Mmk. Let’s get to the ONE (short) story I finished this month. Woof.
Zikora by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie | ★★★★★/5 | Fiction; Short Story
Man… I love Adichie’s writing style. It sucks you in, it’s easy to comprehend, and she’s an incredible storyteller. I need to read some of her longer books. This one is 35 pages and it’s such a raw, true account of becoming a (single) mother. Plus the element of a fragile mother-daughter relationship. I read this at the perfect time- right before M turned one. It brought back all those emotions from the first few weeks.

And there you have it. Likely another challenge I will attempt & fail, but that’s all part of the fun.

I just grabbed Zikora from Amazon after reading Jana’s post. Cant wait to read it! I loved Unhoneymooners, hope you enjoy it!

I’m almost done with a Court of Thorns & Roses and I’m hooked, already borrowed the second book in the series! That book challenge sounds interesting, I’ll be looking into the rules of that next!

I am a HUGE fan of Thomas Mullen but the Firefly Brothers wasn’t my favorite of his. I hope you do like it, though (read his Darktown series. I know you don’t like violence in books but it’s excellent).
Zikora was excellent.

Violence in books doesn’t bother me like it does on screen. Except in cases of rape- I don’t love that in anything. Ha.

I really loved Red, White, and Royal Blue. And I’m PRETTY sure I read The Maltese Falcon in college. I know I’ve read something by the author.

Second mention I’ve seen of Zikora – sounds good! Resisting clicking through for another book challenge. I think I signed up for a bunch at the beginning of 2020…and promptly forgot 😉 LOL Thanks for sharing and enjoy your holidays!

Sounds like I need to read Zikora. Plus it being short means I might actually read it and it might help kickstart my reading mojo too. And oh, I forgot about A Vow so Dark and Deadly. Dark, yes, but very 2020 appropriate. 🙂 And don’t feel bad about reading one book last month since I read none. You’ve definitely got me beat!
