The Boy Who Lived… ⚡

The stress levels around these parts are unreal. If you follow me on IG, you saw we listed our house last week. We got an offer within 2 days of it being online and we accepted it on Saturday. We’re pumped, but also stressed because inspections/appraisals/financing/buying a new home/money/moving/packing/fencing/fees/etc./etc./etc.

Also, as I mention all the time, summer is our busy season professionally. *groan*

So today I’m doing something fun that I can’t believe I’ve never done before: A Harry Potter Tag. (Thanks to Stephanie and Jenn for the questions!)

1. What is your favorite book?

The Prisoner of Azkaban. (& the Deathly Hallows)
2. What is your favorite film?
Order of the Phoenix. Although I think the Half-Blood Prince is hilarious up until the cave scene.

3. What is your least favorite book?
Goblet of Fire. I feel like most people say this one or OtP.
4. What is your least favorite film?
Probably Goblet of Fire, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve seen it.
5. Parts of the books/films that made you cry?
Probably every other scene for some reason or another. Molly v. Bellatrix, Hedwig’s final scene, the death of the twin, Dudley and Harry’s goodbye, Narcissa protecting her baby bear Draco & lying to Voldy. Also, Harry rescuing Ginny in the 2nd book always gets me since I know their end story 🙂 There are many, many more moments.
6. If you could hook up with any character, who would it be?
Movie George Weasley. Book Lupin. (Is that weird…?)

7. Who is your favorite character?
Book Ginny. Movie Molly. I like the twins, Luna, and Tonks in both forms, too.
8. Who is your least favorite character?
Umbridge is garbage. Duh.
But also Dumbledore. (Go ahead, burn me at the stake.) Snape also never won me over. And Wormtail creeped me ouuuuut.
9. What is your favorite quote?
I can’t even begin to answer this- book or movie quotes.

10. What is your least favorite quote?
“I must not tell lies.” (Crazy bitch…)
11. What would your Patronus be?
Pottermore said a basset hound, but I think it’d be a fox 🙂 Or a hawk.
12. What would your Boggart be?
A dinosaur riding a giant horse.
13. What would you rather have – the elder wand, the resurrection stone or the invisibility cloak?
The cloak.  Duhhh.
14. Which house would you be in?
Ravenclaw. (When Pottermore was revamped it re-housed me into Gryffindor. But nah.)

15. If you were on the Quidditch team, which position would you play?
I think chaser. Or I’d chill in the stands 😉
16. Which class would be your favorite?
Either Transfiguration or Care of Magical Creatures.
17. If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?
Do Tonks and Lupin count as one…? (Sorry Hedwig/Fred/Dobby) I freaking hate that they died. Or maybe Sirius. He still had a lot of fight in him.
18. What would your job be in the magical world?
I think I’d want to be a professor at Hogwarts.
19. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
Dame Maggie Smith & Emma Watson. I typically consider people to be people regardless of their “job”, but those ladies are so badass I think I’d faint.
20. Were you happy with the ending?
Yes. But I hated the spin “The Cursed Child” put on it. I refuse to believe Ron and Hermione had such a common and predictable love. And Ginny is better than that play gave her credit for.

Annnnd there we have it.

