2018 Spring & Summer Bucket List

Today is my Friday & I’m not mad about it. I hope you’re getting some time off this weekend, too!

I like keeping my seasonal goals separated, but I’m going to combined bucket list items for spring and summer because these two season are very bleh to me and melt together in my head anyway.

Here’s my list for spring and summer:

  • Go to a major or minor league baseball game
  • Visit the farmers market at least twice
  • Go on anniversary trip to Gettysburg*
  • Go to country summer concert with friends (K.Chesney, Old Dominion, T. Rhett)
  • Go to summer concert with K (Jimmy Eat World)
  • Finish cleaning stuff out of M&D’s basement
  • Finish purging unnecessary stuff
  • Have a garage sale at new house!
  • Go to the outdoor rootbeer stand (Fundays)
  • Go swimming!
  • Go to Trumpet in the Land (outdoor play)*
  • Follow 5 new blogs
  • Set up home office
  • Set up basement workout space
  • Scrapbook & finish year 3*
  • Summer vacation?
  • Paint the bedroom
  • MAKE SOME DAMN ICE CREAM

Seriously, though. I need to make some flipping ice cream or give it all up and sell the machine. (#pathetic) The asterisks denote items on my 30×30 list. Some of these are guaranteed like Gettysburg and the concerts.

All of these are doable & hopefully I can check off some tasks that have been on the list for a while. What are your plans for the warm weather months?

Hope you have a great weekend and a Happy Easter!

Winter Recap

I know I’m backward, but I hate spring because it means fall & winter are over. Go ahead, crucify me or whatever. Occasionally I dream about driving with the windows down along sunny back roads, but usually I prefer the changing leaves and falling snow.

Whatever. It’s over now. All you beach babes get your weather back. *sigh* 😉

As I’m sure you recall, I made a wintertime to do list/bucket list.

Winter To-Do List ❄️

  • Order / address / send Christmas cards
  • Girls’ trip with my ladies*

  • Weekend shopping trip with Mom
  • Finish all the Christmas shopping
  • Make some big decisions regarding the business
    Still working on this.
  • Complete 50% of my Christmas Movie List
Nope. I watched roughly 10 movies from my list.

    • Post some kind of home tour/Christmas tour of house

  • Make. Freaking. Ice Cream.
  • Get my office set up
  • Look into getting the bedroom painted
  • Scrapbook!*

*denotes items from my 30×30 list

We had a pretty wonderful winter. I made progress on moving stuff out of my parents’ basement and I’ve been working on putting my office together. I can’t really scrapbook until I have a space (my office) so that goal was a little ambitious.

When I say “make ice cream” I mean in the machine that we were gifted for my bridal shower +5 years ago. I did put the bowl in the freezer to chill it a few weeks ago so you could say I’ve made progress…? Probably not, though.

Someday we’ll get the house painted… ha.

What goals or fun bucket list items did you check off this winter? I’m sharing my spring & summer goals closer to the end of the month. Right now they’re still calling for snow in my neck of the woods. (YAY!)

Fall Recap 2017 & Wintertime To Dos

First and foremost, happy ADOPT-A-VERSARY TO OUR BABIES! Five years ago today we brought Lylee home from a friend who couldn’t keep her. K and I were unmarried, I’d just finished college, and we were living separately- me in my parents’ basement. A year later (totally unintentional) we brought Enzo home from a rescue. We’d been married for 7 months and just bought our first home. We were living so differently than when we got Ly. Now, half a decade later, life is so, so different. It’s very strange to look back. I stand by my declaration that bringing Ly and Enzo into our lives are two of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
Guys, if you can, adopt a dog. You’ll save a life and gain a best friend
❤︎

Originally these were two separate posts, but I’ve decided to combine them and link up with Kristen and Gretch. Also, I’d like to petition to start “winter” around the end of November. December 21st is just too late.

