First and Foremost

Hi! I missed y’all 🙂 Coming back strong with a fun little “firsts” tag that I borrowed from Stephanie! I was driving my parents nuts with all these, “What was my first xyz…?” questions.

What was your first word? My mom thinks it was “Nan.” My dad and his siblings called their grandma (my great-grandma) Nan. According to the story I was told, I tried to call my dad’s mom Nan. Since that was bound to get confusing, I was forced to figure out a different name. Some how the term “Numna” (num-nuh) came about. And that’s what everyone has called my grandma since I could talk. Yay for being grandkid #1!
Do you still talk to your first love?  Not really. We’re Facebook friends and I see him around maybe once a year, but I don’t go out of my way to talk to him.

What was your first alcoholic drink?  Wine coolers. I’d tasted my parents’ beer/wine before, but my first intentional just-for-me drink was a wine cooler.

What was your first job?  My first real collect-a-paycheck job was at Quiznos. And after a month I got fired. Lol

First pet?  Bruno, who was a very good boy.

What was your first car? My darling yellow Volkswagen Beetle. His name was Lenny and I totaled him four years and three days after I got him.

Who was the first person to text you today?  Aubrey! Saying how excited she was for Kayla and I to come hangout in Cleveland with her. (I answered this question last Thurs.)

Who was the first person you thought of this morning? Enzo, because he kicked me in the throat at 2 am.

Who was your first grade teacher?  Mrs. Turner.

Where did you go on your first airplane ride?  My dad’s pretty sure my first plane ride was to Boston. My aunt & uncle lived there at the time and they took me there to meet them.

Who was your first best friend and do you still talk?  I had two best friends growing up, but we were friends because our moms were friends. The first bff I picked for myself was a girl named Lindsey. We still talk. We went to a country superfest last year together.
Lindsey is on the right.

Where was your first sleep over?  Ever? Probably my grandparents’ house. I also remember staying with my aunt and uncle (not the ones in Boston) when I was a kid. They were in their twenties and we’d play Nintendo and Sega way past my bedtime.

What was the first concert you ever went to? A Fallout Boy, Hawthorne Heights, From First to Last, and All American Rejects concert. I was a freshman in high school.

What was your first broken bone?  I snapped my tibia and fibula when I was 7. That hurt a bit.

What was your first piercing?  I’ve never had anything pierced.

What was the first foreign country you’ve gone to?  Switzerland when I was six.

What was the first movie you remember seeing?  I think my parents took me to see The Little Mermaid in theaters, but I looked it up and it came out in ’89… so I don’t know. Air Bud was the first movie I ever cried during.

When was your first detention?  Six grade, I think. I was a good student, but I forgot to do my homework sometimes. I remember getting at least two detentions in middle school for incomplete work. In high school I got caught skipping class and got in-school suspension for two days. Lol. I was a good student, just defiant.

Who was your first roommate?  Kristene. We went to hs together (and elementary & middle school) so when we picked the same college we decided to room together our freshman year.

Kristene is in black. I’m the moron with ORANGE hair. Woof.

What was the first sport you were involved in?  Frickin’ T-ball. Then I went on to do baseball/softball for 8 more years. Woof.

What is the first thing you do when you get home?  Let the pups out, comb through the mail, and then sit on the ground with Ly and E to play with them and snuggle them.

When was your first kiss?  My freshman year of high school, toward the end of the year. It was actually a pretty good one (although K is my favorite person to kiss 😉 lol).

I love that pig picture so much, lol. I think someone in my family made me that costume.

Ok, now you answer some of these! What was your first plane ride or concert? Does anyone get anything other than their ears pierced first?! (Besides nothing at all, lol.)

  1. I’m going to steal this!

You make the cutest piggy 🙂

Yeah… piercings. I am sure there are people who just skip the ears entirely and go straight to belly button but I don’t know any!

You’re probably right. I’ve never been a fan of piercings. Good for you, not for me. Lol!
And thanks for the nomination!! I’ll post my answers and questions in the next few weeks!! 😀

I left this out of my answer, but I was quite underage when I drank those. Ha. I actually split my first wine cooler with friends since we were sneaking around. Ha.

  4. So my first car was a yellow bug too! That’s too funny and such a coincidence! I love that you mentioned that you got to pick your grandparents names because you were the first grandchild and I have a feeling that the names my parents picked might end up changing once the girls know how to talk!

I loved my beetle!! I’d probably still have him if I hadn’t wrecked it. Sigh.
It’s so funny how kids come up with names. My cousins call my mom Aunt La-la because she tried to teach them to say “Aunt Lisa” by saying La-la-lisa. Haha. And they call my dad Uncle Fuzzy (or Fuzz for short) because his hair has always been so short his head is just fuzzy. Hahahaha!

  7. You were an adorable little piggy and I did not recognize you with the orange hair. 😀 My first alcoholic drink was a wine cooler too – a popular choice for most girls! This is fun, I may have to borrow this from you. 😀

Fun questions! My first concert was Nsync, but I love your first concert! How fun. I’ve never driven a car, so I can’t answer that one. I’ve also never had alcohol. I HAVE had my ears pierced but they got so infected, we had to let them close so nothing pierced for me! lol 🙂

I begggged to go to a Backstreet Boys or Spice Girls concert as a kid but my parents never gave in.
I didn’t like the idea of a needle in my ear so I turned down my mom’s offer to get my ears pierced when I was 10.

My first concert was David Hasselhoff at the NJ State Fair! It wasn’t intentional, he just happened to be performing when I was there, but he gave me an autographed CD. The first movie I cried during was The Nutty Professor. I felt really bad for him when he bent over in the comedy club and the comedian started picking on him while he was on his date. Loved these questions and learning more about your firsts!

Awwww- I think it’s so sweet why you cried during The Nutty Professor!! So much empathy!
I cried when the little boy tried to send the dog away. The dog just didn’t understand and the boy yelled and…. Oh man. I’m gonna cry again. Lol

  10. This is fun! Let’s see, my first plane ride was at age 10 to Lawrence KS. We almost moved there – So weird to imagine how different life would be if we had! My first movie was The Black Cauldron and I had to leave because was too scared. I only have my ears pierced – When I was 13 my dad finally let me after he made me sign an agreement that I wouldn’t wear dangly earrings until I was 18 and would never get any other holes pierced anywhere EVER, Haha.

I’ve never seen The Black Cauldron but I’ve heard that it’s terrifying!!
My mom took me to Limited Too to get my ears pierced for my 10th b-day. I was in the chair and the girl had the gun to my ear lobe but I panicked and cried and told her no. Lol
My mom bought me magnetic earrings instead and we spoofed my dad and had a good laugh about it 🙂 Haha. I’ve never regretted that decision. Ha.

They told me I was too slow. Keep in mind the dang oven takes like TWO WHOLE MINUTES to melt the cheese.

I think the real reason is because the girl they hired me to replace never quit. I wrote them a long, angry note after I left but I’d been so quiet the whole time I worked there that the boss didn’t believe I actually wrote it. A coworker told me that. Man, I was mad. Ha.

And then, obviously my first real love is my now husband so, obviously I still talk to him. haha

I had a few puppy loves before the one I first thought of/mentioned up there. It was two or three puppy loves, the guy I consider my first love, and then K 🙂 I pretty much jumped ship on the “first love” guy for Kyle. Lol. When ya know, ya know.
