Hello, beautifuls. I’m linking up with Kristen today for our coffee date. To spice things up I’m giving it a love/hate theme, although hate might be a strong word.
Before I begin, Happy Birthday (yesterday) to my Momma!
If we were getting drinks I’d have a cup of very strong coffee- with quite a bit of cream. No sugar, thanks.
First I’d ask if you got any of the storms that swept the Midwest on Tuesday night. If you saw my IG stories then you already know I was up half the night with a quaking dog. I’m very grateful that we didn’t have to hide in the basement from tornadoes or sit in the dark with no power, but I’ll still whine about my lack of sleep and the nonexistent cable and internet. And poor Lylee shaves years off her life when she worries and pants and shakes like that. Sigh. I spent the whole night on the couch with the scaredy-bear. HATE.
I’d ask what you’re watching lately. I’d 100% recommend The Good Place and Superstore. TGP just finished its second season and Superstore is still in its 2nd so you can absolutely binge & catch up. K and I are watching The Office on Netflix. We just finished up season 4. I want to check out Champions and Splitting Up Together, too. LOVE.
If we were drinking coffee I’d ask how you’re sleeping at night. We tried melatonin but it completely screwed with us, especially in the mornings. Right now I’m taking an anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxer at night for my back and I’ve been getting a.m.a.z.i.n.g. sleep… but I know it’s short lived since I can’t be on muscle relaxers forever. Lol. HATE.
As we were refilling and warming our drinks I’d ask if you saw Stephanie’s Clutter List?? After work I’m so unmotivated to do anything but spring cleaning is definitely on my mind right now. LOVE.
A few weeks ago K was gone on business and I took myself shopping. Both Lindsay and Steph have mentioned ON on their blogs and I treated myself to some new dresses and shirts. Everything was on sale and it’s all SO comfy!! I think it’s all on sale still! I got:
Before we finished our drinks I’d ask you if your library offers Hoopla. I just discovered this resource and it’s amazing! I can instantly borrow & download movies and music and ebooks from my library. How I only just discovered this platform, I don’t know. It’s definitely been helpful when it comes to materials for The Roaring Swinging Fabulous Groovy Blog Collab. 😉 LOVE
Before we parted ways I’d ask about your Easter weekend! (If you don’t celebrate Easter then I’d ask what fun things you did over the weekend!) We always have church and lunch with my family plus an egg hunt and kite flying. Then K’s family comes to our house for dinner and we head to his grandparents’ for dessert and another egg hunt. My weekend had lots of cleaning, cooking, and family.
That was a lot of ground to cover! Did I miss anything? Fill me in on what’s new with you before we abandon our mugs and get back to adulting ❤︎

Your coffee is literally the opposite of mine. Give me alllll the milk and alllll the sugar.
I was home alone for Easter weekend so I spent most of it cleaning/sorting. My flat still looks like a disaster area though so I bet Jan doesn’t even notice when he comes home.

I just got an email about my library offering Hoopla too & was wondering what it was all about – guess I need to check it out!!!
We had some CRAZYYYY in those storms tuesday night. I just hate it wiped out the warm weather & we’re back to freezing & frost this morning. Ridiculous.

Hoopla is great because when you rent a movie you can get it right away! I love that!
We woke up to SO MUCH snow yesterday. I’m kind of sad that I can’t start my outdoor garden yet. Sigh…

SO comfy! I do tend to be more aware of what type of underwear I’m wearing with them, though 😀 And the wind can ruffle them up a bit and expose the goods. HA.

Those are some creatively colorful eggs! Every year I see people’s eggs and think, “I miss doing that.” I make a mental note to color eggs that next year and… it doesn’t happen. Maybe next year. 🙂

My grandma still hosts all her grandkids (there are 6 of us) for egg coloring every year. Although I host a dinner for my husband’s family so I’d probably still color a dozen or so regardless 🙂

So try a magnesium supplement in lieu of the muscle relaxers. Most of us are lacking magnesium and it really helps you get a good night of sleep.

