It’s Tuesday, but I don’t post on Mondays, so you’re getting my weekend thoughts late.
We had a fun weekend. I accidentally spent a lot of time with my family but that’s never a bad thing. Haha.
A quick recap: Dinner with my parents on Friday (an anniversary treat to us). Prom prep for my cousin & derby viewing on Saturday. A bridal shower (I attended) and baby shower (K attended; it was co-ed) on Sunday.
And now a few thoughts on the weekend…
Prom and high school are such a huge deal when you’re young. I tend to forget that. This summer marks TEN years since my graduation and my head is in such a different place than it was a decade ago. My 17 year old cousin went to prom this year and she looked incredible. She’s a very low-maintenance, jeans and t-shirt, athletic kind of person. Seeing her in a dress with her hair done and a full face of make-up kind of floored all of us.
I watched the derby for the first time ever. I even placed a dollar bet on Long Range Toddy (Stephanie’s rec on her Thursday post, lol). I know NOTHING about horse racing or the rules, but here’s my opinion anyway…
I don’t have a problem with the objection or the disqualification if those are the hard rules. I have a problem with the team that filed the objection… Country House wouldn’t have gotten second if Maximum Security hadn’t left his lane. He not only benefited from the move, but he benefitted from calling the winner out. Meanwhile, the three or four horses/jockeys/teams that were cut off AND could’ve been seriously hurt, didn’t file the objection… even though it happened to them.
I just think it was sneaky & opportunistic in a bad way.
And that’s my 2 cents on that. I was also surrounded by dogs all night so I wasn’t actually mad about anything.
I know it happened on Monday, but the newest royal arrived and it just makes me so giddy. I love that family. And Harry’s interview was the hands down cutest thing I’ve seen all year.
He can’t stop smiling and giggling and I love it.
I had more thoughts, but I’m already late getting this posted. So instead of my rambling, tell me about your weekend! Do you love the royals, too? Or can you barely recall the Queen’s first name? Derby thoughts?

I don’t really care one way or the other about the royal family (Ha, bad Brit!). I mean, the Queen is awesome but I just don’t know about the whole concept of being special just by being born into a certain family thing. I am jealous of Kate and Meghan’s fertility though. I mean Harry and Meghan only got married 5 seconds ago and they already have a baby. So unfair! Lol.

Kate and Meghan both seem to have crazy good fertility. (That said… I doubt the royal family would share if Kate had had any miscarriages… I don’t know how they’d handle that. I’m almost sure Meghan didn’t, though, since she was instantly pregnant.) I just think they seem like such a kind family. From the outside anyway.

Not sure how they would handle it with Kate but I know Zara Phillips (/Tindall) has had two miscarriages. Obviously she’s further down in line for the throne and much less talked about than William and Harry but she’s still the Queen’s granddaughter.

I can’t stop looking at the pattern because it’s partially up on my half-finished vision board. Seriously.
I honestly want Princess Diana’s sons to have genuine happiness in their lives, so the new baby for Harry and his uncontrollable giddiness just made me smile. Congratulations to them both as creating a new life/energy/being is a remarkably beautiful gift. Thanks for sharing your weekend thoughts with us….well done.

I think the royal family just seems very kind and humble for being, you know, ROYAL. I love seeing good things come to any and all of them.

Harry is the CUTEST. Such a far cry from his partying days and I love it 🙂 I liked him back then, too, but still. Lol.
Cousin 😉 We’ve been mistaken for sisters SOOOOO many times, though. And when she’s around my dad people think he’s her dad. Lol.

Your cousin looks a lot like you! Love her dress choice! She looks real good. I’m so excited about Baby Sussex! Harry looked like he wanted to jump up and down! He had such a hard time keeping it in. I can’t wait to find out the name! Hopefully we’ll find out tomorrow!

My grandma and aunt couldn’t believe how similar we looked. I should’ve put some eyeliner on, too, to compare. Haha. Harry is so cute. He and Meghan have such a beautiful family already 🙂

You and your cousin look so much alike! 😀 She looks fantastic and I hope she had a blast. My niece’s prom was two weekends ago and she, like your cousin, is more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal so it was great seeing her all dressed up too. I love Harry’s interview. While I’m not a huge royal fan, I do like Harry and Meghan in particular and he is so dang happy that you can’t help but smile.

I am just loving the families that William and Harry have. I’m excited to see all their kids grow up and hopefully continue to make the world a better place like their parents and late grandmother have 🙂

You and your cousin look so much alike, and I’m 9 years out from high school and I agree, my head is in a totally difference space now too! My priorities are way different and I feel like I’m more confident (or maybe I’m just insecure about different things now? Hmm…)

I am SO MUCH MORE confidant than I was in hs. Even about the things I’m insecure about now. Haha! I think years 25-28 have given me another level of confidence, too. Can you imagine if we felt this way in hs?? I feel like things would’ve been WAY easier. Lol
