Take It Easy, 2021

I learned a lesson last year. I mean, I knew I should be doing this… but I didn’t put it into practice. Instead, I dreamed about the day that I could put it into practice. And then the world shut down and I was forced to do it.

“It” being slow the eff down, prioritize what makes me happy and calm, and invest in the things I want to do- not the things I should do.

I want to be a minimalist at heart, but instead I’m an extravagantist in practice. The 2020 COVID crisis did not make me a minimalist… but it did make me focus on how I spend my time, how I fill my space, and how I react to my every day situations.

Honestly, this post is getting deeper and more psychological than I meant it to…

Long story short, I enjoy reading and watching and listening to things… but I’m terrible at prioritizing entertainment. I’d sooner change the laundry over, wash a few dishes, vacuum, turn on the TV… only to leave the room and scrub the kitchen floors.

And while a clean space does bring me joy, so does Netflix and chillin’.

So I’m going to *trick* my own brain this year. I’m going to make a TV/movie/podcast to do list. Because nothing motivates ya girl to get stuff done like a checklist.

But honestly- no pressure. I’m doing it for fun. If I don’t get to everything it’s likely because I’m busy feeding a one year old or scrubbing a very dirty bathroom.

Yin and yan. Balance is essential. Yada yada. You get it.

SO without further ado- because there’s been a lot of ado in this post already- here’s my…

Easy A and Crazy Stupid Love are two movies that get played over here all the time. I haven’t seen any of the TV shows you mentioned except most of The Good Place. I had to quit it. I watched less TV in 2020 than any year of my life I think. Crazy, right? I think since most of the shows we keep up with were on break with covid and I didn’t feel like investing in anything new.

I can’t believe I haven’t seen those films. Crazy Stupid Love is one of my brother’s favorites. I’ve seen all but the final season of The Good Place. For whatever reason we didn’t finish it when it came out. I don’t watch a ton of TV and I rarely watch it if K isn’t watching.

I always loved Easy A. So much better than Mean Girls, in my humble opinion 🙂
I would love to finish Once Upon A Time. I got lost after the Aladdin storyline.
This is such a good idea!

      I don’t know how I haven’t seen it… It’s right up my ally.
I fell off the OUAT train toward the end, but never finished it. I restarted when M was born and still haven’t finished. Lol

I am finally finishing up Gilmore Girls in a few weeks & will dive into Supernatural.
Netflix is forever distracting me with new things.
We just got HBO Max & I’ll be checking out the new Gossip Girl too HAHA

  4. Lots of good choices!! The Queens Gambit was very interesting, and I am a huge Once Upon A Time fan! Season 1 was just so good.

We watched the first episode of The Queen’s Gambit and K wasn’t into it. I’ll have to watch it solo.
I watched many many seasons of OUAT but never finished it. It kind of gets worse as it goes… lol.

  5. My boyfriend wishes I would prioritise cleaning over reading 😂😂. Our place is basically always a mess.
I have never seen any of these and don’t even have Netflix so I can’t help you with where to start.

Hahaha. I really need to work on finding balance… I’m either lost in a book for days or cleaning like a mad woman.

  6. I don’t have Netflix. I know. I know. But I am seriously tempted to get it now because of Bridgerton. There are other shows that interest me but not enough where I felt that I had to get Netflix. But Bridgerton looks so freaking good! I’ve also heard The Queens Gambit and Enola Holmes are really good too. I loved The Greatest Showman but I am a sucker for a good musical and I loved the songs from it. I like the idea of an entertainment list although I feel like if I put one together I’d immediately abandon it because that’s just how my brain works. If I “have” to watch it, I won’t. 🙂 And I always, always put entertainment above cleaning … and it shows. LOL!

I work SO much better when I have a list. Lol
