We haven’t had a Coffee Talk since June 2020 so I’d say we’re way overdue.
This week our a/c at work stopped running so if we were having coffee I would be drinking something iced or frozen π
If we were having coffee… I’d ask what your plans are for the holiday weekend. I swear… the days run together now and holidays (and birthdays and anniversaries) completely sneak up on me.
This weekend I’m having a garage sale on Fri. & Sat. Kyle is playing in a cover band on Friday night. I think friends are staying over that night, too. Monday my parents are having a Memorial Day party with their friends (& us). It will be a busy weekend.
If we were having coffee… I would tell you how much I’ve missed you. I miss blogging and reading your blog. With work and parenting and my p.t. freelance job… I just don’t have the time or energy or creativity to spare. I hope this balance shifts soon. I miss this space. A lot.
If we were having coffee I’d have to vent a bit… I’m not fully comfortable ditching my mask just yet, but I don’t hold it against people who are. That said, if the business you are entering has a sign that says masks are required, then you need to WEAR YOUR MASK. /end rant
For the next SUYB link up I think I’ll have three books finished. (RIGHT?? Yay!) So obviously I’m an avid reader now. I kid, but I have been thinking about joining the Book of the Month Club. What are your thoughts on that? Is it worth it? Is there a better alternative? Is it a waste of money? If we were having coffee I would definitely pick your brain on this.
If we were having coffee you might ask how M is doing. Can you believe she’ll be 18 months next week? A year and a half. I cannot handle it. She’s been very clingy lately, but she’s also a ton of fun. She’s goofy and giggle, and climbs like a monkey, and honestly has very little fear. (GULP.) She started going to daycare about two months ago, twice a week. I think she LOVES it. She’s learning to play with others and she’s so chatty on the car ride home- then sleeps like an angel at night. A true win for everyone. (And I get a day or a half day a week ALL TO MYSELF!)
Chances are we’re now out of coffee. Lol. Before we part I’d ask if you have any travel plans? I know some people feel safe moving around and some don’t. We have a few camping trips planned and a family trip to Michigan later this summer. We’re also tossing around the idea of a visit to Tampa (to see Aub and Meg!) and a fall visit to my favorite place- Williamsburg. What about you?
And with that… I need to go price some items for the garage sale. And get more coffee. Have a relaxing weekend!
Coincidently I actually do have a holiday coming up but a different one than you. Next Thursday is Corpus Christi which is a holiday where I work and I’ve taken the Friday off so I get a long weekend. I should say another one – we just had Monday off for Pentecost/Whit Monday. So many holidays at this time of year! But then I don’t get another one until October.
Travel? What is that? Lol. If the restrictions end up being eased we were thinking of visiting Jan’s family in the summer. Currently we can go to the part of Germany that’s just over the border for less than 24 hours but any further/longer and we have to quarantine.

Interesting that you guys celebrate a holiday for Pentecost. We don’t have that… But we do have Independence Day and Labor Day off between now and the fall.
I’m itching to travel but at the same time… I kind of like the slowness of just being home. Ha.

I cant believe M is going to be 18 months! Crazy talk! Air conditioning is the one thing I simply cannot do without. Nadine is one cranky B when she is hot. Haha. Hopefully you guys got it all fixed up and it acts right! We were going to go to the beach this summer, but our condo was damaged in the hurricane last summer and isn’t quite ready yet. Not sure if we will venture anywhere else.
I have been doing BOTM for awhile now and I really love it. I am constantly finding amazing new books and I feel like they are a good deal. You can always skip a month or order a previous book if you aren’t vibing with the new ones they offer. It is $14.99 a month and any add on books are $9.99. When you sign up, if you use a current member’s code you can save $5 on your first order and the current member gets a book credit.

I can’t believe it either. She seems older every single day. Sigh.
I also do not function well without a/c. Fortunately we’re back in business & cool again.
Hmmmm…. I have only heard good things now about BOTM. Send me your code on IG and I’ll use it if I sign up!

I’ll be keeping my masks on me I know until next Spring – no joke – I’m not ready to let it go yet & I want it through cold/flu season! I’m ok with it – I can handle side eyes.
I thought I’d do BOTM for a few months when quarantine started. I LOVE IT. It gives me something to look forward to – & the books are really good quality & I love how they’re all the same size on the shelf. I’m not sad about doing it for a year now at all – no plans on canceling it anytime in the future.

I have definitely noticed that the more lax we get, the more sick we get UGH. (Daycare is organically bringing sickness into the family- sigh.) Good to know about BOTM. Seems like everyone loves it!

I never buy myself books because I prefer to use the library. So, when I started BOTM, I thought it’d just be random treat. Turns out I really like it! They have a decent selection. I justify the cost because I literally don’t buy other books π (I think it’s $14? Maybe 16.)

Totally makes sense. I read a lot of books on my Kindle- both that I buy and borrow from the library. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a physical book. I think that’s my hang up right now.

My car A/C is going on the fritz, so not quite as bad but I feel your pain. I am still wearing my mask, although I am fully vaccinated as well. I’m just more comfortable wearing it, but I see more and more people not wearing masks. I’m trying to be optimistic that they are vaccinated but realistically about 1/3 minimally are probably not (I live in an area with lots of Fox News fans). Also, I haven’t had a cold since I starting wearing a mask. In the previous four months before they got mandated in my state – I had two colds. π But, like you, I do understand that some are simply more comfortable than I am moving around without them and getting out more. I’m easing into it but don’t currently have any real big travel plans. I, uh, have read nothing but that’s actually one of my goals for the long weekend. To veg out and read. Have a great holiday weekend!

Ugh… same as far as my demographics go. All the stores say you don’t need to mask up if you’re vaxed… and I am. But no one is wearing a mask and I GUARANTEE they all do not have their shots. We’re definitely easing into normal outings and travel. But I’m much more comfortable taking things slow and avoiding the reckless people. Ha.

I love BOTM. I like that you can skip months if you aren’t interested in the book. You can pay for the month anyway and get future credits or skip and not pay for the month. Plus, once you pick your book for the month, additional books are only $10, which is awesome. And you can sign up and get your first book for $10 – just ask someone for a code. So yeah, I think it’s a good deal and the book selection is pretty nice.
I’m glad M is doing so well in day care and yay for having a little bit of time during the week to yourself. Hopefully you’ll find a good time to blog a bit more; I miss seeing your posts and updates too!
Sounds like you have a really fun weekend planned, so that’s great. My birthday is Sunday so I have a few family things I’m planning to do this weekend and I’m excited for sure.
I don’t wear masks if things are outside, but I wear them inside of places (at least until I sit down if it’s something like a restaurant). I’m vaccinated but I still want to be careful. A lot of people around where I live seem to be wearing those still. But yeah, if the place has a sign that says wear one, seriously, people should pay attention. WEAR a DANG MASK!

It sounds like the majority of readers of BOTM. I’m definitely going to look into it more.
I can’t believe she’s 18 months and thriving in daycare and more of a kid/less of a baby every day. WAAAAH. I love it and hate it at the same time. Haha.
Hope you had a very happy birthday!!!
