Goodbye & Farewell 2017

It’s a week of recaps, my friends. First and foremost, this is my last post of 2017!

I hope you have a wonderful, fun, safe, exciting (or relaxing) end of the year!!

Happy New Year!

(You can either read on for my year-end recap or peace out from hereย ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

My goals for 2017 were as follows:

Be Healthy. FAIL. Same weight and habits and vices going strong. *face palm*

Feel Less Guilty About Downtime. While I still enjoy multitasking, I definitely don’t feel guilty about indulging in some downtime.

Read more. I read 25 books in 2016. I read 33 this year.

Become a Morning Person. No… this didn’t happen. I’ve only recently started rolling out of bed a little earlier and a little less rushed…

Get on Schedule. Eh. Meal planning happened and all the holidays fell into place. This is a work in progress, but I’ll take it. *shrug*

In my opinion, 2017 was a challenging and transitional year…

The political climate this year was tense and frustrating and volatile. I don’t see that ceasing in 2018, but I’m going into the new year hopeful and hungry for equality and change and progress.

At the start of 2017 I join K at PI. We sold our first home together over the summer and moved into a new one in October. We went to some weddings, watched a lot of NASCAR, and took a family vacation to the beach. K brought home a new vehicular baby and we checked some concerts off our bucket list. I quit biting my nails, I blogged consistently, and we hit a new milestone with the business. K turned 30, Enzo turned 4 (!), and Lylee turned 6 (!!). One of our favorite babies was born this year & lots of friends announced pregnancies, engagements, and new significant others. For us, it was a stressful year full of learning and change, but I wouldn’t take any of it back.

Baby Tobin | New Vette | February Brunch Date | San Antonio | K’s 30th Bday | Orchestra for Mom’s Bday | Family Pic | 4th Anniversary | Landscaping
Buckeye Country Superfest | Lylee turns 6 | Mid-Ohio Race | 4th of July on the USS NC | Bridal Brunch | Family Vacation at Sunset Beach, NC | Bridal Shower | Enzo turns 4 | Bridal Party
New house | Cedar Point with Honda | In-laws New Kitty | Rehearsal Dinner Pic | My Bday | Goofy Wedding Pic | Not-So-Baby Tobin | Halloween | The Babes

I remember coming out of 2016 feeling terrible. The end of 2017 doesn’t feel so bad.
Personally, I’m grateful for the year I had. I’m hoping 2018 proves to be an even better one.

(Recaps from 2016 and 2015. And 2014 for good measure, lol.)

How was your 2017?

  1. What a year! Cheers to 2018 being hale & hearty!!
(And, I was reading an article the other that said night owls shouldn’t try to become early morning risers – it can mess with your body!)

Hmmm. I should find that article for my husband ๐Ÿ˜‰ He HATES the fact that I struggle so much in the mornings. Unfortunately, I’m losing my night owl productivity, too, because I’ve been trying to go to bed earlier to wake up easier! Maybe I’ll just abandon that ship all together! Hehe!

  4. I love the year-in-review posts! Need to put together my own. Even when it’s been a tough year (which naturally it would given home/job changes and -UGH- the political situation it’s nice to look back on the highlights (of which there are also many)!
Cheers to 2018! Personally I like years that are even numbers better so it already has that going for it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Man… this year was a total roller coaster, but the kind that’s super fast. K and I couldn’t BELIEVE how fast this year flew. I know it helped that I was working a job that I truly enjoy, but I have GOT to find a way to slow the weeks down and savor the moments!
Hopefully 2018 is a great one! I like your theory about the even number years!

I need to find a form of exercise that I am willing to stick with. My metabolism is good and I haven’t gained weight in years, but I know my time is short and I’m running out of golden years as far as weight is concerned. Lol
Hopefully we both find a way to get on track and stay on track in 2018!

Totally agree with your assessment of the political climate. I will never ever be a morning person. I’ve learned to accept it. LOL. What is it about feeling guilty about downtime? I have the same issue.

I’m just SO much more productive at night, but that doesn’t work well with an 8 am job. Lol
I used to feel TERRIBLE about taking time for myself. I’d want to take a bath or read a book but I knew there was laundry to be done or I should be vacuuming or cleaning the bathroom. (I think it came from my college guilt- no reading for pleasure when I knew I needed to be reading for school.) Anyway, this year I decided to say the hell with it. When I want to read or take a bath (or both), I do it. Ha.

Mine was meh. On paper it looks good but behind the scenes are things I can’t blog about that made me want 2017 to just go away. I was hoping for a happy ending at least but nope!

Oof, that can be rough ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Especially when you can’t write about it. (I assume most of us blog because it’s therapeutic.) I hope your 2018 is a much happier, healthier, more positive year!

      1. Yes, I definitely use my blog as a form of therapy but now some family members read it I have to be careful about what I write. There are things I don’t want them learning about that way!

So many great milestones for you and K this year! 2017 was a dumpster politically but I am pleased by the awakening that’s happening. People who were never vocal politically or even concerned about politics are speaking up. People are becoming active. I feel like 2018 is the year we take back our country and make some real, positive change. We given a lot of lip service over the years to racism, misogyny and such but now it’s time to say Bye Felicia to that sh&t. Here’s to a fabulous 2018! I can’t wait to see what you accomplish!
