Start of Summer: Goals Check-In

If you’ll recall, I combined my spring and summer goals and bucket list items into one post. I don’t like these warm seasons but having some fun stuff to look forward to helps me keep a good attitude. (Full disclosure: I did NOT have a good attitude about the +90 degree days in June.)

So anyway, since Thursday was the first day of summer, I figured a check-in was smart.

  • Go to a major or minor league baseball game
    I haven’t done this yet BUT it’s physically on the calendar for July!
  • Visit the farmers market at least twice
  • Go on anniversary trip to Gettysburg
  • Go to country summer concert with friends
  • Go to summer concert with K (Jimmy Eat World)
    Also already on the calendar for July!
  • Finish cleaning stuff out of M&D’s basement
    Making progress!
  • Finish purging unnecessary stuff
    It will be sold at the garage sale or donated by the end of the week!
  • Have a garage sale at new house!
    Happening this coming weekend!
  • Go to the outdoor rootbeer stand (Fundays)
  • Go swimming!
  • Go to Trumpet in the Land (outdoor play)
  • Follow 5 new blogs
  • Set up home office
  • Set up basement workout space
  • Scrapbook & finish year 3
  • Summer vacation?
  • Paint the bedroom
  • MAKE SOME DAMN ICE CREAM

I’m actually doing better than I thought I was. Yay for putting things on the list that I already had scheduled. Hahaha. Let’s bring me down a notch and revisit the goals for 2018 that I set…

Drink 64 oz. of water a day.
NOPE. I’m aiming for 32 oz. right now. Although on the day of Pride & the outdoor concert I drank over 96 ounces of water!

Read 50 books in 2018. And complete one of Erin’s Challenges.
I’m working on it… I’ve read 17 books and Erin’s next challenge start in July.

Start exercising.
Hahahahahahahaha. Nah.

Keep up with meal planning.
This has mostly been a bust. We haven’t gone out to dinner much, but dinners are either thrown together, tossed on the grill, or ordered off a takeout menu. Summer threw me off.

Practice kindness, patience, grace, and peace.
I actually think I’ve made some progress with this goal. I’ve taken steps to controlling my emotions. I’m trying to be a better, more supportive, loving friend. Obviously there’s always room for improvement. I know I’m never done improving.

Not doing so great with the yearlong goals. Lol

I’ve got one more season to knock these out so fingers crossed! I’m not sure if the painting, scrapbooking, or workout space are going to happen… but I’ll try 😉

2018 Spring & Summer Bucket List

Today is my Friday & I’m not mad about it. I hope you’re getting some time off this weekend, too!

I like keeping my seasonal goals separated, but I’m going to combined bucket list items for spring and summer because these two season are very bleh to me and melt together in my head anyway.

Here’s my list for spring and summer:

  • Go to a major or minor league baseball game

  • Go to summer concert with K (Jimmy Eat World)
  • Finish cleaning stuff out of M&D’s basement

  • Have a garage sale at new house!
  • Go to the outdoor rootbeer stand (Fundays)
  • Go swimming!

Seriously, though. I need to make some flipping ice cream or give it all up and sell the machine. (#pathetic) The asterisks denote items on my 30×30 list. Some of these are guaranteed like Gettysburg and the concerts.

All of these are doable & hopefully I can check off some tasks that have been on the list for a while. What are your plans for the warm weather months?

Summer Goals (because spring was a bust…)

Summer started yesterday, the link-up with Steph & Sara is tomorrow, and today we’re going to talk about some seasonal (and year-long) goals 🙂

First, let’s look at how hard I failed this spring.

Spring Goals

  • Wash cushion slips
  • Scrub grease build-up off cabinets
  • Replace/fix water heater
  • Get Ly on a walk schedule again
  • Clean junk out of basement
  • Hire someone to come & clean the carpets
  • Finish 3 year scrapbook
  • Order pics for year 4

I got 3 out of 8 accomplished. To be completely honest, I’m so glad I checked off the ones I did. The floors were terrible. Exhibit A…

*blushes* Life with dogs, #AmIRight? Moving on…

Summer Goals

  • Clean junk out of basement & utility room
  • Get spare bedroom clean and de-cluttered
  • Wash cushion slips
  • Wipe down fans, baseboards, etc.
  • Go for a bike ride once a week
  • Go putt-putting/mini-golfing (is there a difference?)
  • Tackle three books per month
  • Clean out/update my Spotify playlists
  • Finish Year 3 scrapbook
  • Order pics for year 4

Manageable. Hopefully. (You’d think I’d give up on some of this stuff, but I’m determined.)

And last but not least, a look at my 2017 year-long goals:

Be Healthy.
(As in eat better & exercise.) Ehh… some healthy foods / 100% no exercise

Feel Less Guilty About Downtime.
(Less guilt when lounging/reading/unwinding.) K and I just argued about this a few nights ago. He’s really good at decompressing; I’m still working on it…

Read more.
(Last year I read 25 books. This year I’m aiming for 40.) According to Goodreads I’ve read 17 books this year and I plan to finish two this week!

Become a Morning Person.
(Less snooze button and rushing, more consistency and chill.) HA. No.

Get on Schedule.
(As in meal planning, cleaning, dog maintenance, etc.) I have a handle on the meal and blog schedules. Everything else is just too much right now. *shrug*

So… summer is not a motivating time for me. We’ll see how this goes…
