That’s a Wrap! [May]

It feels odd to start a series in the middle of the year, but that’s what I’m doing.

Today I’m sharing my favorite moments, lessons, posts, funnies, etc. from the past month.

Favorite Moments

We went back to work this month. There are only a handful of us in a very large office/warehouse and we all keep our distance, but it’s nice to be within conversation-shouting distance of other adults.

We took M swimming last weekend and SHE LOVED IT just like I thought she would! She loves baths and doesn’t mind water on her face one bit. I’d hoped to have her in swim classes by now but COVID ruins all the things. Oh well, swimming with Mama is the next best thing.

K has been cooking more and I AM A-OK WITH IT. Our grill took a poo so we splurged on a new outdoor griddle and K is making sure we get our moneys worth! Yay!

Favorite Lesson(s)

Worrying about tomorrow steals today’s joy. Often when my anxiety creeps up I tell myself that it’s a waste of time and energy to worry about something that’s 100% out of my control… but lately I’ve been struggling. And I’ve been trying to “anticipate” bad habits that K or M might form and then reacting to them long before it’s an issue… which just creates an issue. Essentially I just need to chill.

Favorite Posts

My sister-in-law Christina is one of the cutest humans I know. This Easter was a bust as far as family get-togethers go but you need to pin/save/bookmark these adorable cupcakes for next year!

This collection of meals from new-mom Carolann is so impressive. She and her husband put in the time and effort before baby M was born and it paid off SO MUCH for them. And then she shared their recipes and tips for other folks!

Other Favorites

Pixar released a new short on Disney + called OUT. It’s so adorable and heartwarming. 10 out of 10, would recommend ♥

From My Blog

I didn’t post much this month.

I shared my favorite Aldi finds at the beginning of the month.

I also shared my initial discomfort and anxiety about becoming MOM.

Funnies

Typically I will include funnies but it’s late and I don’t have any saved so I’m wrapping this up for now.

What was your favorite moment from the month?

I cant believe May is coming to an end. This month has really flown right on by! I was planning on doing swim lessons with Zoe this summer, but I guess that will be pushed to next year!

May flew by… I finally signed M up for lessons. They’re smaller classes, it’s just you touching your child in the water, and the changing rooms etc. are closed… Tomorrow is the first one for us & it will be M’s first time in public since March except an outdoor church service this past Sunday. We’ll see…

Fun new series! That’s great M enjoys being in the pool, and swimming with mom is definitely a positive, I’m sure! I still need to watch OUT – glad you loved it. It’s crazy how quick May went, compared to the rest of quarantine.

  3. Excellent lesson to learn! I love that quote. Anxiety is rarely productive. Nothing ever happens like we imagine, and it robs us of the present. (Not to say it’s easy to shake off either.)

Sometimes keeping that anxiety at bay is a full-time job. Ha.

Love this idea! You can start a series any time you want. Thanks so much for sharing my post, I really appreciate it. I loved your post about your anxiety around becoming a mom. M loves the water too! She had one swimming lesson before the pandemic and she loved it. I wish we could keep taking her but we just got a blow up pool we’re gonna try out soon.

      And thank you!!
Isn’t it so fun to watch them discover a new thing they enjoy?? I signed M up for some swim lessons starting tomorrow. It’s still socially distant, etc. I’m excited to get her out somewhere for the first time in 2 months!

  6. Shouting distance is what we’re doing at work too. It’s kind of cool that we can shout throughout the library right now and no one minds, lol.