And now a brief fall recap

  • Go to at least two fall festivals
    • Yankee Peddler Sept. 9 & 10, 16 & 17, or 23 & 24
  • Move into the new house! (We close the first week of Oct.)
  • Host our annual Halloween Party!
  • Visit a nursery and get some mums for the front porch
  • Pick/buy pumpkins
    • Carve them
  • Get a bay of straw for the front porch
  • Work on meal planning and try out these recipes:
  • Find a walk route in the new neighborhood with pups
  • Get a few rooms in the house decorated
    • Living room Ehh, it’s mostly done. Stuff needs hung.
    • Master bedroom Still needs painted & artwork.
    • My office Needs a miracle. Woof.
  • Get 25% of my Xmas shopping done by the end of Oct.
  • Visit an apple orchard
  • Bake a new fall cookie No cookies but two different cupcake recipes!
  • Drink some apple cider
  • Watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Beetlejuice
  • Find cute booties (*part of 30×30 list) Yaaaas!
  • Take a dog or two on a hike (*part of 30×30 list) Happening this month w/ E!
  • Scrapbook. Even a little bit. Just get something done… lol *office in shambles
  • Dog park with E (in Columbus)
  • Homemade ice cream, damn it *face palm*

Some thoughts:

Only made it to one festival but I’m ok with that. Our annual Halloween Party went well 🙂 I visited a nursery with my mom, but bought nothing. Then my mother-in-law gifted me some mums for my birthday. I think that means I can check that off. I bought straw and pumpkins the day we signed on the house! Then my brother and sister-in-law carved them with me the night before our party 🙂

Overall I think I accomplished enough. Fall was really hectic and stressful for me this year. I didn’t enjoy it and, while I’m sad about that, I think it’s good to recognize that I overloaded myself and put too much pressure on me/us. We’ve slid into winter much more slowly and delicately.

As of now, I’m starting on my winter to-do list ❄️

  • Order / address / send Christmas cards
  • Girls’ trip with my ladies*
  • Weekend shopping trip with Mom
  • Finish all the Christmas shopping
  • Make some big decisions regarding the business
  • Complete 50% of my Christmas Movie List
  • Trim the tree and finish decorating the house
    • Post some kind of home tour/Christmas tour of house
  • Make some Christmas cutout cookies
  • Do something fun in the snow! (sledding, build a snowman, etc.)
  • Come up with some 2018 goals/resolutions/a word
  • Start planning something for our 5 year anniversary (April 2018)
  • Get all our stuff out of M&D’s basement
    • Got through that stuff and purge all that we can live without
  • Fall Winter walk with a dog or two*
  • Make. Freaking. Ice Cream.
  • Get my office set up
  • Look into getting the bedroom painted
  • Scrapbook!*

*denotes items from my 30×30 list

I won’t lie… my Christmas cards have been sent, my girls’ trip is happening this weekend in a remote cabin in southern Ohio, and my mom and I have already done our shopping trip (which I’m hoping becomes an annual thing). Whatever, man. Sometimes you need a few surefire things when it comes to goals and checklists.

Will I ever make ice cream in my ice cream maker? Only time will tell.

What's New With You

My Summer Bucket List

Between Jessica’s summer list and Chelsea’s monthly to-do lists, I decided I need a summer bucket list to get me in the right mood. (If you’re new here, I hate summer. But I’m going to give it a shot this year.)

I did a seasonal bucket list for fall and I felt very accomplished and fulfilled by the end. Fingers crossed summer ends the same way!

  • Go on a mini-golf date with K
  • Finish Year 3 scrapbook
  • Beach house vacation with the whole family
  • DCI Championships with K in August
  • Finish backyard landscaping
    • & host a cookout for the company
  • Take Enzo to the dog park
  • Outdoor concert with K & friends
  • Garage Sale (#2)
  • Visit the farmers’ market
  • Make a serious dent in Erin’s reading challenge
  • Drink more water
  • Make homemade ice cream
  • Take the pups on an adventure

So to clarify… the beach vaca. and DCI trip are already planned, but I don’t care. Also, I’m doing a garage sale tomorrow, but my mom is doing one in July with my grandma so that’s why it’s #2- whatever I don’t sell tomorrow I’ll try again with in July.

I feel like my summer bucket list is kind of lackluster. Maybe it’s because summer just isn’t my thing… If you have any suggestions or additions to spice it up, I’m all ears!

