2020: The Roaring Twenties

Does anyone else find it weird that we can call this new decade the twenties?

Welcome to the New Year!

2019 was a rough effing year. I am so excited to jump into 2020. Between parenthood and work and life in general, 2020 truly feels like a brand new chapter.

Don’t get me wrong- I am exhausted. We are not kicking this decade off with much sleep or sanity. That said, I’d like to kick the decade off with some goals. I have some for the entire year as well as the first quarter.

I’m joining Kristen today for the What’s New With You? link up.

2020 Goals

Read 20 books. I set a goal of 40 last year and read 28. We’re going to be a little more realistic this year.

Reduce debt by at least 50%. In years past I’ve been very general with my debt goals. This time we’re assigning a number.

Move my body. I need to find a workout/routine that I enjoy. Once I’m cleared by my doctor I’m leaning toward a barre/yoga/hot yoga route.

And that’s it since we’ll be mainly focused on keeping M happy & healthy. Now on to some shorter-term goals…

Q1 Goals

  • Figure out work schedule after maternity leave is over.
  • Travel to Texas (twice) & figure out summer vacation.
  • Start an exercise plan once dr says ok.
  • Unbox and sort out pre-pregnancy clothes.
  • Get M on some kind of daily schedule (i.e. consistent bedtime/mornings)

Five seems like a good number for now. Advice for flying with a 2 month old is welcome. Haha. What are your 2020 resolutions?

Alright, on to my Winter Goals:

I’m sticking with five goals each season this year, plus some “fun stuff” (a.k.a. bucket list items) that I will occasionally share about.

  1. Finish Year 4 Scrapbook
  2. Read at least three books per month (January, February, March)
  3. Visit yoga studio at least one a week (I bought a class package)
  4. Meal plan every week
  5. Finish Xmas shopping & enjoy the parties and off time we have coming!

Additionally, I’m still working on my Overhaul Goals. I failed in September, did ok in October, was moderately successful in November, and have been doing well this month.

What’s on your winter to-do list? What are some fun things you like to do or see when it’s cold out?

The Fall Bucket List 2018

One Monday morning, not too long ago, a co-worker arrived & I greeted him cheerfully. He gave me a sideways look because a) it was a Monday and b) it was morning. Then I saw a lightbulb go off and he laughed and said, “You’re in a great mood because it’s cold outside.”

YOU BET YOUR ASS, I AM.

And that is my classy intro to this year’s Fall Bucket List.

This year’s list feels a little light but life has been busy and I won’t pretend like I’d enjoy filling all my free time with traditional fall activities. I tried to stick to stuff that I either enjoy doing or stuff that really need done.

Outside Stuff

  • Go to at least one festival
  • Take a vacation
  • Family Thanksgiving trip to Williamsburg
  • Get some mums
  • Get some pumpkins
  • Carve some pumpkins
  • Do a fall craft
  • Take a dog or two on a fall hike

Inside Stuff

  • Decorate the house
  • Start & finish a project I’m working on with K
  • Try out three new recipes for dinner
  • Bake a new fall cookie
  • Drinks lots of apple cider

  • Celebrate my bffs’ birthday!! (One in Sept. & one in Nov.)
  • Find a new fall cocktail to make at home

  • Scrapbook Year 4
  • Order Year 5 photos
  • Continue working on office & emptying my parents’ basement

Do I already have some things crossed off? Yes. Am I ashamed that I jumped the gun? Hellz no.

I’m working on my overhaul goals, too. This month has been… rough. But I’ll recap that during Kristen’s link-up at the start of October.

What’s on your fall bucket list?

Spring & Summer Recap

Oh hello, Fall. You beautiful, sexy, amazing, perfect, gorgeous piece of the year. I’ve missed you so. (I know we’re 4 days away. I know.)

Today I’m putting the end cap on my spring & summer bucket list before divulging my fall list. I’ll share my new list on Thursday, so stick around 🙂 Until then, let’s evaluate my summer…

  • Go to a major or minor league baseball game (Indian’s game with cousin & friends)
  • Visit the farmers market at least twice
  • Go on anniversary trip to Gettysburg
  • Go to country summer concert with friends (Kenny Chesney)
  • Go to summer concert with K (Jimmy Eat World)
  • Finish cleaning stuff out of M&D’s basement
    Making progress!
  • Finish purging unnecessary stuff (This is never done but it’s “done” for now.)
  • Have a garage sale at new house!
  • Go to the outdoor rootbeer stand (Fundays)
  • Go swimming!
  • Go to Trumpet in the Land (outdoor play)
  • Follow 5 new blogs
  • Set up home office
  • Set up basement workout space
  • Scrapbook & finish year 3
  • Summer vacation (Darlington, SC)
  • Paint the bedroom
  • MAKE SOME DAMN ICE CREAM

Not bad… not bad…

As far as things I did not do…
We more or less nixed the idea of a basement workout space for now.
Our plan is to paint many rooms at once (and hire someone to do it). Putting it on the fall list.
I made a lot of progress on my home office/craft room, but it’s not done by any means so I don’t want to completely cross it off my list.

I don’t know that I necessarily started following 5 new bloggers, but I started frequenting and visiting the sites of multiple blog-acquaintances in hopes of becoming blog-friends. Does that make sense?

I know you summer-lovers are dreading the next 4 months (5 months? 6 months? …who knows), but I am very happy to see this new season. Come back in two days for my fall bucket list!
