Morning Coffee Talk

Happy April! This is one of my favorite months. I hate spring, but I love April. It’s the end of a busy work season (before the next busy summer season) and it’s a little warmer but not miserably hot and it’s our wedding anniversary month. April is just a happy month in my mind.

(And happy birthday to my mom today!!)

Maybe you’re not feeling it, but hopefully you can find something joyful about today.

Here’s something to smile about- let’s slow down and grab some coffee for a quick chat! I’m actually going to be drinking a smoothie (that I made in my normal blender) but I think you should have a yummy cafe treat!

If we were having coffee I think I’d have to bring up the weather. We had some beautiful sunny 45º-60º days here… and then it DUMPED snow on Sunday. In the meantime, K was on a business trip in California and he got SO BURNT. Eighty degrees without a cloud in the sky.

*Honestly, I was great with the snow. I love the surprise flurries we get in spring.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that we’re headed to a NASCAR race soon! It’s my favorite sport! I love sitting at the track and feeling the sun and hearing the cars and smelling the tires. We have pit and garage passes (before the race access) and I’m SO excited! NASCAR just feels like summer.

If we were having coffee I’d share Steph’s post from yesterday with you. I 100% agree with her. It’s a matter of changing our behaviors and raising the next generation to smash the boys’ club and make the world good for everyone.

If we were having coffee I’m sure you’d notice that my hair is shorter and purpler. Lol. I did that two weeks ago and I love the purple. The length is a different story. I’m so used to long hair & it’s frustrating that I can’t pull it up as easily as I used to… I’m definitely growing it back out!

If we were having coffee I’d ask how you celebrate anniversaries. Our 6 year wedding anniversary is at the end of the month and we’ve got NOTHING planned. We’ve done everything from dinner out to a weekend trip.

Before we go, if we were having coffee, I’d ask for some good vibes, prayers, thoughts, etc. We have so much going on right now with work and life. It’s exhausting and draining. We need all the happy vibes we can get! I’m happy to return the favor, too 🙂

Your turn! Tell me about the new things in your life! Any weekend trips planned or upcoming celebrations?

  1. You hate spring? Aww! Spring and autumn are my favourite seasons. Specifically late spring and early autumn. The only times of year where it’s neither cold, grey and miserable nor tooooo hot. Anything about around 25°C is too hot for me so summer is torture.

We literally just go out for a meal to celebrate our anniversary. But then we’re not married, so I feel like an imposter even calling it an “anniversary”. Who still celebrates the day they started dating after this long?

Sending you all the good vibes. I hope everything calms down for you and whatever is going on in your life results in something happy ❤

Hate hate hate spring. It is my least favorite season by a landslide. I love fall, though 🙂 You still get to celebrate an anniversary!! Married or not, it’s a special date in your relationship! Celebrate all you want!!
Thank you so much, friend! ❤

I’ll swap you our autumn for your spring haha! Raining this side of the world now and quite chilly today. Always grateful for the rain because of our drought last year but I really love the warm weather. I always get all meh when summer ends and try cheer myself up with winter bucket lists and thoughts of hot chocolate.

    Happy Anniversary for this month!

Happy birthday to your mom! Oh, April is extra warm and humid here but there are days that are still breezy and the wind lulls you to sleep almost. Lol

Hope you have a wonderful month!

I love Spring, just minus the allergies. I don’t do well in really hot weather, so this is usually an okay time for me. LOL I just need it to stop raining all the dang time. Happy Birthday to your mom! I hope you have a great month – and I’m not sure what you could do for your anniversary. Is there a bucket list item you both have that you could cross off? Or just doing something kind of chill is always nice too. 🙂

One thing that I can’t seem to get used to is how often the weather changes here!! It was in the 70s over the weekend so I thought I could finally say goodbye to my hats and scarves, but then the weather dropped again. In Hawaii, I never had to think about the weather because it was always the same.

Nick and I have been so bad about celebrating our anniversaries and it makes me kinda sad! We said we would always do something like a night away, but then life/military life gets in the way. I think a nice dinner out is the perfect way to go. We had our court anniversary in February and we went out to dinner for it. We might do something in August for our other anniversary (the day we had our wedding celebration) but we’ll see. We always said we would not celebrate our February anniversary because the celebration was more important to us, but since we can never celebrate in August we usually end up celebrating in February. Our life is so weird hahaha.

Hahahahaha- oh geez. Yes. The weather here is nuts. I can’t imagine having consistent weather! That’d be so strange! Sorry you got faked out! That’s pretty much how spring goes around here. Lol
We started off by switching who planned it, but that’s kind of fallen by the wayside. We’ve done weekend trips and dinners out. With all the traveling we’ve been doing, we kind of just want to stay home… So we’ll see what we end up doing. It’s on a Saturday so it seems like a waste to do nothing 😉
You gotta do what you gotta do to make it work 😀

I agree, nascar is summer! I love it so much. My mom questions how I can love it when I’m so environmentally conscious, especially in not even owning my own car, but I don’t care. It’s still my favorite.

I mean… they’re *kind of* trying to go green with fuel and all that. But still…. the smell of the gas and tires and everything is one of the best parts! SUCH a good summer sport!

We’ve never been BIG anniversary celebrators… we typically do a dinner. a fun activity, date style… but nothing crazy… the older you get too, the more its just like, HIGH-FIVE, we made it another one!

Is purpler a word? It doesn’t underline red so I’m assuming it is… lol!
I enjoy our evenings out. We’ve done trips and dinner and shows… This one is on a Saturday so we’ll see what I can convince K to go out & do. Haha.

For Year 2 we went on a trip (Niagara Falls) and for Year 5 we went on a trip (Gettysburg). The other years have been a nice dinner or a show somewhere. We’ll probably keep it low key this year.

  10. Snow?? No thank you! I love spring though. Although we have so much rain and it is still chilly here. We don’t do anything really for anniversaries. Except on our 5th we took a trip to Chicago. FOr our 10th we might take another trip. Otherwise nothing. So go big or go home lol. Sending you lots of good vibes!

I never mind a little snow 🙂 Unless we’re flying somewhere. I’m not a huge fan when they have to de-ice a plane. LOL. We did a trip for our 5 years last year. I think this year will be a nice dinner.
      Thank you!

We did a trip to Gettysburg for our 5 year last year. I think this year we might just do dinner 🙂

You know I love anniversaries! 6 years is definitely worth celebrating! Going to dinner is always a good option. Or you can cook a special meal! Once we got crazy about bought lobster tails from the grocery store instead of going out. Light candles at the table too! It’s so special!

Love purple hair. It always takes me a while to adjust to shorter hair but I like it better I find.

We don’t do much for anniversaries. Dinner out or at home. If we can be at the shore, we’re there because I prefer it (duh) plus we got married one town over from our shore house.

    Thanks for sharing my link!

We’ve done trips before (year 2 & 5) but after all our traveling this year I think we’re going to stick close to home. Maybe some dinner or mini golf or shopping. We’ll see.
