Some of y’all were super interested in the gender reveal so here it is!
On Sunday we had our family and close friends over for a BBQ.
I’m a lover of themes and we tossed around quite a few, but K wanted to keep it simple. Plus, it was a last minute party & I didn’t have enough time for a true Harry Potter theme (my first choice) 😆 Also, I hate the color pink so I didn’t want a bunch of blue and pink things (although I gave in a little).
We decided on a colorful party with fox accents. I love foxes and we have a bunch of fox stuff- why reinvent the wheel?
We invited about 54 people. (I know that’s a lot but our immediate family is local and that was still leaving off quite a few people. Our wedding guest list was 300+ people… small town probs.) Approximately 32 people were able to come.
The weather started off great. Then we had a down pour. *sigh* We moved almost everything inside and crammed all our guests into the kitchen, dining area, and living room to eat. It was tight but our guests were great & didn’t complain.
Fortunately, when it was time to reveal the baby’s sex, we were able to move outside and take advantage of the sunshine halftime show. (Of course it was hot & humid AF but at least we could all move a little, lol.)
I wish I’d have snapped a picture of everyone on the porch watching us. So many phones out and smiles and excited loved ones.
Our back porched is elevated and about 3/4 the length of our house so they were on the stage while we stood down below.
We did a pour paint reveal (you can see the video on my IG since I can’t figure it out here). My plan is to do something artsy with the pink canvas- despite my dislike of pink. Lol
I’m very grateful for the our family and friends putting up with the rainy plan B. And for all the loaned chairs & serving dishes that we gathered up last week. And my wonderful husband for putting together so many major elements of the party. And my dad, brother, and bff Kayla coming over early to help us out ♥ Love you guys.
We’re in a family of rule breakers so a few people still brought gifts to spoil this little lady. I’m not sure how we got so lucky with these fantastic people, but this little girl is already surrounded by the most loving, generous community. Thanks, everyone!
Foxes! 😍😍 I love them.
I hate pink too. Part of the reason I won’t be telling anyone the gender of our future babies is so they at least have to wait until they’re born to drown me in cliche pink/blue crap. Anyone who insists on buying early will be forced to stick to gender neutral. I also try not to give people cliche girl or boy clothing as gifts for the same reason. I mean it can still be “girly” but not pink and frilly – unless I know for a fact that’s what they want.
You look so pretty in that skirt and your tiny bump is do cute!

Thank you! We didn’t have to buy any fox stuff- I just had all that. Yikes. Haha.
Ughhh. I’m sure life will get the best of me and she’ll announce her favorite color is pink someday, but until then there’s a very loose ban on pink. Ha. People have already broken the rule, though 😉 It’s alright. Lol
Thank you!

YAY! Congratulations on your baby girl! Your gender reveal party was so cute. I love the fox details. I had to laugh when you said you hate pink-I was thinking I bet it’s going to be a girl!
I think gender reveals are so fun! It’s gotta be so encouraging to see all the support your little one already has! I feel you on the big family thing too. We had well over 250 at our wedding, and most of that was family.

Hahahaha- thank you! Yeah… I love girls and I love all the women in my life but… dang that whole pink + baby girl thing! Haha. I’m sure she’ll get lots of pink but her mom will be buying lots of yellows and greys and other colors to balance it out 😉
SO MUCH FAMILY. And so many of them are local! We almost waited until the end of July for the party because K’s Texas and Kentucky family will be in town. We decided the list was long enough with Ohio folk and we didn’t want to make anyone wait that long. Haha.

I’ve heard some people use “Fox” as a name! I didn’t even bother bringing it up to K. Hahaha! We’re planning to do a little woodland nursery for her. We already have a bunch of fox stuff and so far she’s been gifted two bunnies. It just seems natural. Lol
I still feel kinda little but also kinda fluffy. Haha. It makes it kind of hard to pick out an outfit! Lol!
I will get that to you asap!

Thank you! 😀
I thought about an HP shower, lol. Originally we were going to do a woodland shower but my mom suggested a literature/book theme (similar to our wedding) so I feel like that’s a good medium 🙂 It’s so weird to start thinking about it!

AWW, this is really cute. I love foxes too, and it’s a fun/different idea. I’m sorry you didn’t get an HP reveal, but like Lindsay said, an HP shower would be awesome! I’m sure there are tons of great ideas out there. 🙂 I just had an HP themed birthday, and I already want to find a way to have another party all about Harry Potter. haha
I’m glad the weather wasn’t bad the WHOLE time, and that your family and friends were all so gracious and helpful. Love the gifts you got – you should know people will break that no gifts rule! haha

An HP party would’ve required way more work than this 🙂 It’s no big deal. Lol. I love that you had an HP themed bday party! I told K that our kid can pick her party themes EXCEPT year 11. That one will have to be HP. Hahaha!
Our family and friends were super laid back with the changes and weather. Thank goodness!

A baby girl!!! So freaking excited. My brother has two sons and a daughter (in that order) and I love my nephews very, very much but I squealed very loudly when he told me they were having a girl, cuz I am a girly girl who likes to give girly things. My brother and wife are not but were okay with all the girly stuff because then they didn’t have to buy it. It always bums me out that so many people dislike pink because pink and red are my two favorite colors. And I like yellow a lot but it doesn’t look good on me, whereas pink and red do, so obviously there is some vanity in play with my favorite colors too. LOL! Love the paint pour reveal! So cute. You look amazing and happy and I’m so excited for you and K. You two (and big siblings Enzo and Lylee) are going to be great parents!

I probably won’t be flooding her closet with pink (and I think those super close to me won’t either), but I’m perfectly ok with people gifting her pink stuff. We already have two little pink outfits from people *shurg* Oh well. I love mustard yellow and purple, though. I scoop up any yellow stuff I find!
Thank you so much! It took a long time to decide on the paint pour but I’m glad we have the artwork now 😀

I loved seeing this on IG! So so fun and so cute! I love the fox theme. It is perfect and simple but not THAT simple! Dang, it looks so coordinated and super fun! 🙂 I just love all of this. Is that a lemon skirt? We could twin. 😛 I’m really excited for you guys! I’m not going to lie, I feel like for once(?) I’ve got baby fever pretty badly… lol! Either way I’d be excited, you know what I mean…! LOL XO – Alexandra

Thank you! We didn’t have to buy a single fox thing. Hahaha. I had all of that (plus more that I didn’t get pictures of)! I love my bright lemon skirt! I tried to dress gender neutral for the party, LOL.
I swear, since getting married, my baby fever has come and gone. There’d be times that I felt like I NEEDED a kid and times that I was like, “Meh, maybe we just won’t have kids.” It’s funny how all women experience it (or don’t experience it!) differently!

How fun, and nice that so many family members were able to come! Living far away…I’ve really come to treasure rare family time! Congrats on your girl! I really wanted to know what this baby would be ahead of time…I’m practical, and wanted to know if I could chill out and know that baby brother could just wear Cyrus’s old clothes, and yep, that’s the case. No shopping needed around here!

Thank you! We live near most of our family. I know it’s a blessing but sometimes it’s…. just A LOT. Haha 🙂 My husband didn’t care if we were having a boy or a girl, but he was SO anxious to know as soon as we could. He likes to plan and be in control. Haha. We can’t control much with pregnancy, so we’re all about collecting that info 😉 Yay for some loved hand-me-downs!! That’s so exciting! Congrats on your boy!
