I’m waiting to pop the bubbly until we sign the closing papers. Ha.

I could drink the new Starbucks Horchata Almondmilk Frappuccino all day, every day. I rarely get their blended drinks but holy cow, Batman. Cinnamon and caramel and pure deliciousness.

I go through waves of reading. I’ll finish 3 books within days (or hours) of each other, then start three more, then fall into a lull for a while. I’m in a lull right now but also in the middle of HP & the SS and The Moon-Spinners (and Coraline, which is less than 200 pages & I’ve been “reading” it for 3 months). I’m such a book loser. Hahaha.

I’ve been a crying mess lately over Texas. Every time I see someone carrying humans out of danger or boats filled with stray dogs I just 100% lose it. Sometimes humans are amazing. We do a lot of business in Texas and it just makes me so sad that we can’t be there physically to help (or take in a million dogs).

Sidenote: I’m a big believe in backing companies/people who do good. Pay attention to who does what in the wake of this tragedy and go forward spending your time, money, attention on those things. From what I’ve seen online, Anheuser-Busch canned and sent water for Texas victims, Chip and Joanna Gaines are selling shirts through the end of Sept. with 100% of their proceeds going to victims, and Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation took 72 displace dogs out of harms way. Sometimes humans are very, very good.

I believe that 2000s pop punk/alternative/rock is the best era of music. How’s that for a confession? My inner (former) emo kid enjoys listening to playlists on Spotify from my youth. And then I get the urge to put another layer of eyeliner on πŸ˜‰

Every time we ship a product to a city where a blogger lives, I immediately want to reach out and tell them. Ha. But I know they wouldn’t actually care. Hahaha.

Alright. I’m done πŸ™‚ Share a confession with me!

Have a happy weekend! We’re almost there!

  1. The Tudors sounds interesting, might need to check that out! I haven’t tried Starbucks Horchata Almondmilk Frappuccino but it sounds amazing!! Do they make it in a latte/non frap drink? And umm 2000s pop punk/alternative/rock is what you find my listening to 95% of the time. I rarely listen to newer stuff. I like what I like!

    1. The Tudors is just really well done. I’ve tried to watch shows like “Reign” and stuff but they annoy me. The Tudors is fairly historically accurate (but obviously dramatized, too).
I got the Horchata Almondmilk in latte form last Friday and the barista told me it’s essentially their cinnamon almond milk latte. Honestly, I prefer the Cinnamon Dolce over it. It wasn’t sweet enough for me and it definitely wasn’t as good as the Frappuccino.

  2. We do like what we like. πŸ˜€ I do that too, though, where I say I’m not going to watch or read something violent and then I do! I also go through reading lulls. Sometimes I devour everything in sight and other times I will go weeks without even picking up a book. And speaking of books, yesterday I picked up Murder at Brightwell! Hopefully, I’ll be able to start it tonight! My fingers are crossed everything goes well with selling your home, quickly and easily. I’m also with you 100% with giving business to those who race to help those in need.

  3. You totally put the Tudors on my must watch list.
OHHHH _ you just gave me a new drink to try on my next Starbucks trip! That sounds amazing!!!
Isnt that so funny how that works when you see a city, or town, or even a product, that makes you think of a blogger – I love that.

    1. Yeah, girl! Henry Cavill for daysss ❀
Definitely get it in Frap form. The latte is nothing to write home about.
It's amazing how often stuff makes me think of other bloggers! Ha!

    1. That’s so funny… We shipped something to Durango High School last week and THAT’S what made me start thinking about all the places we’ve sent stuff to that bloggers live! Haha!

  4. OH! I’m excited that you might be having progress on your house! Fingers crossed.
I want to cry every time I see photos of the people and especially the dogs in Texas. The dogs are so helpless and it breaks my heart. One of our local rescues (where we’re adopting our new dog from) is bringing some animals in from there. Thanks for pointing out the places and businesses who are supporting the relief efforts.
If you ever ship to Rochester, give me a shout! HA!

    1. I can’t remember if we’ve ever shipped to Rochester or not… I feel like we have. Haha!
I want to fly to Texas, rent a pontoon, and go rescue all the dogs. I hate seeing pictures and feeling helpless! I’m glad your local shelter is helping out!!

  5. I love Confessions posts…I’m sad to see Summer go too, but heck if Fall isn’t my favorite πŸ™‚ Yay for house progress, and you’re so right about companies and businesses helping Texas- it’s great to see people with power and ability do so much. Happy weekend!

    1. I told my husband & family that I didn’t think this summer was too bad. They all looked at me like I had two heads. Maybe I just fully utilized the a/c this year… Oh well- time to turn it off and open up some windows!

  6. I am the same way with reading! I read two books in like three days last week. Now, I have to read a book for my book club, and I have barely gotten past the first page in a week. And book club is soon! Also, I hate reading more than one book at a time, but I do it a lot!

    1. I can’t help but read multiple books at once. I like switching it up- like watching a drama and comedy. I need the different forms of entertainment. Of course, then I end up choosing one over the other and it takes me forever to finish a book. Lol

    1. It’s not crazy violent. Maybe a stabbing or beheading every two or three episodes. And you know when they’re coming so you can look away like I do, lol. If you’re a fan of that era I think you’d love the show!

  7. I’m sad to see summer go, because I adore blue skies and green grass, but I love the temperature of autumn, so I’m not that sorry.

My Starbucks “confession” is: I only really buy coffee from there. I don’t generally like coffee, so I don’t see the point of searching out fancy places, when I can just get a tried and tested one from Starbucks. Plus they do non-dairy milk. I like to stick to what I know.

Our inner emo children would get along just fine! I am going through a bit of a Papa Roach kick at the moment and thoroughly enjoying their new album, it makes my emo heart bleed with sadness haha!

    1. That’s funny- I actually really dislike Starbucks coffee. Haha. I love their espresso drinks and their teas, but their coffee gives me heartburn. Haha! I’m glad it works for you, though!

I love when I listen to an artist’s new stuff and then fall into the wormhole of their old stuff, too πŸ˜€ Happens all the time with Foo Fighters and Panic! at the Disco. Haha

  8. heheh you do you! It’s ok to find some things heavier than others. I can’t handle heavy things but we’re watching The 100 right now, which is super brutal dystopian. Albiet horribly cheesy in season 1. Still it doesn’t stress me out like certain other things do. hahah I’ve been feeling the cooler weather and have 100% latched on to fall. I know the weather won’t last. It will be hot then cool, hot then cool for months… but I’m savoring it! πŸ™‚ I definitely go through phases with my hobbies, reading like that happens to me all the time. I’m the same with PL. πŸ™‚ It’s ok, I just try to go where I feel like it and circle back to things as I can. πŸ™‚ XO – Alexandra

    Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things

    1. Sometimes a TV starts out as a destressing and then become stressful so I chose to abandon it. It happens, haha. Oh well.
I got through waves with my scrapbooking, too. Right now I’d REALLY like to do it but of course it’s all packed away. Haha. I’ve been working on reading and watching movies for the film challenge at the moment.
I assume Ohio will get hot again, but there’s no sign of it yet… Usually September is in the 80s here but it’s been pretty consistent 60s and 70s… I’m not mad about it πŸ˜‰
