Morning Coffee Talk

Happy April! This is one of my favorite months. I hate spring, but I love April. It’s the end of a busy work season (before the next busy summer season) and it’s a little warmer but not miserably hot and it’s our wedding anniversary month. April is just a happy month in my mind.

(And happy birthday to my mom today!!)

Maybe you’re not feeling it, but hopefully you can find something joyful about today.

Here’s something to smile about- let’s slow down and grab some coffee for a quick chat! I’m actually going to be drinking a smoothie (that I made in my normal blender) but I think you should have a yummy cafe treat!

If we were having coffee I think I’d have to bring up the weather. We had some beautiful sunny 45º-60º days here… and then it DUMPED snow on Sunday. In the meantime, K was on a business trip in California and he got SO BURNT. Eighty degrees without a cloud in the sky.

*Honestly, I was great with the snow. I love the surprise flurries we get in spring.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that we’re headed to a NASCAR race soon! It’s my favorite sport! I love sitting at the track and feeling the sun and hearing the cars and smelling the tires. We have pit and garage passes (before the race access) and I’m SO excited! NASCAR just feels like summer.

If we were having coffee I’d share Steph’s post from yesterday with you. I 100% agree with her. It’s a matter of changing our behaviors and raising the next generation to smash the boys’ club and make the world good for everyone.

If we were having coffee I’m sure you’d notice that my hair is shorter and purpler. Lol. I did that two weeks ago and I love the purple. The length is a different story. I’m so used to long hair & it’s frustrating that I can’t pull it up as easily as I used to… I’m definitely growing it back out!

If we were having coffee I’d ask how you celebrate anniversaries. Our 6 year wedding anniversary is at the end of the month and we’ve got NOTHING planned. We’ve done everything from dinner out to a weekend trip.

Before we go, if we were having coffee, I’d ask for some good vibes, prayers, thoughts, etc. We have so much going on right now with work and life. It’s exhausting and draining. We need all the happy vibes we can get! I’m happy to return the favor, too 🙂

Your turn! Tell me about the new things in your life! Any weekend trips planned or upcoming celebrations?

Linking up with Kristen today for What’s New With You!

What's New With You

Good Morning. Happy Thursday. We’ve almost made it to the weekend. Keep Going.

Linking up with Kristen today for What’s New With You?.

Reading… The Girl Who Knew Too Much. I’m finishing it up. I feel like I’ve been reading it forever. I just bought The Lost World & A Picture of Dorian Gray, too. Starting those soon!

Watching… The Voice with K. It’s like a Monday/Tuesday night ritual for us and I like it. I just finished the series Land Girls on Netflix and I watched episode 1 of The Umbrella Academy. I plan to binge it on our flight to Phoenix.

Listening to… “You Must Remember This.” Lindsay got me hooked last year and I just can’t stop.

Eating… not fast food. The Overhaul Goal for March is no fast food. I won’t lie. It’s been tough. Fortunately, coffee doesn’t count.

Drinking… water & coffee. Almost exclusively. I drank a lot of water in Texas last month and it made me feel so healthy. I’m trying to keep it up now that I’m home.

Looking forward to… this weekend with my best friends. I’m headed to Cleveland on Friday with Kayla to visit Aubrey. I love spending time with them. We usually pig out, work out, and lay out (on the couch in the winter). Lol

Dreaming about… summer. I’ll be honest, I love fall and winter but even I crave the sunshine by the time March hits. I’m also looking forward to the NASCAR Bristol race that we just got tickets to!

Wondering… where the hell February went. I had no problem writing “2019” when the year turned but I’m struggling to remember it’s March… I keep dating things with a “2.”

Loving… my dogs. I always feel bad when we go on vacation. We have a new dog sitter, though, and I know she showers them with love and attention so that makes it a little easier.

Counting down… the days until we leave on vacation. It’s so soon & I’m so excited!

Enjoying… my new office. Pics soon. I promise.

Saving… moneyyy. I’m giving up shopping for Lent. I know there are a few things I’ll have to buy (dog food…) but beyond the essentials, I’m giving the wallet a break.

That’s all I’ve got. I actually planned to list way less prompts but I got carried away. Ha.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Happy Thursday.

I’m linking up with the beautiful, amazing, talented, strong, inspiring Kristen from See You In A Porridge for some What’s New With You?!

Reading… I just finished A Man Called Ove Tuesday night. I’m reading The Girl Who Knew Too Much and I’m starting Jurassic Park. (Fun fact: I’ve never seen the movie.)

Watching… The Masked Singer. K and I are hooked. So dumb but so addicting. Also, I started watching Land Girls (BBC) on Netflix. On a recent trip K binged season one of The Good Place so now he’s FINALLY willing to watch with me! (And I definitely don’t mind rewatching episodes.) I’m also watching The Bachelor. No shame here. Anyone wanna discuss it?