Ask Me No Questions, I’ll Tell You No Lies

I feel motivated in January and yet I can’t decided what to write about or share.
Until I figure that out, here’s a fun little survey:
What are you completely bored of in life right now?
Nothing. Life always has something interesting to offer.
What is your favorite scented candle?
I love pine & fresh scents (like cotton or laundry).
What movie do you laugh at the most?
I love Talladega Nights.  I’ve seen it a million times and I still laugh. Also, the 6th HP movie pre-cave scene.
What is the last song you listened to?
“I’m Alive” by Kenny Chesney & Dave Matthews.
What’s one thing you still have from your childhood?
Bunny.
IMG_1101
What was your least favorite subject in school?
Math.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Flying or telekinesis.
What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Compliments on my writing. Also, my dad once complimented my calves (which sounds weird, but it made me feel strong) & a friend complimented my skin. The skin one meant a lot because she didn’t necessarily mean the complexion (which is terrible), but that it was soft and youthful. That was nice.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?
Probably studying in India. Also backpacking in the mountains one weekend in college.
What’s one thing you need to have in your fridge at any given time?
…wine.
If you could raid one woman’s closet, who would it be?
Olivia Munn #obsessed
If you could teach one subject in school what would it be?
History.
What is your favorite movie?
Clue, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Mummy.
Twitter or Instagram?
Instagram, I guess.
Dogs or cats?
I love them both, but I will always have dogs.
Dolphins or koalas?
Dolphins. They’re so smart and playful!
Bird-watching or whale-watching?
Definitely whale-watching! It was such a cool experience this past summer.
cape_cod_6
Weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Snail. Alligator. Turtle. None of which I’m dying to try again.
What’s your favorite band?
DMB, Panic! at the Disco, Fallout Boy, Old Dominion, Foo Fighters. (Like that weird mix? Haha.)
What country do you wish to visit?
England, Egypt, Germany.
What’s your favorite color?
Yellow. Black, grey, & purple closely follow.
Least favorite color?
Pink.
What color dress did you wear to your prom?
A periwinkle/silvery one junior year. A sleek orange & black one senior year.
Blow-dry or air-dry?
I usually get the process started blow-drying, then let it air dry.
Pilates or yoga?
YOGA.
Jogging or swimming?
I love to swim, but I don’t get to very often anymore.
Best way to decompress?
A nap. Or some Miss Fisher’s. Maybe a book & a bath with wine and a candle.
What’s the best thing to happen to you this year (2016)?
My brother’s wedding. Changing jobs at the end of the year.
Where would you love to live?
I like where I live. If I had to leave the country, I’d go to Switzerland. If I could stay in the country I’d probably move to Columbus.
What’s your midnight snack?
Whatever I can find… A cookie, cheese, a slice of bologna. I’m not picky. (In college it was Doritos.)
What do you usually order at Starbucks?
Cinnamon Dolce Latte. Caramel Brulee at Christmas. PGTL in summer.
Who is the last person you texted?
My mom.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Dogs. A loyal support system. A creative outlet (i.e. writing, scrapbooking, blogging).
What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
Usually around 3am I’m letting Lylee out because she’s an a$$hole.
What is the question you get asked the most?
“What are their names/breeds/age?” because I’m either always mentioning my dogs or I have one with me.
What’s one word you use too much?
“OK.” I say it when I have nothing to say or when I don’t really know how to respond. Mostly to K and my parents. I picked it up from Amy on The West Wing.
Would you describe yourself as messy or neat?
Neat. K is the messy one.
What karaoke song would you sing without needing the monitor?
So many… Let’s go with “You Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate since I’d need to be intoxicated to even consider karaoke.
What’s one skill you wish you had?
Faster reading. Fluent in German. Faster at crunching numbers mentally.
What is the geekiest thing about you?
Probably the HP obsession.
. . .
Pick a few and answer them in the comments! Or just repost your own survey if you feel so inclinded  🙂

It’s A Disney Wednesday

I’m going to self-indulge today and do a little get-to-know-me through Disney-related questions. Honestly, who doesn’t love Disney? (If you don’t love Disney, it’s ok… I assume it’s just because you haven’t been introduced properly.)

I’m always so inspired by Rebecca Jo at Knit by God’s Hand. Her posts encourage me to crack open my Bible, lace up my running shoes, or take another trip to Starbucks! This Disney survey comes straight from her post last Wednesday!

| 1 | Favorite Character: Alice
I don’t have a reason… I just love Alice in Wonderland. (The cartoon, not the Burton version.)

 | 2 | Favorite Princess: Cinderella
When I was a kid and we played princesses I was always Cinderella. We were blonde, we both had a dog named Bruno, and I did a lot of chores at home… ha!

cinderella_disney

| 3 | Favorite Heroine: Jane
Anyone who shows kindness to animals and to those different than her gains my approval. Plus, she’s sarcastic and so intelligent!

disney_tarzan_jane

| 4 | Favorite Prince: Aladdin
By marrying Jasmine he becomes a prince… so he counts. Is it the wit? The rugged good looks? The bad-boy beginnings? I don’t know. But Aladdin always has been and always will be my favorite.

| 5 | Favorite Hero: Robin Hood
First of all, he’s a fox. But I also love his attitude and do-good nature.

