That’s A Wrap! [June]

Today I’m sharing my favorite moments, lessons, posts, funnies, etc. from the past month.

Favorite Moments

Kristen inspired me to look into Mercari to resell some of M’s clothes AND I’VE ACTUALLY HAD SUCCESS! I’ve never sold anything online before but I love hosting garage sales… and this feels so similar. I get so excited when I make a sale!

K is still cooking. He told me that helps him unwind after a day at work or gets him motivated for the day on weekends. I love that a) he’s found an outlet at home for stress and b) I get to eat his feelings. LOL. We bought an outdoor Blackstone Griddle and I truly believe it’s K’s new best friend.

Favorite Lesson(s)

I need to work on becoming a type-lower-case-a. My best days (as a mom, as an employee, as a human) are when we have a very loose schedule and I more often than not just go with the flow. I’m a controlling person but I’m learning to have a little patience & grace with everything and everyone around me- including me.

Favorite Posts

Steph shared a link to BuzzFeed with Black Bookstagrammers to follow! I wanted to share it, too, as well as a link to top rated books by black authors. I’ve only read THUG but I’d like to read more of these.

Other Favorites

K and I are watching Letterkenny on Hulu right now and if you’re not, you should be. It’s crass and raunchy and profane… but also PC and hilarious. It’s a weird show with weird humor but if that’s your thing, give it a try.

I joined a book club this month that focuses on and discusses racial literature. I have high hopes and I’m happy to keep the conversation going- I don’t want to become complacent once the hashtags are no longer trending.

From My Blog

Erin’s newest book challenge starts TOMORROW and I shared my picks.

This month my baby turned SIX MONTHS OLD. And I blogged about it.

Funnies

Kyle’s major complaint (with sunglasses)

I’ve posted that last one before but it is Enzo through and through.

Let’s cross our fingers for no alien attacks or meteors in July.

Hey that’s awesome you’re selling on Mercari! I’ve been selling there and another app for a while. It is so fun to make a sale plus it’s awesome because I basically use my funds to buy more clothes, so we never actually pay out of pocket for new clothes for the kids.

I don’t know why I waited so long to check out these selling apps. I love it. And it’s so simple. I’m hoping to dedicate those funds to paying off credit cards & medical bills from M’s arrival!

  2. It makes me SO happy you’ve had success with Mercari too!! I’ve gotten several messages from friends/readers who gave it a go after my post, and everyone seems to be doing well with it! Who can’t use extra money these days?! Thanks so much for sharing. I bet you will have even more success selling old baby clothes-that seems to be a huge market!

The meme with the color change is the kind of mom I am. Hahaha. I followed so many of those instagrammers and they have such good recommendations! I dont know why I wasn’t following more book people???

ME TOO. Hahaha. I can’t wait until M is old enough for me to blow her mind with things like that. Always gotta stay one step ahead of those clever little brains! I’ve been tossing around the idea of creating a book instagram- mainly to just cultivate and focus on book bloggers and drown the rest of the world out when I need to. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but it’s one of the many thoughts I have when I lay in bed at night and don’t sleep. Hahaha.

You are more than welcome to join the one I am a part of! We haven’t started discussing the book (White Fragility) yet! So far we’ve been waiting for people to get it and discussing racial movies/docs on Netflix. I think we’re starting into book discussion a week from Tuesday. We meet on Zoom at 8pm every other Tuesday night! Let me know if you want to participate! I will invite you to the FB group 🙂

OMG the glasses + mask thing is so true! I don’t NEED need my glasses (they help but I’m not blind if I take them off) and now I make sure to leave those suckers in the freaking car because I’m so tired of them fogging up when I am just trying to find bodywash at Target hahaha

Hahahaha. I’m lucky to not have that problem (and K just whines when he has his sunglasses on, which isn’t often inside… lol). He had LASIK in September and I’m SO glad because I couldn’t handle him fussing about it all day long when we’re in public! Ha!

Hah that dog meme is so true! And I saw the one about the mom being a witch – love it. My glasses have been fogging up with masks; some masks are better than others for sure. Yay for K cooking. I’d totally be okay with that one too. haha Your new book club sounds awesome! I also want to keep reading and supporting books by black authors and other people of color. That list with YA books by black authors – I want to read Long Way Down, Dear Martin, The Black Flaming (though I own this one!), The Hate U Give (also own this – I’ve read her book On the Come Up too). The only one I’ve read SO FAR is The Poet X.