The Revised 30 by 30

When I turned 25 I made a 30 (things to do) by (the time I turn) 30 list. I threw it together haphazardly and felt a little meh about it, so after a while I removed the page from my blog.

30x30

After some revision and soul searching, I’ve republished the list (^ up there ^) and figured I’d share it here. There are 10 or so things are from the original list- including the few that have been crossed off- but these 30 things are activities or experiences that I’d really like to accomplish before the big 3-0. (Deadline: Oct. 17, 2020)

  1. Read 100 books (26/100)
  2. Visit 5 new cities (2/5; Boston, Charlotte)
  3. Work for K and Pageantry Innovations
  4. Finish writing my novel
  5. Finish Yearly Scrapbooks (2/7)
  6. Take K to Disney World
  7. Take K to Europe
  8. Re-read the Harry Potter series (0/7)
  9. Pay off any and all credit card debt
  10. See the West Coast
  11. Learn the art of making (my grandma’s) pies
  12. Take another cruise
  13. Go horseback riding
  14. Attend a professional sporting event [November 23, 2015]
  15. See Panic! at the Disco live
  16. Attend at least 5 different NASCAR tracks (3/5)
  17. Make something on my sewing machine
  18. Complete Erin’s book challenge
  19. Complete a TBD film challenge
  20. Finish OUAT series & The West Wing & Mad Men & Miss Fisher’s…
  21. Clean junk out: spare room / utility room / basement
  22. Go on a girls’ trip
  23. See Trumpet in the Land (a local outdoor production)
  24. Tryout for a part at the local theater- even if I don’t get it
  25. Start a real, physical, local book club
  26. Find the perfect pair of booties
  27. Ride on a train (again)
  28. Visit the Rock & Roll HOF
  29. Take the dog(s) hiking each fall (Starting 2015… 2/6)
  30. Visit a unique Ohio location not already listed (suggestions )

I feel like I’ve got a pretty terrible start, ha. I’m nearly a year and a half in and I’ve got two-ish crossed off… Oof. That said, I’m working on the books, television shows, cities, races, and hiking. Also, we’re planning a Disney trip for this year (and hopefully Europe in 2018)! So, you know, that’s a start…

I looked at some other 30×30 lists while I was creating mine, but I’d love to know what’s on your bucket list! Do you want to skydive (not me ) or scuba dive or travel the world?

Goodbye Fall… Hello Winter

The last three months of the year are my favorite. I love colorful trees and cool weather, I love fall fashion (a.k.a. jeans and a sweatshirt) and fall foods, and I love how seamlessly fall becomes winter- November flurries, Christmas lights suddenly appear on the neighbors’ houses, leaves in the streets become drifts of snow. Also, does anyone else love a blue dusk? I know summer and fall have the prettiest sunsets, but I just LOVE how the sky turns blue at the end of a winter day!

In September I made two separate posts for my Fall Goals and my Fall Bucket List. Apparently this was my ‘get it done’ season because I most certainly did. With the first day of winter a week away and Sara & Steph‘s link-up on Friday, here’s a recap of my fall season + some goals for winter.

goodbye-fall

The FALL Bucket List

  • Go to a local apple orchard & bring home a bushel small bag of apples
Thanks to my mother- & sister-in-laws for going with me!
  • Get all the fall decor out & around the house
And now we’re on to Christmas decor!
  • Visit a few fall craft shows (preferably with Mom)
Mom & I went to one little festival, but technically it’s a CHECK
  • Pick out some bright orange pumpkins
  • Carve said pumpkins (preferably with Fred & Christina)
I carved them alone, but that’s ok
  • Drink lots of apple cider
  • Get a PSL DONE 😉 I checked this off at the start… ha
  • Host our annual Halloween Party
It was a 90s theme and it was a success!
  • Take the dogs to a local park or nature trail for hikes
Ly and I went hiking- it was too chilly/long for Enzo
  • Visit a haunted house
  • Bake a few new fall cookie
(No, but I failed HARD with these… Ha!)

