Fall & Winter Goals 2021

The best quarter of the year is fast approaching. My heart sings during October through December. The weather cools, our insane workload becomes 10% less insane, and the best holidays ever reside in these months. Not to mention my birthday, M’s birthday, and the first snowfall of the year ❄️

While fall does not *officially* begin until the 22nd and my Q2 goals were severely neglected, I thought we might take a moment to look over some 4th Quarter goals and talk about our plans for the rest of 2021!

So… What happened?

Lol… I made a few Q2 goals but apparently I blacked out in July & August and only lived to survive. As far as my goals went, I accomplished none (read 10 more books, leave two notes, read a classic, ride bike for a week, scrapbook year 6). At least I’m consistent.

I read, but not 10 books. And I started scrapbooking year 6, but I’m not done. I’m going to count those as mini-wins, though, because this is my blog and I can do what I want.

Alright… Moving on…

Fall (Q4) Goals

  • Read 20 books total for the year (which is 7 more books)
  • Finish Year 6 scrapbook
  • Mins Challenge
  • Take a family vacation
  • Landscape the fire pit area in our backyard
  • Pick out pumpkins with M
  • Host our Halloween party
  • Celebrate M’s 2nd bday
  • Get our Christmas tree
  • Shop for 75% of gifts before Thanksgiving
  • Decorate the house
  • Host Christmas
  • Slow down and enjoy time with my family

Will these things happen? Time will tell. Although a few of them are guaranteed.

My 101 in 1001

Ok, so I’ve made a little progress here! I’m crossing off “make a new friend” (because I did!) & go to the dentist. I’ve also been good about reading, getting the dogs groomed, and making a donation once per month. I’ve changed #54 from “strengthen friendships in moms group” to “create a small group” – and crossing that one off ☺️ I also hosted a garage sale and figured out a morning routine with M (when she cooperates).

I need to start taking a systematic approach to my list. (And maybe editing the goals that no longer apply.) Consider that another fall goal for me to accomplish, ha.

I’m not super goal-oriented at the moment. I try to live in the moment each day but also just kind of survive this world so… maybe I will accomplish some of these and maybe I won’t. I know that’s not the CAN DO attitude all those optimists preach, but it’s my attitude & I own that. *shrug*

What are your plans this fall? Do you agree it’s the best time of the year or are you wrong?

Goals Update Q4

My quarters were kind of screwy this year… This is a recap on Fall Goals. Next month I will break 2020 into actual quarters and kick this off again. This explanation is more for my own peace of mind. You don’t really need any of this information. Lol

I’m linking up with Kristen today for What’s New With You!

Ok… let’s recap how Fall 2019 went, shall we?

  1. Attend baby shower (& send thank yous)
  2. Host Halloween Party link
  3. Put nursery together
We spent the last two weeks of Oct. painting, decorating, and building furniture. K did A LOT of work in there. It’s my new favorite room in the house now.
  4. Get 3/4 Xmas shopping done
    I mostly have this done.
  5. Go to TWO fall festivals
My mom and I went to two different festivals in Sept. & Oct.
  6. Add mums & pumpkins to the house
I didn’t get around to this under Oct. 24th but I did it. Lol
  7. Celebrate my bday & our (dating) anniversary
We did minimal things because we’re tired. For my bday we had an OB appointment, then brought pizza home and relaxed with the dogs. On our anniversary we had a maternity photo shoot and then went to dinner. Both evening were relaxing and lovely.
  8. Read 3 books per month Nope. Not even close.
  9. Get Christmas decor up before baby arrives
  10. Give birth

Did you set any big (or small) goals this fall? How did you do?

I always feel a mixture of energy and laziness in the fall. The colder weather invigorates me but the cool, dreary days make me want to curl up and read or nap.

Winter leaves me feeling the same way but with a newborn around I have no idea what kinds of things we’ll actually be doing. Haha.

IT’S FALL!!! (Goals Update Q3)

Ok, technically Monday was the start of fall but I’ve been celebrating since Sept. 1 so whatever. I live by my own rules.

Before we dive into fall let’s check out how summer went…

Summer Goals

  1. Finish cleaning out room & paint nursery
  2. Organize basement
  3. Read and finish 3/4 of Erin’s Book Challenge
  4. Find out gender & plan reveal event
  5. Assist in baby shower prep
  6. Continue financial goals
  7. Visit Aub in Florida!!
  8. Finish the registry

For the most part, I did well! My half of the basement (which is party supplies, serving dishes, and holiday decorations) is cleaned, organized, and shelved. K’s half of the basement is a bunch of drums. That’s on him. Lol

The nursery is empty & painted. The gender has been revealed. (I blogged it, too.) The baby shower is in motion and the reins have been handed over to my mom & mother-in-law; I’m completely out of it 🎉 Registry is done with me adding random things every now and then.

Still working on financial goals. Definitely did not read enough for Erin’s Challenge.

And now… *drumroll please* …the best season of the year! FALL!

Fall Goals

  1. Attend baby shower (& send thank yous)
  2. Host Halloween Party
  3. Put nursery together
  4. Get 3/4 Xmas shopping done
  5. Go to TWO fall festivals
  6. Add mums & pumpkins to the house
  7. Celebrate my bday & our (dating) anniversary
  8. Read 3 books per month
  9. Get Christmas decor up before baby arrives… maybe
  10. Give birth

Some of these are bound to happen… like #1. Lol
Pretty much all these goals revolve around baby arriving on time- not too early, not too late. And there’s no guarantee of that soooo… in the wise words of Elsa I am prepared to let it go. Ha.

What are your fall goals? Anything fun on your fall bucket list?

I’m sticking with five goals each season this year, plus some “fun stuff” (a.k.a. bucket list items) that I will occasionally share about.

Additionally, I’m still working on my Overhaul Goals. I failed in September, did ok in October, was moderately successful in November, and have been doing well this month.

What’s on your winter to-do list? What are some fun things you like to do or see when it’s cold out?

The Fall Bucket List 2018

One Monday morning, not too long ago, a co-worker arrived & I greeted him cheerfully. He gave me a sideways look because a) it was a Monday and b) it was morning. Then I saw a lightbulb go off and he laughed and said, “You’re in a great mood because it’s cold outside.”

YOU BET YOUR ASS, I AM.

And that is my classy intro to this year’s Fall Bucket List.

This year’s list feels a little light but life has been busy and I won’t pretend like I’d enjoy filling all my free time with traditional fall activities. I tried to stick to stuff that I either enjoy doing or stuff that really need done.

Outside Stuff

  • Go to at least one festival
  • Take a vacation
  • Family Thanksgiving trip to Williamsburg
  • Get some mums
  • Get some pumpkins
  • Carve some pumpkins
  • Do a fall craft
  • Take a dog or two on a fall hike

Inside Stuff

  • Gather the necessary items for our costumes…
  • Host our annual Halloween party!
  • Decorate the house
  • Start & finish a project I’m working on with K

  • Scrapbook Year 4

  • Continue working on office & emptying my parents’ basement

Do I already have some things crossed off? Yes. Am I ashamed that I jumped the gun? Hellz no.

I’m working on my overhaul goals, too. This month has been… rough. But I’ll recap that during Kristen’s link-up at the start of October.

What’s on your fall bucket list?