Robin
| 6 | Favorite Animal: Sven
Probably my favorite character from Frozen… I actually had a lot of answers for this one, but I had trouble narrowing it down.

7.  Favorite Sidekick: Abu
He’s the ultimate loyal best friend. I also have a cat named Abu (who might be one of my favorites).

abu_aladdin_disney

| 8 | Favorite Villain: Hades
While Hades is my favorite, I would say that Hopper (A Bug’s Life) is the scariest.

| 9 | Favorite Original Character: Minnie
I don’t have a reason other than my mom likes her 🙂

| 10 | Favorite Love Song: Love is an Open Door from Frozen

| 11 | Favorite Song: Here’s my top 4…

| 12 | Favorite Villain Song: Be Prepared from The Lion King

| 13 | Least Favorite Song: Reflection from Mulan

| 14 | Favorite Kiss: Kristoff & Anna
Kristoff is so darn cute. Their whole relationship was cute! (Pre-Frozen I’d have said Nala and Simba!)

frozen_disney_kiss
| 15 | The First Disney Movie You Saw: The Little Mermaid
I think this is correct? This is the first one I can remember…

| 16 | Favorite Classic: Alice in Wonderland

| 17 | Song that always gets stuck in your head: I Just Can’t Wait to be King from The Lion King

| 18 | Favorite Pixar Film: The Incredibles
There are so many great Pixar films, but I love the relationships that change and strengthen in this film.

the_incredibles_disney_pixar
| 19 | Lease Favorite Pixar Film: Wall-E
I can’t emotionally connect to a robot… The whole film annoys me.

| 20 | Favorite Sequel: The Return of Jafar
So many sequel suck, but this one was SO GOOD- if only Robin Williams had voiced Genie.

| 21 | Overrated Movie: Hocus Pocus
I might come under fire for this one…. but I just don’t like this stupid movie.

| 22 | Underrated Movie: Muppet Treasure Island
I love this movie, but no one even knows it exists!

| 23 | Move that Makes you Laugh: Toy Story
First of all, it’s a classic. But more importantly, when you watch this movie as an adult it has SO MANY funny quips and subtle inappropriate insinuations.

toy_story_disney_pixar

| 24 | Movie that Makes you Cry: UP
I can’t even watch it. It’s too much.

| 25 | The Saddest Best Scene: Mrs. Nesbit
(I changed this one because I already shared what scene makes me cry.) Technically, this is a sad scene, but I love it because A) it’s funny and B) it’s a turning point for Buzz and C) Buzz is totally drunk.

| 26 | Saddest Death: Winnie in Tuck Everlasting
Ugh. This movie gets me right in the feels. (Plus it has Rory Gilmore & the guy from Nashville)
The loss of Ellie in UP is a death that I can’t even talk about right now.

| 27 |  Favorite Quote: …like I could just pick one. Ha.

  • The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all. (Mulan)
  • I’m a damsel, I’m in distress, I can handle this. Have a nice day. (Hercules)
  • If you don’t know where you want to go then it doesn’t matter which path you take. (Alice in Wonderland)

Alice_in_Wonderland

| 28 | Favorite Theme Park: Disney World
Honestly, I’ve never been to Disney Land or the parks in other countries. But DW definitely beats Universal- if only The WW of HP was at Disney. *sigh*

| 29 | Favorite Theme Attraction: Slash Mountain, The Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World
Plus every other ride at Disney World because there isn’t a bad ride there!

| 30 | Favorite Theme Park Show: Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
This was a last minute “Hey let’s check this out” show that I went to during a band trip to Disney in my senior year of hs. I have such a vivid memory of seeing this for the first time- it’s so hilarious and impressive. They even used a joke I submitted!!

Holy cow… we need to go back to Disney World soon…

Ok, your turn! Who’s your favorite princess? Prince? Character? Ride at Disney World??

On Friday I’m going to share my version of the best season of the Bachelorette. I did this with The Bachelor last year, so if you need to catch up before Friday read it here!

Merry Christmas!!

Happy Holidays! Cheers!
I hope today is a wonderful day of family and celebration and food and love.

(If you’re a Christian like me let’s give a rousing Happy Birthday to Jesus!)

