Holiday Q & A with TBB

I’ve wanted to link-up with The Blended Blog for a while, but this is the first time I remembered! Just in time for the holidays…

1 Real or Fake Tree?
I hope that I will always be in the real tree camp. Growing up we always had one real tree in the house at Christmastime. I didn’t know multiple trees was a thing. As an adult, I admit that we have a fake tree at the PI office and a fake tree on the ledge at home. Our main tree in the living room will be 100% real, though (when we get it).

2 Favorite Christmas Cookie?
I’m boring. I love my mom’s iced cut-out cookies. So good πŸ™‚

3 Home on Christmas Morning or Travel?
I guess we technically travel? We drive about 10 miles out of town to my parents’ house in the morning, then we spend the afternoon/evening at K’s parents’ house (which is about 5 miles from our house)… We consider those places “home”, though. And we do a quick gift exchange when we wake up at our house with each other and the pups!

4 Clear or Colored Lights?
Honestly, I kind of like color on a tree, but clear on a house. We stick to clear, though. K has always preferred clear.

5 Send Christmas Cards?
Yep. Every year. I looove sending & receiving cards!

6 Favorite Christmas Present Received?
Uhhh… I’ve added a lot of pets to my family in December so let’s go with that! Enzo & Ly both came home on the 7th, my mom got me a bird on the 23rd one year (Noel!), and I got a hamster for Christmas once (his name was Jazz but he wasn’t healthy and he died pretty quickly).
Edit: I was reading other answers from bloggers and I remembered that one year I got my first cell phone. That was awesome πŸ™‚ Also, Erica gave me/us a Lylee ornament one year and it’s seriously one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever gotten!

7 Favorite Christmas Present Given?
Our first year together I made K a fleece tie-blanket. For some reason that’s one of my favorites because I was so happy to give it to him. I love finding the perfect thing for him.

8 Stockings or No Stockings?
Wait… why wouldn’t you do stockings?? Of course stockings!

9 Christmas PJ’s?
Kind of? Every year on Christmas Eve I wear my penguin pj pants to bed. I don’t know why I’ve deemed them the Christmas pants, but it’s become a thing for me. Lol

10 Favorite Christmas Carol?
I love ‘Angels We Have Heard On High.’ Most Christmas music makes me happy. Exception include: Santa Baby, Last Christmas, & All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth.

11 Favorite Holiday Tradition?
I like picking out the tree with K (and sometimes a dog or two). I also love decorating my parents’ tree, which we go over and do each year. And Christmas Eve service at the church!

12 Early Shopper or Last Minute?
I get 75 to 80% of my shopping done early, but I fully utilized Amazon Prime til the end and I like popping into stores and seeing the decor.

13 Favorite Christmas Movie or Show?
The claymation movies are my favorite. A Year Without A Santa Clause, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, etc. I also love watching John Wayne movies on Christmas Day.

14 Favorite Holiday Beverage?
I love hot beverages so winter is really my time to shine πŸ˜‰ Hot chocolate, hot apple cider, Starbucks Caramel Brulee latte. Anything spiked with Southern Comfort… ha.

15 Cookies and Milk for Santa?
Of course. And some carrots for the reindeer!

Well that was fun! πŸŽ„

The Boy Who Lived… βš‘

The stress levels around these parts are unreal. If you follow me on IG, you saw we listed our house last week. We got an offer within 2 days of it being online and we accepted it on Saturday. We’re pumped, but also stressed because inspections/appraisals/financing/buying a new home/money/moving/packing/fencing/fees/etc./etc./etc.

Also, as I mention all the time, summer is our busy season professionally. *groan*

So today I’m doing something fun that I can’t believe I’ve never done before: A Harry Potter Tag. (Thanks to Stephanie and Jenn for the questions!)

1. What is your favorite book?

The Prisoner of Azkaban. (& the Deathly Hallows)
2. What is your favorite film?
Order of the Phoenix. Although I think the Half-Blood Prince is hilarious up until the cave scene.

3. What is your least favorite book?
Goblet of Fire. I feel like most people say this one or OtP.
4. What is your least favorite film?
Probably Goblet of Fire, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve seen it.
5. Parts of the books/films that made you cry?
Probably every other scene for some reason or another. Molly v. Bellatrix, Hedwig’s final scene, the death of the twin, Dudley and Harry’s goodbye, Narcissa protecting her baby bear Draco & lying to Voldy. Also, Harry rescuing Ginny in the 2nd book always gets me since I know their end story πŸ™‚ There are many, many more moments.
6. If you could hook up with any character, who would it be?
Movie George Weasley. Book Lupin. (Is that weird…?)

