For Kristen‘s link-up I’m reverting back to a good ol’ fashioned “currently” post.

Reading… all the books for Erin’s 9.0 Book Challenge! I’m currently working on The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and the Prisoner of Azkaban!

Listening to… You Must Remember This podcast. I know I’ve mentioned it once this week already, but Lindsay got me hooked! I’ve listened to all the Charles Manson’s Hollywood episodes as well as the ones about Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, and Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. I’ve also been listening to the new albums from Dave Matthews and Ben Rector!

Watching… The Bachelorette. My friends and I text-party watch and I look forward to it every week. We’re usually snarky about the guys and supportive of Becca so I don’t feel the least bit bad about my not-so-guilty pleasure. Anyone else watching this season? Let’s discuss πŸ™‚

Pouting about… Lebron James heading west. Sigh. I’m not mad at him and I still hate basketball, but it’s a bummer he’s not ours anymore.

Celebrating… this week’s intermission. America has her faults (many of which are occurring right now) but yesterday was her birthday and everyone almost everyone deserves a celebration. I’m grateful for the day off and I’m grateful to live in a country where we have the freedom to do the right thing, help others, and vote in people who will actually put the needs of humans first.

Eating… lots of grilled stuff and summer foods. Watermelon, corn, steak, hotdogs and burgers, ice cream.

Drinking… wine. My in-laws have been working on opening a wine company for the last year and a half, and they’re finally up and running! Our house may or may not be stocked with the best wine around right now… πŸ˜‰

Working on… getting all the left over garage sale stuff packed up and shipped off to charities. We had a pretty successful sale but dang it was hot outside all weekend!

Playing… softball! I joined a co-ed team that plays every Sunday afternoon. I played for eight years nearly 15 years ago, so this is slightly out of my comfort zone. I really like it, though!

Planning… a fall vacation. I’m not sure what or where yet, but I presented a 2 week out west trip to K and he shot me down. (I knew he would.) Now that I’ve softened the travel-blow with an extravagant idea, it’ll be much easier to talk him into a 5-7 day stretch of relaxation. πŸ˜‰

Praying for… so many. Families who have been separated, the safe journey of refugees escaping violence and persecution, my sweet friend Rebecca Jo and her family, the health and well-being of family members and pets, neglected dogs who suffer when the heat index bursts.
**Definitely doing something additional about these things, too.

Recovering from… pleurisy. Two weeks ago I went to the ER with some chest pain, thinking it was just a stubborn gas bubble in my abdomen. Turns out it was/is pleurisy left over from untreated bronchitis. I’m much better now but the pain and immobility was a nuisance.

Relaxing… with my new video game! I found Mario Kart onΒ for a great price and finally pulled the trigger. It’s the only video game K will play and I’m really proud that I held off on getting it until I could find it for a low price!

Wishing for… colder weather (sue me), a long vacation, peace on Earth, and a pina colada.

Thanks for hosting What’s New With You?, Kristen!

*Thank you so much, Wikibuy, for reaching out!

Aren’t the Charles Manson episodes the best? That’s what really hooked me in to the podcast. Your in-laws are starting a wine company? How cool is that! I’m glad you’re feeling better and hope you continue to rest! And I hope you get that vacation soon.

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 2:45 pm

They sucked me IN. I listened to them on the way to and from work (15 minutes each way), while I was getting dressed in the mornings, when no one was in the office… I feel like an expert now!
      Thanks, friend! ❀

I think I ask my husband daily some variation of “is it Fall yet?” “Why is it still summer?” IT”S SO HOT!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 2:46 pm

I like to crank up the a/c and nest under a billion blankets and pretend like it’s winter. Hahaha.

  3. Confuzzled Bev July 5, 2018 / 9:41 am

I may or may not be jealous of your access to good wine πŸ˜‰

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 2:53 pm

It’s sweet wine, which is all I drink. I’m spoiled and/or in trouble πŸ˜‰

  4. Kristen from Pugs & Pearls July 5, 2018 / 10:20 am

That’s so awesome for your in-laws! What a cool business to be in…
I haven’t been loving The Bachelorette this season. But it would be more fun with friends!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:00 pm

I’m spoiled/in trouble with the whole wine thing. Lol
The guys SUCK on this season. Seriously so bad… Colton is freaking FINE, though. Probably not husband material (for me anyway), but I’m totally won over by his size/muscle/looks. HAHA

  5. Kay July 5, 2018 / 10:27 am

Ok so im off to find that podcast as Im always on the hunt for a good one!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 2:59 pm

I hope you love it! I definitely do!

