Erin’s 11.0 Book Challenge

Admittedly, I have been a pathetic reader for the last month or two. Honestly, I don’t feel like it because of my icky stomach and exhaustion. I hate that because my stack of books is BURNING a hole in my nightstand. And poor Ian Malcom has been stuck in the lost world with the dinos forever because I just can’t finish a book.

But I digress.

Erin just released the categories for her next challenge and nothing motivates me like a challenge, so fingers crossed.

| 5 points| Freebie: Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood
| 10 points | A book that starts with “F”: Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey
| 10 points | A book with rain(s), thunder, lightning, or monsoon in the title: The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan
| 15 points | A book with a picture of a building: Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
| 20 points | A book that the author uses an initial in her name: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
| 20 points | A book with an article of clothing/accessory in the title: The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie
| 25 points | A book set in India: The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling
| 30 points | A book that has won or been short-listed for the Booker Prize: Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
| 30 points | About a human with superpowers/supernatural powers: Archenemies by Marissa Meyer
| 35 points | A book that has the same title as a book of a different genre: Soulless by Gail Carriger

I tried to pull from my tbr list but some of these were out of the blue. I’ve only finished the challenge once so we’ll see how it goes this time around. Ha.

Have you read & loved any of these picks?

  1. I really liked Little Fires Everywhere! I haven’t decided if I’m going to do this round of the challenge, yet, because I’m doing the Popsugar challenge and have been loving picking what I like as I go along. Plus, I’ve gotten a lot of ARCs recently and I love reading them right then and there. We’ll see!

    • I love trying to make my tbr books fit in to Erin’s challenge. I do the POPsugar one but I don’t take it very seriously, lol. I definitely try harder with Erin’s but I still veer off and read other books, too. Lol

  2. Little Flies Everywhere has been on my list for so long, I really need to read it! I read Anne of Green Gables years ago and would love to again!

    • Little Fires Everywhere has been on my list for a long time. I’m looking forward to that one. I can’t believe I’ve never read Anne. It seems like something I should’ve devoured long ago, lol.

  3. I really enjoyed The Lightning Thief, read the entire series. HP was better (but it’s not a fair comparison) but I love Greek Gods so I was definitely drawn to the story. It’s a fast, easy read. I read Anne of Green Gables eons ago and definitely enjoyed it, although I can’t remember a lick of it either. LOL! I tried Soulless but quit. I don’t think it was the book but more me. It was during my reading slump so I actually want to give it another try because it feels like the type of book I would enjoy. 😀 Good luck!

    • I love Greek gods, too. I think I’ll really enjoy Percy Jackson. I’ll try not to compare it to HP 😉 I think it’s strange that I’ve never read Anne. It seems like it should’ve crossed my path at some point. I always feel bad when I quit a book and I know it’s my fault- not the book’s. Lol

  4. The categories are out? Oh wow! I hope they’ll be on Goodreads again. Now I need to go and study my tbr shelves for something that will fit.

I read Anne of Green Fables when I was about 10. Pretty sure I loved it at the time…

I got my energy back in the second trimester so hopefully you will too and can get some good reading time in then. Supposedly it then allowed goes downhill again in the third trimester but clearly I have no experience of that.

      • Thanks lovely. I’m not in the FB group because I prefer not to have my full name associated with my blog. I’ve taken part via Goodreads the last few times but it’s been really quiet there and so far there’s no announcement.

  5. I really liked Little Fires Everywhere! And, I’ve heard that you may be getting a package with that book in it as soon as someone drags herself to the post office… 😉

    • I have NO idea why I’ve never read it. Maybe it just wasn’t popular around here when I was growing up (or my mom never forced it on me, lol). Hoping to change that soon! Then I’ll check out the show(s)!!

  6. Good luck with the challenge! I read Anne of Green Gables as a kid but it wasn’t my most favorite. A lot of people love it though! I have the illustrated edition of The Lightning Thief and I need to try that – I’ve never read any of the Percy Jackson books. I’ve also always been curious about Soulless, so hopefully it’s a good one.

    • Thank you! I’m excited to read some of the “popular” ones like Percy Jackson and Anne and Little Fires Everywhere. It seems like I’m the last to read all those. Haha!

  7. I have had such a hard time reading ever since I’ve gotten pregnant. I’m getting a little bit back into it now. I’m finding it hard to read for pleasure when I feel like there are a million books about birth and babies I should be reading! Trying to find a balance! I also just can’t concentrate on anything!

    • I just have no energy to read. I abandoned three books this month because they didn’t hold my interest and I just didn’t care. I’m not even feeling guilt about not reading baby books- I just don’t have any energy to read. Fortunately that’s changing for me, too! Lol!

  8. I tried Little Fires a few months ago and put it down after maybe 2 chapters. I still *want* to read it so it’s still on the TBR. I loved Anne of Green Gables as a kid! Good luck this round!