7. Who is your favorite character?
Book Ginny. Movie Molly. I like the twins, Luna, and Tonks in both forms, too.
8. Who is your least favorite character?
Umbridge is garbage. Duh.
But also Dumbledore. (Go ahead, burn me at the stake.) Snape also never won me over. And Wormtail creeped me ouuuuut.
9. What is your favorite quote?
I can’t even begin to answer this- book or movie quotes.

10. What is your least favorite quote?
“I must not tell lies.” (Crazy bitch…)
11. What would your Patronus be?
Pottermore said a basset hound, but I think it’d be a fox πŸ™‚ Or a hawk.
12. What would your Boggart be?
A dinosaur riding a giant horse.
13. What would you rather have – the elder wand, the resurrection stone or the invisibility cloak?
The cloak.Β  Duhhh.
14. Which house would you be in?
Ravenclaw. (When Pottermore was revamped it re-housed me into Gryffindor. But nah.)

15. If you were on the Quidditch team, which position would you play?
I think chaser. Or I’d chill in the stands πŸ˜‰
16. Which class would be your favorite?
Either Transfiguration or Care of Magical Creatures.
17. If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?
Do Tonks and Lupin count as one…? (Sorry Hedwig/Fred/Dobby) I freaking hate that they died. Or maybe Sirius. He still had a lot of fight in him.
18. What would your job be in the magical world?
I think I’d want to be a professor at Hogwarts.
19. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
Dame Maggie Smith & Emma Watson. I typically consider people to be people regardless of their “job”, but those ladies are so badass I think I’d faint.
20. Were you happy with the ending?Β
Yes. But I hated the spin “The Cursed Child” put on it. I refuse to believe Ron and Hermione had such a common and predictable love. And Ginny is better than that play gave her credit for.

Annnnd there we have it.

Random Questions w/ Random Answers

The world is really sad and serious right now. It’s gotten even worse over the weekend. I’d like to start this week off on a happyΒ note. And on a random note πŸ™‚

What animal best represents your personality? | My family and I were talking about this a few weeks ago! I assigned both my parents an animal and I told K he was like a runt German Shepherd (hahaha). He’s tough and assertive, but he’s not full-on-Arnold-Schwarzenegger. They told me that I’m like a fluffy kitten. I imagine they meant the kind of kitten that looks cute and has a round face, but will still bite and swipe at you when annoyed. Also, sometimes I’m high energy with a short attention span… ha.

What book(s) shaped your life? | Speaking of kittens… The book Little Bo by Julie Andrews Edwards was one of my favorite books as a kid. There’s a part in the book that a human intentionally tries to hurt kittens and I think that really opened my eyes to animal cruelty. (The kitties were ok in the end!)

Which is better: being the boss or being the employee? | If I could just be the boss of myself I think I’d be happy, but I don’t really want to be in charge of others. (I watch K stress over his duties every day.) That said, I like being an employee with power and free-reign. I just don’t want to have to make all the decisions or be responsible for others.
Tl;dr: A high-ranking, very independent employee.

Name three things in nature that you find most beautiful. | Stars, mountains, and rolling hills with a reddish/purple sunset behind them.

Would you rather fly or read minds? | Definitely fly. I don’t want to hear people’s secrets. I’d actually rather be able to talk to animals πŸ™‚

What was your favorite year? | Of my own life? I guess 2013 was the most eventful: we got married, went on a cruise, moved in together, bought a house, and adopted Enzo. Every year of marriage has been great, though.

What’s your most recent guilty pleasure? | The stupid Bachelorette. I am so totally all in with that dumb show. I have a group text message going with two of my best friends and I have a bracket for each week and I look into blogs & predictions on the web. It’s embarrassing- I never thought I’d be a weekly viewer. (Go Derek & Jordan!)

What is the ugliest vegetable? | That’s a weird question. Oddly enough, I actually have an opinion on the prettiest vegetable (asparagus!) I guess the ugliest is probably cauliflower because it looks like a white brain. Hahaha.

cauliflower

What’s something that you think a lot of people worry about (but you don’t)? | Zombies. Zombies are nary a concern to me. I hate zombie movies and TV shows, and if there was ever an attack I would not survive because I think I’d off myself before fit hits the shan. (Then again, I’m an excellent shot… Do zombies die when you shoot them? Because if that’s the case I’d be a great person to have on your team πŸ˜‰ )

What book do you wish would be turned into a movie? | Um, hands down: The Lunar Chronicles. Please please please someone tell me these are going to be a movie someday!! I need to see Wolf IRL πŸ™‚

Alright, now you answer them! Seriously, what is the ugliest vegetable??