  6. Rebecca Jo July 5, 2018 / 10:51 am

So I’m laughing at your Bachelorette text swap & then get to the prayers & saw my name & just started tearing up. You are always just the kindest & most thoughtful thing. I just adore you!!!! Thank you so much for every single thought & prayer lifted for me. I know I say it all the time, but I truly couldnt mean it more each time I say it – but I appreciate every single one ❀ Hugs & love to you my friend!!!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:03 pm

Hehehe, I can be snarky and sweet I guess. Lol! Of COURSE you’re in my prayers! I don’t know how you find your strength but if I can send a few prayers to back you up it’s definitely not a problem πŸ˜‰ ❀

I’m getting a slow start to Erin’s challenge. The reading slump continues… Alas, it will be ok. I, too, am wishing for cooler weather. I feel like spring got the memo late to arrive and once it did, it only stayed for about a week or two. This 90s weather sucks! I really like high 70s/low 80s.

Hope you get a vacay soon and a pina colada even sooner!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:11 pm

Oof, spring pretty much didn’t show up. I don’t like spring much better, but it eases the transition into summer at least. Ha.
I have some business trips coming up so maybe I’ll bring books and *pretend* like I’m on vacation. Lol

  8. SMD July 5, 2018 / 12:01 pm

ALMOST everyone deserves a birthday party.

Glad you’re recovering from your pleurisy. How nuts.

What are your remaining fall vacation options?

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:18 pm

      Almost everyone πŸ˜‰
I had no idea what pleurisy was. Once I got it, so many people were like, “Yeah I know someone who suffers from that.” Ugh. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone. (Ok, maybe some people; the ones who don’t deserve birthday parties.)
We were thinking out west, then maybe a Caribbean thing. Now I think we might take a week off at home and day trip to bucket list places (museums, hotels, etc.). Also, one of my bffs was supposed to get married this Oct. and now she’s not so she asked me to go on vaca over that weekend (to shift the mood of the dreaded day) so my fall trip might turn into a girls’ trip.

  9. Ashley July 5, 2018 / 1:25 pm

Oh my goodness, I would totally be in heaven if my in-laws were opening a wine business, although all of my money might just go to them! And I’m totally obsessed with the bachelorette too! I have to admit that I don’t love too many of the guys this season, although hopefully some of the unnecessary drama will stop now after who went home this past week!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:29 pm

We definitely always have wine in the house πŸ™‚
The guys this season aren’t great… Colton definitely wins me over with his looks, though. Hahahaha!

  10. thesiberianamerican July 5, 2018 / 1:32 pm

Yay for a fall vacation! I love your strategy of suggesting a long trip, so you can get a decent one in return! Haha. How crazy about the pleurisy! I’m so glad you’re recovering.

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:36 pm

I think I love fall vacations more than any other time πŸ™‚ He’s not much of a traveler. Lol
      Thank you!

  11. scottaew July 5, 2018 / 1:33 pm

The wine and food look delish! Your Bachelorette comments made me laugh. I’m a 46 year old who has watched every single Bachelor and Bachelorette!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:37 pm

Thank you! I’m late to the game. I’ve only watched a few seasons and I usually only watch if my friends are. I’m not a pro-bachelor/ette by any means πŸ™‚

      Liked by 1 person

  12. Ashley July 5, 2018 / 3:45 pm

So cool about your in-law’s wine business. Super neat! I’m totally with you on summer foods. I love watermelon!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:41 pm

I always buy the pre-cut water melon slices because my husband doesn’t like it πŸ™‚ I could NEVER eat an entire watermelon before it went bad! Haha!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:43 pm

Up until You Must Remember This I was NOT a podcast person. I think it’s converting me…

  13. Laura July 5, 2018 / 9:18 pm

I need to check out that podcast! Also I think my in-laws need a career change to a wine business. That is amazing.

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:44 pm

      I’m obsessed with it.
I think in-laws with a wine company is slightly detrimental…. Hahahaha!

  14. Lauren Becker July 5, 2018 / 10:21 pm

Oh wow, I’m so glad you’re feeling better. I’ve never heard of that, but not fun! I’m with you on everything you said for July 4th. πŸ™‚
Also, I hope you can figure out a fun vacation for the fall. It’s just nice to get away sometimes!

