What I Read… February 2016

I dropped the ball. I actually double dropped the ball. I missed my Monday morning deadline (SORRY!) and I actually only completed one book this month. In my defense K and I were both home sick on Monday sooo…. let’s blame that.

Ok, back to books! (January’s book reviews, ICYMI) Last month I came up with this rating system:

★- terrible | ★★- I finished it but it was a struggle | ★★★- not bad, not my favorite | ★★★★- a good read that kept my interest | ★★★★★- I’ve already bought the book for my collection & I’m recommending it to everyone

I’ll tell you why I picked it up, what the book was about, and whether or not I recommend it. Like I said, this month I finished 1 book! (I was so pathetic last year so I’m still feeling pretty great about my reading habits so far this year.) Pic links back to GoodReads.

Bossypants by Tina Fey || ★★★★/5
I really, really love Tina. She’s unapologetic and funny and so genuine- that’s probably why I picked up this book. Plus I found it for less than $4 and I’m a sucker for cheap books.

I actually did this one audio book & LOVED hearing it in her voice. I literally was laughing out loud

  I hope she writes another book some day and does the audio for it. I would LOVE to hear this in her own words! Maybe I’ll find some time to listen to Bossypants! (I heard Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling read their books, too! I need to listen to those!)

I read Bossypants but it was a couple years ago. I think I might’ve actually bought it for Kindle so I want to go back and read it again! I remember liking it. I’m a big Tina fan!

  I loop her and Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling into the same group… and I really think Tina is my favorite. She’s just not afraid to say it and usually she’s right! Next is “Yes, Please” and then Mindy’s new one!

yeeeees! i loved bossypants A LOT! i sped through it on a long flight and it was one of my favorite flights. i felt like i sat right next to her! and don’t beat yourself up for “only reading one book!” that’s a lot more than a lot of people and other priorities take over sometimes 🙂

  I sped through the first 3/4 and then life happened and I accidentally set it down and I totally forgot to finish it. Honestly, when I picked it up again I had it done in 45 minutes!
  Thanks for the encouragement!! I’m really hoping that I squeeze 2 or 3 into March- at the end of the day I struggle with turning the TV off and cracking open my books. UGH!

  Man, oh man. I really think I missed out on not listening to this book! I won’t make that mistake again! I need a road trip or a commute so I can listen to some of these memoirs in the authors’ voices!