If you find yourself bored this weekend and scrolling through Facebook or Instagram maybe you will find your way to this page and I can entertain you with this super interesting winter questionnaire all about me 😉 If you’re super engaged in the holiday celebration and you don’t have time then that’s ok, too! Merry Christmas, friend!

Christmas_Card

What’s your go-to outfit in winter?
I love sweatshirts and leggings for around-the-house work. If I have to go in public I prefer skinny jeans, legwarmers, boots, and a sweater with a scarf.

What’s winter like in your hometown?
Typically it’s chilly and rainy before the Christmas and snowy for most of Jan. & Feb. This year the weather is drunk and I’m annoyed. 55 degrees on Christmas is unacceptable.

Special winter recipes?
My mom & I make cutout cookies annually, but there are no secret Christmas recipes that come out this time of year. This year I made some dough for “Bretzeli” with my grandpa. K’s family always has a yummy spread, but we see most of those foods around Thanksgiving & Easter, too.

Christmas_Photos

Winter holiday traditions?
K and I always go pick out a tree together. Usually the dogs tag along, but this year it was just us. I’m also usually around when my parents decorate their tree. My favorite holiday tradition is the Christmas Eve service and then dinner/snacks at my grandma’s house afterward. I also always wear my penguin pants to bed on Christmas eve. And I have special white slippers for the morning.

Favorite winter activities?
Sitting by the fire, drinking cocoa, sledding, wrapping gifts.

Winter home decor?
Just in case you missed it, you can check that our right here!

Beauty regimen changes for winter?
I don’t do anything differently. I just make sure I keep moisturizer and lotion on hand for the dryness. I can already feel my face getting dry… Any advice from the experts?

Favorite holiday song?
I don’t really have a favorite on-the-radio pop tune… but I really love Angels We Have Heard on High. I’m also a big fan of anything older like Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby. Definitely nothing from the 90s and no Bieber.

Favorite holiday movie?
I love The Year Without a Santa Claus. It’s my favorite. I also enjoy The Polar Express, Love Actually, and The Family Stone.

Christmas_Photo

What changes about you in the winter?
I feel more relaxed during winter. I feel like the cold temperatures cool my blood and slow me down. Some people get depressed but I get serene.

Gift wrap or gift bags?
I prefer wrapping gifts 🙂 And I like opening wrapped gifts better, too!

Favorite warm drink for winter?
Hot cocoa with heavy/whipping cream. Or Starbuck’s Caramel Brulee latte. Or hot apple cider with caramel.

What are you excited for this season?
I’m just waiting for some snow, honestly… I’m excited to spend Christmas with my loved ones and pass out gifts to everyone. I’m also really excited for 2016- I think it’s going to be a wonderful year.

Autumn vs. Winter?
You can’t do this to me. I really, really love fall… but I’m always excited when winter arrives. (And right now I’m mad at fall because it’s stepping on winter’s toes.)

Christmas_Photo

Where do you spend Christmas?
Oh geez. Well, we go to church on Christmas Eve with my parents and then go to my grandma’s (Dad’s side) afterward for dinner/snacks. Then we usually stop by the in-laws’ house. On Christmas morning we spent a little time at our house with just the dogs. Then we give Ly a treat and pack up Enzo and head to my parents’ house and my mom’s parents join us. Then K and I head to his parents’ house for gifts. Then we take Enz back home and spend dinner at my aunt’s house (Dad’s side) for dinner and gifts. Then we usually go back to K’s parents’ house to spend time with his sister and her family (who arrive in town later in the afternoon). This year we will also be doing a dinner on the 26th with my mom’s parents. (And the PI company party is the 27th!)  WHEW.

Do you decorate after or before Thanksgiving?
I tend to put up some decor before Thanksgiving… but I leave my Thanksgiving/fall decorations up! (I just like to put up the mantel decorations.) We don’t get a tree until December, though!

Christmas_Photo
Oh, college… Our one and only snow day. (Obviously I’m the one accosting the snow pile.)

Peppermint or gingerbread?
Definitely not gingerbread… I guess peppermint, but I really only like candy canes.

What is one thing you asked for this Christmas?
A fitbit! And the new illustrated Harry Potter!