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:45 pm

Thank you! It was weird. I’d never heard of it before either!
      I think we’re going to do a stay-cation and then I’ll do a girls’ trip πŸ™‚

  15. How lucky are you to have in-laws with a wine business!! My goodness – I’m envious! And that dish next to the wine looks delicious.
Sorry you weren’t feeling well and hope the pleurisy is sorted – not nice having to go the ER 😦
You are welcome to our cold weather but I do ask that we can keep the rain! Our dams are slowly getting fuller and with water restrictions this is a massive blessing. But the cold? You can take it πŸ™‚

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:46 pm

Thanks! We’re definitely always stocked with good wine πŸ™‚
The pleurisy was so weird. I’m very grateful that it’s gone. I’ll take the cold with no rain! Glad your dam are filling back up!!

  16. Kristen July 6, 2018 / 9:39 am

oh my gosh, you’re reading the wall of winnipeg!! i’m scared. if you hate it, don’t tell me because i want us to keep being friends πŸ˜‰
haha i love your strategy of first suggesting a longer trip!
that’s so cool about the wine from your in-laws. good luck to them and their company, so you can keep drinking good wine lol.
i love mario kart. KC plays a lot of computer games and i play the sims, but mario is the only one we can play together.
goodness, the pleurisy is terrifying!! you poor thing.

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 3:49 pm

Hahahaha. I find it to be a little slow and repetitive, but I don’t dislike it. It’s hard to put it down so I consider that to be a good thing. I’m only 25% into it, though!
      K isn’t a traveler. Mind tricks are necessary πŸ˜‰
In-laws with a wine business are dangerous. LOL
I looooove Mario Kart! It’s my favorite video game NOT on a PC πŸ™‚
I’m glad the pleurisy is gone. And as far as chest pain goes, the diagnosis could’ve been worse I guess. Lol

  17. simplyalexandra12 July 6, 2018 / 12:29 pm

I’m so excited to try that recipe. hahah you crack me up with the “softening the blow” thing. Nice. πŸ˜‰ We are going to Boston and I am sooo excited! πŸ™‚ Ooh Wall of Winnipeg… I am excited to read it but I’ve been saving it. I feel like I’ll like her other book Kulti best, just a hunch. We’ll see! πŸ™‚ I’m glad you are starting to feel better. Pleurisy sounds like the worst!! 😦 XO – Alexandra

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 4:10 pm

      It was delicious!
K isn’t a big traveler. It’s takes time to warm him up πŸ˜‰
We loved Boston when we were there! I hope you do, too!
Winnipeg is loooong. 600-some pages! Oof! So far, so good though!

  18. Emma @ Adventures of a London Kiwi July 7, 2018 / 12:52 pm

You and I have a very similar holiday selling technique with our husbands πŸ˜‰

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 4:10 pm

Gotta combat that stubbornness with trickiness πŸ˜‰ Hehe!

  19. Erin July 7, 2018 / 11:13 pm

I love that podcast!! It’s so addicting. I feel so bad that you’ve been dealing with that pleurisy crap I hope you’re on the mend now.

    • Audrey July 9, 2018 / 4:11 pm

It’s SO addicting! I love that there are so many available, too. I don’t have to wait week to week to listen to something! (Until I catch up… lol.) Thank you! I’m all better now- thank goodness!

  20. Emelia Lawrence July 9, 2018 / 8:10 pm

I REALLY didn’t think Lebron was leaving, but if he did it I figured it would be LA. I’m sad, but he did what he said he was going to do- brought us a championship. He’s going to finish this contract, then come back and play with Bronny for a year and retire a Cavalier. Well, all this should happen. HAHA! Gotta check out these podcasts you mentioned!

    • Audrey July 12, 2018 / 2:01 pm

Ugh. I didn’t think so either 😦 We knew it was down to Cle and LA since they’re the only ones that could afford him. Bleh. Not too pleased… Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Lol. I swear I’m not a basketball fan- just a Cavs fan. Ha!

  21. Nadine July 11, 2018 / 4:57 pm

That wine and food look so good! Give me! That is scary with your trip to the hospital! I am glad you are doing better. You know Mario Kart is my FAVORITE MOST FAVORITE game of all time, right???? AHHH!

    • Audrey July 12, 2018 / 2:03 pm

The wine is so good πŸ™‚ I’m spoiled. I wasn’t too worried with the ER but as soon as I mentioned chest pain the whole place went into overdrive! I’m glad it was nothing too serious πŸ™‚
      I LOOOOVE Mario Kart!! ❀ ❀ ❀
