Baby Talk: Nursery Tour

Yay! It’s finally here! 😊

M’s nursery was not finished before she arrived. Everyone told us it’d be fine because she wouldn’t use it right away. They were right…

…but we DID end up moving her in around week 3 or 4. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends moving baby to his/her own room between 6 months and one year. Turns out 3 weeks was the magic number for us. I mean, who wouldn’t want to sleep in this room? It’s the best decorated space in our house! (We have a video monitor so I can see her at all times & our pediatrician was a-ok with the decision. Ok, I’m done justifying this now.)

A few important notes…
My pictures are not professional by any means- lol.
I’m going to link the stuff pictured but nothing is affiliated.

We went with navy blue paint & one “wooden” wall. It’s actually laminate flooring. A family friend/contractor did it. We wanted a very subtle outdoorsy vibe in the nursery.

The dog pictures were taken during our maternity photo shoot by Jackie Beachy Photography. Obviously we’re in love with them. Our name art is from Hickory Hollow Designs!

The curtains aren’t blackout (I got these blinds to go behind them) but they matched the room so well and were so cheap, I didn’t care…

I love her little crib set up. Simple and clean but very personalized.

I’m also so so so in love with her changing table gallery wall. She loves it, too. She looks up at the wall and smiles while I change her. I love that.

We have two trash cans because we cloth diaper. The large one is for diapers, the small one is for trash, and then a laundry basket on the right.

Video monitor *we only have a single camera

The frog is a humidifier but it’s old and not great after 6+ years of hard water and minimal maintenance. We just purchased this humidifier for her room and I love it already!

This was a splurge gift from my in-laws. It was way too much money for a bookshelf but I’m so glad they got it for us. I love it.

Some day, before I start selling/packing up the too-small outfits and toys, I’m going to count how many fox items M has…

I love M’s room. I love that it’s slightly feminine but with dark colors- especially the orange & blue together.

I realized I forgot to photograph the closet after I took the pictures & started editing. It’s very neat and organized in there… so I think it might get a post of its own. I’m strangely proud of that space. Haha.

Decorating Our House

I keep promising pictures of the house, then I show you the same areas with holiday decorations (like this Halloween post and this Christmas one). I’m sorry. I promise my intentions are pure. This post has more pics for ya 😉

Just before the new year I started chatting with the good folks at Photo Wall. They’re a Swedish company that specializes in canvas art and wall murals. I had been dying for a big canvas print of K & me at our wedding and it appeared as though my +4 year long procrastination paid off this time.

This post was sponsored by Photo Wall but all opinions, pictures, & decorating expertise is my own!

So without further ado, here are some new pics of the house! On January 2nd K and I went to town (literally) and returned with curtains, shelving, artwork, vases, and more!

View from the front door.

New coat rack. That table is not staying. Those books are staying. No upstairs pics today.

Enzo will appear in almost every picture. Camera hog.

We moved some stuff around. Added some decor. Hung some art and shelves.

The “library” space looked cluttered and random so we divided the shelves up and framed the TV with them.

We hung my favorite van Gogh and turned the former library area into a sitting/reading corner.

The next few photos show a house that’s 100% lived in. Just remember that…

The sitting area leads into the dining room which is connected to the kitchen.

Tiny laundry room off the kitchen. But a clothes chute!

When we moved in we knew we’d need a fence for the canines. Now our backyard damn near resembles a dog park. Lol. We plan to do a lot to it in the spring/summer.

The treeline behind the back fence follows a creek.

Now back inside where it’s warm… (Oops, I lied! You do get a pic of the upstairs…)

When I placed my order for a canvas from Photo Wall I did not expect to see it show up a mere 3 days later. But it did.

I also didn’t expect to see it show up like this:

*scissors & dog not included, lol

Stick with me, though. I fully intended to have K whip this thing together for me, but then we decided I should give it a try since I’d be the one blogging about it.

Guys. It took me 15 minutes to put the canvas together. Easy peasey (and the satisfaction I felt in the end was even better!). I made Kyle tighten the screws down & hang the picture as soon as I was done!

*hanging hardware included- I just forgot to photograph it
Our bedroom wall, directly across from the bed!

I was so pleased with the outcome! And honestly- probably the best part- Photo Wall gives back to the environment through Vi Agroforestry. I love celebrating companies that give back 😊

They wanted to give back to you guys, too. Use the code AudieLouCampaign2018 to get 20% off your order with them for the next 30 DAYS! Go treat yourself with some pretty artwork or get a jump start on a personal Valentine’s Day gift 💕

Thanks for being so patient on the home tour front, friends! Hopefully this satisfied your house-pics hunger for now!

P.S. After this post was done we got our new coffee table and the curtains for the living room (a.k.a. last night). K spent 2 hours putting the table together and insisted that I share a picture of it. Ha.

My Wishlist (for friends & family & others like me)

I always feel like a brat when I make these posts but A) it’s a collection of cool stuff I think people like me might be interested in and B) when family & friends ask about birthday/Christmas gifts it’s SUPER easy to point them in the direction of posts like this…

SO without further ado… here are some things I wouldn’t mind getting for my birthday next month 😉 Also, the asterisks (*) are notes to family members.

Clothing.

Books.

First things first… the newest illustrated HP book! ⚡🖤
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (released 10/3)

Renegades by Marissa Meyer (pre-order for release 11/7)

Other stuff.

Kindle Paperwhite
Right now I use the Kindle app on my iPad sometimes, but it strains my eyes. I know Kindles have come a long way and I get a free book monthly with my Prime account, so I’d really like one of the middle-of-the-road tablets. *I’ve mentioned this to Kyle

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy
I don’t play video games as often as I used to… but I still keep my DS on my nightstand 🙂 I love these games!

Nintendo Switch
Have these been restocked yet? Lol. I’d also like this game 😁

Some may call it fate… Pottery Barn Teen just released their new HP line 😀

One of these and one of those and these, too! | *These prices are ridiculous. No one get me this stuff.

I mean… new house new decorations, right? I’m sure K will be on board 😉

ETSY for the win…

Ok, I’m done.

Actually… one more thing. A new president would be awesome. Preferably one that cares about equality, unity, safety, and people in general. Maybe one that tweets less and worries more about violence toward citizens, the health of citizens, and the overall lives of citizens (even the ones way out on an island THAT IS A PART OF THE USA).

K. Done.

*I just realized I could link up for Add It To My List with Lauren and Bre!

Good Tidings We Bring

We’re less than two weeks away from Christmas and I still haven’t seen a flake of snow in this town… but at least our home is festive. We had an ugly sweater party last year but this year we’re not hosting any Christmas shindigs. Since no one will be witnessing our decorations I decided I will just share some pictures here!

Photo quality is lacking, but the house looks best at night so I tried to capture my pictures in the evening. Now we just need to stock the house with hot cocoa and hope for some snow. (I was just told about the Holiday Home Tour– linking up now!)

We’re getting so close to Christmas (yay!) and the new year, and I’m so grateful to share my home with those I love ❤️
