It’s a very movie-themed week in Life as Louise-land.

You know the drill… I’ve already talked about the best 90s movies and the best 2000s movies. The 80s are a little different since I wasn’t alive, but I’m confident I’ve got some good ones. (Well… these are my favorites, at least.)

Clue (1985)
Surprised! (Ha..) Clue is one of my all time favorite movies. I love a cheesy good murder mystery and I love Tim Curry. This film is cute and funny and full of twists. Even if you’re not on the edge of your seat the entire time it’s still entertaining. Plus there are alternative endings!

The Goonies (1985)
My aunt bought me this movie a long time ago and I thought it looked super dumb, but it’s actually kind of funny. I mean, it’s also kind of dumb. And it has that odd 80s humor… but it’s a classic! 😉

The Princess Bride (1987)
This is one of my mom’s favorite movies. I always rolled my eyes when she’d put it on, but it’s kind of a cult classic. I find myself quoting it often, though few people actually get it. Ha.

Back to the Future (1985)
Personally, I’m not a fan of this movie; I think it’s dumb. I included this pick because I’m afraid my husband would draw up divorce papers if I didn’t mention at least one of the BttF movies. I guess I giggle at some of the jokes, but mostly I find them silly.

Trading Places (1983)
This is another movie that K introduced me to, but I actually find this one to be quite comical. It starts Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, and Jamie Lee Curtis. I usually don’t like the predictable story line where everything’s perfect, then there’s a big issue with a goofy misunderstanding, and then it’s all resolved…. but this film does a pretty good job with all that. And I love that regardless of their situation or lifestlye the good people are good people and the bad people are bad people.

Beetlejuice (1988)
I thought I could get through my list without mentioning this film, but I can’t. I love this movie. I’m really not a huge fan of Tim Burton (-all the emo kids from the 2000s gasp-) but I think this movie is awesome. It’s funny and a little spooky and filled with amazing people. (Geena Davis 4eva.)

Obviously Star Wars is a great (70s &) 80s trilogy. I also won’t discredit the Brat Pack movies, though I never really got into those films.

I know I’m missing some good ones, but my childhood was filled with overalls and fold-down socks, not bright spandex and crimped hair. (Yeah, I just stereotyped the 80s and 90s.) Help me out- what classic 80s films do/did you love?