cookie_fail

  • Fall vacation with the husband
    Charlotte and Myrtle Beach
  • Add a few classy, seasonal pieces to my wardrobe
    Thank you, Old Navy

  • Watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
  • Create & enjoy a fire pit area in our yard
We created it… ‘enjoying’ it is a different story…

and now…

The FALL Goals

  • Paint the front door (I’m bloody determined to make this happen.) | YES. Done!

door

  • Keep with the #30DayYogaChallenge that I signed up for | I went 13 or 14 days straight, then I got sick and fell off the wagon *sigh*
  • After the challenge is over continue to practice yoga weekly | Nah.
  • Continue volunteering weekly | Try bi-weekly…
  • Order 3 year photos for scrapbook
  • Get invites out for Halloween Party
  • Walk/bike to work at least twice a week | Not twice a week, but I walked to work occasionally.
  • Create a fire pit area in the backyard | Ok, so we upgraded the backyard and added a concrete pad & fire pit area, but our neighbor straight-up lost his mind and went passive aggressive psycho on us. As in, called the fire dept. (911!) to report our small, legal, backyard fire. Like, walk your ass over and talk to us like an adult, dude. It’s been a headache, and I’m leaving out a ton of detail, but things seem to be resolved and we’ve had fires in our backyard since. (Seriously, though. People are insane sometimes. )
  • Get all the pieces of my Halloween costume together BEFORE the week of the party | Ha. No. We rush ordered my costume. But whatever, we looked fly.

halloween_us_2016

  • One crockpot meal a week (**buy crockpot liners!) | At least I bought some liners…
  • Hardcore wash the dog beds & blankets | Multiple times, in fact
  • Wait until the end of Nov. to break out Christmas stuff | I lasted until mid-ish November…
  • Get X-mas shopping done! | Most of it!

I did OK with the goals. I straight up killed the bucket list. Thank you to everyone that helped! (After reading the goals results I feel like I should post about our exterior home improvements. Is that of interest to anyone?)

OK, on to some Winter Goals

  • Make a meal planning journal and, like, actually do it
  • Wash all window treatments & cushion slips
  • Write thank you notes for Christmas gifts
  • Get Lylee on a walk schedule again
  • Clean the junk out of the basement
  • Hire someone to come in and clean the carpets

Keeping it short and sweet this season!

Life According to Steph

Fall Fall Fall

I’m currently listening to my husband fight/argue with our oldest dog … She keeps barking during his favorite TV show. I feel like this is a window into our future with a teenage daughter… Ha.

Hi ya 🙂 I totally bailed on Monday but I had a busy weekend and a lot going on and I just didn’t want to throw together a half-assed post. But I’m here today & that’s what matters.

So let’s talk about fall. (You might be sick of fall talk… If that’s the case maybe don’t come back here until Monday… #sorrynotsorry)

I’m waiting to post my fall goals until Steph and Sara‘s link-up on Friday, but I wanted a fun bucket list for the season so that’s what we’re doing today! I also added some fall inspiration at the end, too- just in case you haven’t gotten your sweater wearing, scarf draping, latte sipping fix 😉

Audrey’s Fall Bucket List:

  • Go to a local apple orchard & bring home a bushel small bag of apples
  • Get all the fall decor out & around the house
  • Visit a few fall craft shows (preferably with Mom)
  • Pick out some bright orange pumpkins
  • Carve said pumpkins (preferably with Fred & Christina)
  • Drink lots of apple cider
  • Get a PSL DONE 😉
  • Host our annual Halloween Party (theme coming soon!)
  • Take the dogs to a local park or nature trail for hikes
  • Visit a haunted house
  • Bake a few new fall cookies
  • Fall vacation with the husband
  • Add a few classy, seasonal pieces to my wardrobe
  • Watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
  • Create & enjoy a fire pit area in our yard

Some of these are already in the works (the Halloween party, our fall vacation) but most of these are fun things I try to plan every year (and usually fail). A few of these might double as goals on Friday’s post, too. Meh. That’s just how it works.

And now for some Fall Inspiration! (Follow me on Pinterest for more!)
