Happy Thursday! I’m linking up with Kristen for What’s New With You?.
She does a monthly review for her posts so I’m going to give that a shot this time. (Feel free to still sip on coffee like we normally do every other month π )
I know people say it every month, but I truly don’t know where August went… It flew by and that terrifies the living bejesus outta me. (Less than 13 weeks until I’m due- HALP!)
Ok… back to August.
At the beginning of the month I put some purple back in my hair, met with my mom and mother-in-law about baby shower plans, and helped K decorate and improve the office at work. Also, my dad rescued a squirrel from his garage cats. (Unfortunately Secret died after a few days- we think the kitties caused some internal damage. RIP little guy.)
We took a work trip to Indianapolis for a few days. We weren’t there long but we definitely had some long nights. (That’s typically how our trips go. We’re headed to NOLA soon for a very quick work trip soon.)
The following weekend we packed up an overnight bag and drove to Bristol, TN with my parents and my brother for the NASCAR race. It was probably my last live race for the next few years… sigh. (Oh well, she’s worth it π )
On August 23rd K got LASIK surgery. It was a thought-out decision but whirlwind process. He hated the procedure and was in aΒ lot of pain immediately following, but he was much better the next day and he’s healed up really well. We also did a car show that weekend.
This past weekend was cookout mania. We had the employees over to our house Friday night for a cookout, Saturday we headed to our best friends’ house for a cookout, and Sunday we had a double headers- K’s aunt and uncle’s house, then my parents’ house in the evening. We topped off the weekend with a lunch cookout on Monday at my grandparents’ house. I consumed two steaks, four hotdogs, and two bratwursts. Live in the same town as all your family, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. (I kid, I kid. We enjoy all the perks of having family close.)
And that was August.
And now we’re in September and I am freaked out, lol. We have two trips this month (one work, one fun) and then it’s nesting season… which also happens to be FALL and my introvert, cold-loving, Halloween soul just can’t handle the excitement! Whew!
But, again, back to August. Tell me what you were up to and what’s new with you!
Look how cute your bump is! I can’t get over how absolutely stunning you look pregnant.
August truly did fly by, but I feel like this entire year has flown by. I’m not ready for autumn… not because I don’t want summer to end but because if it’s autumn then the next time I blink it will be Christmas and I’m not ready for 2019 to be over. I feel like I haven’t had a chance to breathe all year.

You are so so sweet. Thank you, friend β€
I agree completely about this year. It's been a whirlwind and I don't think it's slowing down any time soon for me. I truly hope it does for you, though!! A nice relaxing fall would be awesome π

Thanks, friend π Some days I feel cute and other days I have to roll back and forth to get out of bed. LOL. SO many cookouts.

The baby (aka little, sweet potato) bump is so freaking cute! Your office looks fantastic. Oh man. I really, really want Lasik surgery but I do not like people touching my eyes. Like I’ll kick you so … that’s a bit of an issue. But I may need to put on my big girl pants and just do it. I wear multi-focal glasses now (yup, the joy of old age) but my nose bridge is flat so my glasses have always slid (and yes, I look like the scolding librarian), which wasn’t a huge deal but now is. I have to often use one hand to hold my glasses in place so I can see things closer (like the computer screen) which makes typing hard. Ugh. So many cookouts! The joy of having so much family nearby. π

Thank you! Some days I feel cute and some days I feel like a hag. LOL
We’re so, so happy with the office space. We moved in in February and every little improvement we’ve done has been so refreshing and energizing!
K also HATES people touching his eye. He flinches a lot and they thought they were going to have to change up the procedure for him but instead they used a device (like the wire octagon to color Easter eggs) to hold his eye open. He HATED it but it didn’t the trick. Definitely not pleasant, though.
At least we didn’t have to cook all weekend π

I love throwing a bandana in my hair and hiding the frizz/grey/bumps! Haha! I don’t think I could stand to do LASIK. I can’t believe K did it. With all your medical luck I agree that maybe you should avoid the surgery… lol. Just to be safe π
NOLA was fun! So, so, so, so HOT but fun π

Love that top on you- so cute! I’ve been considering LASIK for a few years but I’m so nervous! My eye dr wanted me to hold off until we see how my eyes are at the end of this year and then make a decision. Glad to hear K is healing well though! I loved NOLA, hope you have a great time!

Thank you! It was a StitchFix find and I’m glad I kept it π
He regretted LASIK for the first 5 hours, but after that all was well. He’s also very touchy and flinch-y when it comes to his eyes. And he’s a guy so… you know… man flu rules apply π But I think overall he’s glad he did it!

She is most definitely growing! Ha!
They told Kyle that it corrects the issues for near-sighted/far-sighted/etc. but if your eyes are going to need reading glasses in your 50s or 60s then your eyes are just going to need reading glasses. My mom, uncle, and Kyle have all had it done without any issues, although my uncle has JUST started to use readers for small print things. My mom hasn’t had to yet.

Its already 58 degrees here in Minnesota (a little chilly for me, to be honest)!! I do enjoy the fall but I prefer it to be HIGH 60s, low 70s so I can enjoy the fall colors without freezing!! π¦

Oh girl… SEND ME THAT WEATHER! I guess Ohio had a fake fall the week that I was sweating my butt off in New Orleans. Haha. We came back Sunday & the temp rocketed up to the 80ΒΊs and 90ΒΊs again. SIGH. Come on, Fall. I’m ready!

That last picture of you is adorable! I can’t believe you’re so close to your due date though – I’d be happy with nesting season being during Fall/Halloween time too though. My favorite time of the year. π I hope your trips go well this month, especially the one that’s fun and not work related. π Love the purple in your hair!

It kind of freaks me out how close we’re getting. Half the time I’m excited and I just want her to be here and the other half I’m terrified and I try to figure out how to slow it all down. Lol! NOLA was fun! Our next one is to Tampa. Then it’s spooky season π

What a fun month!! The office looks really good, you should be proud. I’m really glad K is doing well after his procedure. It’s so hard to see the ones we love in pain!
I love your red bandana! What a cute look!
Happy September! Enjoy all that nesting.

You are gorgeous! I LOVE the purple in your hair! It seems so “fall,” is that a thing? Because it feels like it is. Hope K is enjoying the improved vision!!! My sister in law got Lasik this month too and said the every-hour drops thing was awful, too…but that it’ll overall be worth it!
Also how long did it take you to get to Tennessee?! That sounds like a huge road trip!

Thank you! I think it’s a thing! Purple and maroon always remind me of fall π And of course orange, too. K has totally recovered and I don’t think he has any lingering regrets. He enjoys wearing sunglasses without having to mess with contacts, lol.
Our trip to Bristol was about 5 or 6 hours. We go to the races at least once a year- but this was our second trip. Lol. Bristol is on the north side of TN. There’s actually a Bristol, Tennessee and a Bristol, Virginia!

I thought seriously about Lasik years ago and went to have a consultation but chickened out about going through with it…I am way too squeamish about my eyes and apparently prefer being slightly blind. Didn’t help that Angel decided to research into cases of Lasik gone wrong. But everyone I know who has done Lasik says it’s been awesome and they love being able to see. I love the purple in your hair!

My mom and my uncle did it YEARS ago. I believe they scratched my mom’s eye when they did hers but after a quick correction all was well. K flinches and hates having his eye touched so they went to some extra lengths to keep it open but it all went well. He was SO uncomfortable and ouchy for a few hours afterward, though. We got home and he slept for 5 hours. After that most of the discomfort went away and he was good as new the next day. I don’t have vision issues but if I did I don’t know that I’d go through with it…
Thank you! I love the purple π