Eating… before 8pm. I’m still working through my Overhaul Goals. (I did awesome last month, thankyouverymuch.) I am struggling with this month’s goal: no eating after 8pm.

Stressing over… a huge professional shift. Also, some upcoming flights. But I’m not as stressed about flying as I’ve been in the past.

Planning… a for-fun trip! a.k.a. vacation! With Kyle! We spent 2.5 days in Gettysburg for our anniversary last year and we did a long weekend in Myrtle Beach a few falls ago, but we’re taking SIX WHOLE DAYS and going to Phoenix together- just us!- this spring and I AM SO READY FOR IT.

Traveling to… Texas for work soon. Have to go for work, get to go for guac & margs. San Antonio for anyone interested.

Grateful for… our new dog sitter. My parents for helping us out professionally and personally. My in-laws for always making sure we’re doing ok emotionally.

Missing… my brother and sister-in-law. And other family/friends. I live in my hometown and during the holidays people are always passing through and staying for a day or two. Post-holiday loneliness is a real thing.

Tell me what’s new with you & what’s you’re currently up to!

I’m not planning to do these every month, but I am tired today and my brain can’t handle much. Plus, I love gushing about my circle of people. So today, in honor of Valentine’s Day I guess, I’m linking up with The Blended Blog for some relationship-related questions.

1 | Who is your oldest friend? How did you meet?
I have a friends from church & elementary school that I still talk to occasionally, but I met my oldest best friend in 5th grade. I was visiting her elementary school and ended up at her table and she was SO loud. We still laugh about my first impression of her 😉

2 | Tell us about your circle of support. Who are your people?
Obviously K is my person. I have three best friends and a handful of very very close friends. K and I are very close with most of our family. My brother and siblings-in-law are also in my close circle.

3 | How did you meet your partner?
We were both band nerds. We met when I was 15 but we didn’t start dating until after my 17th birthday.

4 | How is Valentine’s Day celebrated in your home?
It’s not. The last few years we’ve been on a business trip over the 14th. We typically go to dinner but we don’t put much effort into V-Day.

5 | What is your love language?
I know they can change, but last I checked it was Quality Time. This gets tricky because we work together, but I don’t typically see time in the office as “quality.” I think K is somewhere between Acts of Service & Words of Affirmation.

6 | Flowers or chocolate?
Flowers for sure. But books are even better.

7 | What is the most meaningful gift you have ever been given?
Hmm. I’m not sure. My husband is incredible at getting personalized gifts for me. He once bought me a frame with original film clips from each HP movie. This past birthday he got me orchestra tickets to see HP and the PoA in concert. My best friend Erica gave us a custom Lylee ornament one year for Christmas and I love it with all my heart. Gifts based around HP or my dogs tend to warm my heart.

Feel free to answer all or some of these in the comments! I love hearing about how people met their s/o or how long you’ve been friends with your closest pals!

Every once in a while I play along with The Blended Blogger prompts. This month was a fun one so why not?

1 | Books I’ve Read Multiple Times
Honestly, I don’t like to reread books. Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter are the exceptions.

2 | Favorite Book/Author of All Time
This is tough. I love AiW & HP, but I haven’t read Rowlings other books. I also love The Lunar Chronicles (Marissa Meyer) but her other books don’t quite touch the fairytale series. So I don’t know. Ashley Weaver is another author I read religiously.

3 | Favorite TV Show to Binge
The Tudors & The West Wing

4 | Favorite New-is TV Show
I’d say The Good Place and Superstore. I don’t watch a bunch of tv but I’m all caught up on those ones!

5 | Favorite Movie of All Time
It’s a toss up between Clue and Beetlejuice. And Talladega Nights. But also add The Mummy and Fantastic Mr. Fox in there.

6 | Movie You Are Looking Forward to Watching
The new Fantastic Beasts.

7 | First Concert You Attended
Fallout Boy, From First to Last, Hawthrone Heights, All American Rejects

8 | Ultimate Concert
Let’s imagine a two-night “Rock n’ Chill” kind of set up. Night 1 The Used opens for Panic! At the Disco who opens for the headliner- Foo Fighters. Night 2 is the chill/pop portion with some Kenny Chesney, Kelly Clarkson, and Dave Matthews Band.

9 | Favorite Music Artist/Band
I don’t even know any more. It all depends on my mood. My current album rotation includes Kelly Clarkson, Old Dominion, Kenny Chesney, Thomas Rhett, Ben Rector, & P!ATD.

10 | How Do You Listen?
My Spotify account is my life source.
