A Wild Thursday Night & Canceled Plans

Hello. It’s me. I’m back from the crypt.

I was so swamped with work last week that I completely forgot to write and/or schedule a post on Thursday. K was home sick Monday and Tuesday so when I failed to post anything on Thursday his mom reached out and asked if I was feeling ok. Turns out she’s psychic because later that night I started throwing up and spiked a fever. UGH.

Over the weekend we were supposed to go to Bristol, TN with my parents, my uncle and my cousin. Since I was still sick Friday night we had to cancel on them. If you’ve been around for a while you might know that the Bristol NASCAR race is my favorite weekend. Devastated and pitiful are good descriptions for my mood this weekend.

So today’s post was supposed to be “Thoughts I Have While Attending a NASCAR Race” (similar to my ob/gyn post) but obviously I have nothing to report. I ended up not leaving my house from 4 pm Thursday until 1 pm on Sunday. I don’t know the last time I hibernated like that. I also don’t know the last time I threw up that much. (K lost 12 lbs. when he was sick. I LOST NOTHING.) But I am feeling much better and just in time for our work-related trip later this week. The dogs were also pretty pleased to be crate-less for +3 days.

Anyway… today’s post is just hi-hello-it’s me kind of thing. I’m really excited about this Thursday’s post, though. So despite my dull update today you should come back for that one, lol.

Until then, I’ll do my best to catch up on the blog posts I missed while I was sick. And stay caught up with everything going on while I’m on the road. (Understandably, my blog reading slacks when I get super busy with work. #sorrynotsorry)

Ok. Enough whining about being sick and canceled weekend plans. Tell me what you did last weekend!

And I’m right there with you with trying to get caught back up on blog reading! I’ve been swamped at work so I’m trying to get caught up!

Gah. I just don’t get how men got that weight weight loss gene. UN. FAIR.
Man, being stuck on the couch or with my head in a trash can was the absolute worst.

I’m sad we missed it but I’m glad we made that call. The races would’ve seriously delayed my recovery and I’d have been a mess for our business trip.
      Thank you!

  4. Glad you are feeling better! I had to laugh about the dogs, because mine get SO confused when I’m home during the day! They start begging for their dinner in the early afternoon. And why oh why do guys lose weight so easily?! If you are going to get awfully sick, the least thing that could happen is losing a few pounds haha.

Kyle was home Monday and Tuesday with the same virus, then I got it Thursday and spent Friday at home. The dogs were definitely living their best lives. Hahahaha.
I was pumped to jump on the scale on Monday. LITERALLY NO CHANGE. Gah.

As soon as I was feeling a little better I opened all the windows and the sliding door, scrubbed the bathrooms, and changed the sheets. I wanted that virus O.U.T.!!

Man… I hated that. And I know my dad was so disappointed that we couldn’t go. He was understanding but he held out hope until the very last minute. I’m hoping to squeeze in another race this year and treat him and my mom to the trip 😉
      Thank you!

I stayed home from Thurs. night to Sun. afternoon. I don’t know the last time I stayed in one place for so long!! It definitely helped, though. I was 100% good to go for the work trip.

  12. Being sick is the worst! I had to go back to Minnesota last week for a funeral and my Dad got a cold. Goes who took it back with her to California? Me? I’m hoping it’s just a short, harmless little cold that goes away in another day or two. And why is it that a man can lose 12 lbs while sick and I’d be more likely to GAIN weight? I’m glad you feel better and hope your work trip goes well this week!

One time K and I started getting up early and working out at a gym. (We only kept it up for a month.) After the first week we decided to weigh ourselves. Kyle had lost 14 pounds. I GAINED SIX.
      Un-freaking-fair. Lol

  16. I’m glad that you are feeling better now! Seriously so not fun to be under the weather, and to miss out on fun travel plans, etc. I feel ya. That was my Jan/Feb. Oy. I have been hanging on by the skin of my teeth posting things and scheduling them. Yikes. Maybe I can regroup today. Or catch up just a little. I think May will be the death of me with how busy we are going to be. XO – Alexandra

Thank you! I just HATE being forced to be idle. I couldn’t really read or do anything. Forced rest doesn’t make me happy. I’m very very glad and thankful to be 100% better. I was down for 2 days, taking it slow for 2 more, then feeling a little icky for 2 additional days. It hung on longer than I expected but I know it was short in comparison to some illnesses.
I hope you get all caught up! I’m falling behind, too! Work is a little nutso so blogging keeps taking a backseat. Urgh!