Whoa. I have never heard of Hoopla before and need to check that out, sounds fantastic! We don’t get much (or really any) thunder here in SoCal so I’m not sure how Max would respond to a storm. Emeril was fairly unmoved by them when we lived in Minneapolis. If he ever did seem a tad concerned, then I was greatly concerned! LOL! But Max hates being in his carrier and pants hard while in it and after he’s let out. It breaks my heart, since cats typically don’t pant. I love the dresses, especially the yellow! Super cute! I also love that you fly kites on Easter. What a great idea.

Probably 8 or 10 years ago my grandparents started gifting us all kites in our baskets so we’ve just started flying them every year when we get them! 😀

omg i just discovered hoopla also (had to join another library to get it, which i sawesome because i didn’t know i could even join this other library) and it is amazeballs. is The Good Place’s second season on netflix yet? i really enjoyed the first season!

I know… I get SO frsutrated with Ly because she gets super high strung and disobedient, but at the same time I feel terrible because there’s no way for me to convey that she’s OK and safe. Ugh.

I don’t sleep well if I have coffee after lunch. I’ve been “curating” my sleep for a while now so I know what works and what doesn’t.

I typically only have coffee in the mornings, although I occasional have some in the afternoon (or black tea or pop)… I might have to pay more attention to that.

I’ve taken Melatonin on and off a few times, and it’s usually pretty helpful for me! My sleep is pretty terrible all the time and I like taking something to help.
Glad you’re enjoying Hoopla! Several of the libraries in my system have it, but not my particular branch because we focus so much on OverDrive. We are researching Hoopla now though and will likely be getting it soon.

I wish melatonin had worked for us, but it make morning tough and we were both grumpy and snappy with each other.
I was hoping you’d comment on the Hoopla thing!! I hope you guys like it! I assume it costs the libraries a fee to have access to it?

I got swing dresses like that from ON last summer, and they are AMAZING. Good choice! Those storms on Tuesday were INSANE. Our power went out from lightning at one point, and Gracie was so scared she hid under a blanket every time she heard thunder, and James had to drive home through tornado warnings and flooding. That was a wild day/night.

I love The Good Place! I have a few of the swing dresses from ON. They are all too big in the arm hole and it drives me nuts, but I still wear them under a denim jacket. I ordered myself a short sleeve one from there the other day and I hope it fits better since it shouldn’t have the arm hole problem. We shall see! I hate stormy weather and tornado threats. It is our life in the south every spring and its my least favorite time of year. Glad you guys are ok!

Hahahaha- I just feel like TV is KILLING IT with the comedies lately! I watched season after season of The Office when I was in college but it’s been a long time. It’s fun watching it all over again with K 🙂

Sorry for the lack of sleep because of your scared pup!! I can 100% sympathize with all those who lose sleep because someone else (dog, baby, etc.) wakes them up. Haha. And those dresses are SO cute!

I feel so silly complaining about sleep & Lylee but part of the perks of not having kids yet is sleeping through the night!! Hahaha! I want to take advantage of these golden sleep years before they’re gone! ha!

What fun dresses you got! I’m ready for break out mine, but if only the weather would actually warm up! I love that your family does kite flying on Easter; I’ve never heard of anyone doing that for the holiday but what fun!! The dyed eggs look great. 🙂
I’m one of those people that don’t get very good sleep often and it’s the WORST. I do have various medicine that I try and only use here and there so I don’t get to accustomed to it and it stops working.

My grandma got us kites in our baskets 8-ish years ago and we opened them up and flew them right away. Ever since she’s been getting us a kite each year and we go fly them after Easter lunch!
I think the big issue with our sleep is our matress… but that’s an expensive problem to fix so I’m avoiding it. Ha.

K doesn’t like comedies like The Good Place. I laugh out loud sometimes, but most of the time I’m smirking through it. Ha. I also think it gets better after a few episodes. You have to bond with Eleanor before you can love it 😉
